Hmm. Promising intel on Phoenix.
Gonna have to check the apartment and condo prices there. Phoenix should have cheap property. Could be a potential home base if it wasn't hotter than an oven 8 months out of 12

Bumping this thread, just returned from a trip to Scottsdale. Oldtown is great for day drinking, but it dies out around 10:30 or 11pm.
On the other hand, the Entertainment District is the place to go at night. Although it's still technically considered Oldtown, it's a bit North of the heart of Oldtown. The Entertainment District easily has 12 bars and clubs all within walking district, including the W, Maya and Whiskey Row.
If you want to stay around there, the W is the place to be. I stayed in Northern Scottsdale, and it was a 10 minute drive down Scottsdale Rd. to get there. You can google Entertainment District Scottsdale for the exact location of each bar, but for a quick reference the Entertainment district is a small pocket west of Scottsdale/Drinkwater, and in between Camelback Rd. and Indian School.
Also, for those of you planning a trip you want to understand the different areas of Scottsdale. There's Scottsdale, Old town Scottsdale, South Scottsdale and Northern Scottsdale. And then there's Arcadia and Paradise Valley, which are technically different areas but encompass the area everyone considers Scottsdale.
The poorer area of Scottsdale is South Scottsdale and I would not recommend staying there. Old town, which includes downtown and the Entertainment District, is central with bars, restaurants all within walking district.
Northern Scottsdale is where all the money is. It's also where all the cougars and hot girls live. I personally enjoy staying in Northern Scottsdale because it reminds me of where I'm from in Southern California. The problem with North Scottsdale is that the nightlife consists of restaurants/lounges like Sumomaya and Ra, both on Scottsdale Rd. I'm used to hitting up girls at these kinds of places, but I imagine many guys would be uncomfortable in these situations. Many girls are seated eating dinner and you have to work the whole table.
For day game I would hit the Kieran Commons and the Scottsdale Quarter. Of course, day game in the Summer would be miserable. One good spot is the Press coffee house at the Scottsdale Quarter. Go there for a cup of coffee at like 9 am on weekend and wait for the Cougars to come in.
Also here are some notes about Phoenix in general. Nightlife in Phoenix proper is spread out and you have to know where to go. I would not recommend hanging out n Phoneix unless you absolutely have to. Other than Scottsdale, you have Tempe (ASU) but as some have mentioned it's a young scene. Of course no man outgrows 21 year old girls. But it's safe to say that we all outgrow the 21 year old party scene. Beyond those two, hit the Westfield area of Glendale (great for Mexican girls) and then Chandler.

Scotts at night, Scotts weekend brunch, and Tempe during uni.
Then enjoy the hikes, the trips to Sedona, and Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West.
Book a visit to Phoenix, fellas.

Is it better to stay in Scottsdale or Phoenix? I’ll be there Saturday, Sunday, and Monday night in October.
I’m black, and I prefer night game. I can do daygame, but I find night game is more accessible to me because I have a regular 9-5.
What interests me about Arizona is the weather, landscape, and cultural history. I’d be interested in going to local museums to learn about history of the Wild West and Native Americans. I also speak Spanish, so I’d be fine going to ethnically Mexican spots, too.
I met a Mormon girl from Arizona in college. She triggered me!

Been wanting to visit some of the cities in the state of AZ, heard things are taking off there big time.
What kinds of guys do well in places like Scotsdale and Tempe though?
I hear they are really "bro-ish" type of cities so it really a scene for fratty looking white dudes and athletic black dudes? One of my friends is Latino and claims that it really hurt him but he was in Tempe, doing alright where we are at now though.

Thanks for the suggestions you guys.
@Dodgy: I’m not specifically targetting Mormons. Meeting her just opened my mind up to visiting Arizona!

It does not surprise me about your friend. Being Latino in Phoenix, is like being black in Detroit. His ethnicity does not help him at all. If he wants to be a novelty by virtue of being latino, go to a college town in the Pacific North West, or Mid West. Or he can stay in the valley and develop his game.

So I see why staying at W is the move — access to the parties.
how about the surrounding hotels? They are way cheaper. Scottsdale Marriot, Hyatt Place/House or even Aloft House are $100/night cheaper. What am I missing out on besides free access to the W’s parties? The other hotels appear close enough to Scottsdale’s entertainment district.
I’m willing to drop the cash for the W...but I figure it’s fair to ask about the other spots!

Does this carry over on to other brown and more ethnic races too?
I would assume an East Asian guy could probably do well but how about an Arab or Indian looking dude, do we get thrown into the same box as Mexicans because people think all brown is the same?
I've had some curiosity about AZ since I hear so much hype about it.
Honestly, I don't know. My guess is that most people can tell the difference between an Indian or an Arab and a Mexican. I can usually tell a difference in facial features, and I can definitely tell between accents if there is one. I have no idea if there is a lot of that racial group in the area or not. What I do know is that Latinos have always been and are the larger minority in the state.

I live in old town for 6 years now. I Go to the W easily once a month.
Stay at the W.
If that's out of budget, there's a best western plus THATS SOLID directly across the street, 40 yards away. I know, sounds weird.
Aloft hotel is good too. And rebranded less than 2 years ago.
Skip the Marriott. The other 3 hotels are shorter walking distance from everything.
Valley ho hotel is great too. Locals will like that you're staying there, $5 cab from everything.
It's 2018 as I write this. For those of you reading this in 2019 or 2020. There are 5 new luxury hotels being built or in the planning stages Now for old town. So check back in later.
Pool parties are amazing in this city. W, valley ho, Sauargo and maya day club for pool parties.. all have a different scene. All are fun.
IF you're younger, some logic suggests try south scottsdale so you can get to both mill ave in Tempe (ASU bars) and old town. Unless you find something really cheap, just take an $11 uber and stay in old town.
What's your age? it will make me give you different suggestions on the bars. Also, scottsdale bar scene/crowds change every 6 to 12 months. Old advice is not good advice.
I've been lurking on this site for over 10 years, reading Roosh's first posts. Been to over 60 countries. I got a lil bit of expierence when it comes to this.

Good old scottsdale. I am moving back to AZ and scottsdale this month from the east coast. I missed the people and believe it or not the weather. It is hot a balls but once you adjust it is the best. Super sunny blah blah blah. To the folk that still live out that way how much has the scene changed since 2016?
I used to live just off scottsdale road in north scottsdale. That is where I will probably move back to at the end of this month.
