I said I was mostly done with video games. But just when I thought I was out, Witcher 3 pulls me back in.

Yeah. I'm still sitting up blurry eyed into the early hours of morning with that game (the in-game timer is bugged so I don't know how many hours I've clocked in by now, but I'm guessing I'm somewhere between 30 and 40). And I don't even think I'm half way through the main story line yet, and still with a lot of unexplored areas and witcher contracts left in the Velen region and the entire large Skellige region still untouched.

After I finish this game I'm going to take a few months off from the biggest and most addicting story based games.
Mostly I play racing games, online shooters or more linear story based games, all of which I usually feel inclined to play in short bursts, rather than something I get hooked on like a great novel and have to force myself to put down to get other things done.

I very rarely get sucked into a video game because I find most games boring as hell and uninteresting, but CD Projekt Red really hit it out of the park with this one.

Tons of compelling characters, good story, good game mechanics, atmosphere, etc. This is the medieval fantasy Game of Thrones wishes it could be.

To top it all off, the game managed to piss off SJWs and the developers told 'em to fuck off. It's nice having a game free of their stupid preachy weirdo bullshit.

I've been playing Day Z lately which is a mod for Arma 2. It's sort of old but there are still a lot of servers.

I enjoy the game, but the majority of the people I play with are mild aspies. Example, I was on Teamspeak with two guys and a girl who supposedly muted her mic.

We had a blackhawk with two of us manning the guns and her flying. She flew by a GPK (an armored humvee with a gun on top). We missed shooting the humvee.

Girl decides to land, unhitch the plane she was towing (mod for the server), destroy the helicopter, and tell us all to get in.

This plane she had had a gun that only the pilot can use. She expected us to all just sit in the rear while she flew and shoot.

The next time i'm playing with someone like that i'm just going to kill them. Should have blown up that plane. [Image: undecided.gif]

How far in are you in the witcher ? I am bloody addicted. The story , the monsters. Combat feels alot better than I expected. I hate the armour models though. Starting armour looks the most badass while the rest kind looks meh

Why did Witcher 3 pop out of nowhere? I never even heard of the Witcher series until this one.

Kind of like how Far Cry 3 randomly jumped that series into the mainstream.

I got to Velen yesterday afternoon after doing everything I possibly could in White Orchard. So probably 15 hours or so?

And yeah, the beginning armor looks the best but I'm sure some of the mid to latter stuff is cool too.

My only problem with most of the armors - even light armors - is that they make him look fat.
I currently have him wearing the Griffin armor - one of the three upgradeable sets of witcher armor (changes appearance and not just stats when upgraded) - and it looks okay aside from the bulk. Supposedly the feline armor set (available around level 17) is a slimmer look, like the starting armor.
The ursine heavy armor - I've seen a picture - looks pretty cool even despite it's bulk.

The first Witcher was only on PC if I recall correctly. Witcher 2 was originally a PC exclusive, but got an XBox 360 release a year or two later.
I played the first but got too bored to continue some 10-15 hours into it. Witcher 2 unfortunately had hardware requirements that made my at the time otherwise still mostly capable gaming PC cry in despair. It was essentially unplayable at 20-25 fps, and I couldn't take that for more than a few hours.

I'm playing Witcher 3 on a PS4.

I'm hooked on a WW1 FPS game for PC called Verdun. Highly realistic, beautiful graphics, and complete butchery. It's crazy seeing a couple dozen Huns charging at your trench, with just a rifle or trench shovel to defend yourself.

Games based on historic events are always the most interesting, you can learn quite a bit.

The only good armor models are the Witcher ones.

You can track down the diagrams for the Feline, Ursine and Griffin school armors. The other decent looking one is the you get for getting the tools for the Armorsmith in Crow's Perch.

You kids are making me want to get The Witcher 3....

I played some of the second one on 360 and it was pretty good but I managed to lose interested like 10 hours in. I feel like I should give it another whirl before I dive into the the new Witcher.

I didn't even hook up my Xbox one here in Colombia, just the 360 and I only used it to stream the rest of House of Cards. I'm headed to Romania in 5 days.. not sure if I will do any Xbox gaming there or not. I am excited for E3 next month though. There should be some big news dropping this year I think.

I'm looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077, also developed by CD Projekt Red.

I'd also buy a proper HD remake of Final Fantasy VII.

Anything that Dennaton Games makes in the future I'd buy as well.

If you have your Xbox One on you in the Fall, go ahead and send me a friend invite if you want. Especially if you're going to get Black Ops 3.

And Fallout 4. If they announce that at E3 this year for the Fall, that's gonna be the best.

Speaking of game of thrones. There is an easter egg with our favourite it lannister in the witcher. Not spoiling anything but I thought it was pretty good

Pictures of all the four variants of the three upgradeable witcher armors, for those who talked about the poor armor choices in the game.

I'd love an HD remake of FFVII. The only reservation I have about it though is that the Square Enix of today is not at all like the Squaresoft of yesteryear. The protagonists after the PS1 generation have all been rather dramatic and overly effeminate. Square's FF7 spin-offs have also transformed Cloud into a bit of an emo sissy whereas in the original FF7, he was more of a stoic nihilist(He outright admits that he doesn't care about the planet and is just working for the terrorists for the pay in the beginning). If the remake every comes about, they'll likely make him into another Tidus or Hope, finally killing off the series for good.

On the topic of this thread: I really don't play video games anymore. Like others have noted, as I've aged, I've simply become unable to play video games for any length of time. When I was 13, I could play for 12 hours straight and not blink, but now, I'll struggle to get in even 20 min on most games. It's gone from being relaxing and fun to exhaustive and boring. I might give Final Fantasy XV a shot though and pray that I'm pleasantly surprised(Like I was with GTA V). I remember waiting for it for years so I figure I owe my teenage self that much.

To anyone who played Halo: The Master Chief Collection a month after it came out, Halo 3: ODST is now available for free download. Gonna definitely be playing this within the next couple weeks.

I came so hard while watching that. I am going to build a pc specifically to play that game, might as well start saving up. Does anyone here have any experience with building a PC?

Well, we don't know the requirements for Fallout 4, so I can't give you specifics, but I want to build a PC that can run it at maximum settings with mods. I have no budget, I will drop a grand if necessary. I needed to build a PC to run/record XCOM: Long War anyways, so I was expecting to be spending some money.

Very, very nice.

I'm surprised they didn't wait until E3 to announce this. It would no doubt be the biggest announcement at this year's E3.

@honourableman I am gonna use the witcher3 as a benchmark. An i5 4670k should be good a good choice. I7 are mostly used if you are video editing. Your gonna get more for your money with an i5. But as you said we don't know the specs yet and the game could be cpu heavy.

Graphics card. I have a msi gtx 970 that I overclock a bit so I get same performance 980. The gtx equivalent is amd 290. Which is a bit more expensive last time I checked.

Ram. Don't do that much for graphicAl performance but more for how much stuff you can have on your screen and draw distance if remember correctly. But I think 8 or 12 gig would be the minimum for fallout 4

They still are sort of.

No game play footage until E3.
