Valley ho hotel is great too. Locals will like that you're staying there, $5 cab from everything.

Gonna second this. Valley Ho is a hotel's hotel. Independent ownership, cool rooms, historic building, convenient location, great bar, sweet pool that's positioned to catch shade as early in the afternoon as possible, good gym, nice spa, and I'm told they take pride in guest privacy in keeping with the original purpose of the place, so 1960s celebrities could cheat on their wives in peace.

The oldies music can get a little old and the Jersey Shore scene that erupts when the prices crash and the pool parties bring in DJ Drizzle Snakenuts or whatever the fuck cater to lower-end locals during the summer can be a little weird, but it's always worth checking prices there. Their status program, iPrefer, will match with most your elite status from other hotel networks if you email them proof of membership.

Hey everyone, I was in Scottsdale last weekend.

Friday: I arrived in the evening. After checking into the hotel, I showered and walked over to the W. Everything that has been said about this place is true — it’s the place to go. I got in by doing exactly what Hencridible Casanova did, telling the bouncer that I stayed at the W (I didn’t). There are two levels, a downstairs which had subdued lighting and a live band. Upstairs had a pool, and cool lights set up because apparently there had been a fashion runway party earlier in the evening.

I made friends with some people there. they were plugged into the nightlife scene, and they took me to Riot House then Casa Amigos. These seemed like the spots where mostly mid-20s to early 30s crowd hangs out.

Saturday: As per the suggestions from Sdsven, I went to Boondocks around 11pm. Mostly mid-20s crowd. A lot of people seemed to be young professionals that just moved from the midwest, Pacific northwest, or California. It has a main bar, several side bars, wooden tables in an open patio setup, and a dance floor that is right in front of a giant ass TV.
They were showing football games on the TV.

Music was a mix of pop, country, and hip hop. Good vibes, girls were dancing and getting fucked up. A lot of big and mixed groups, I didn’t see that many girls going out in just a pair of two. Might just be an age thing.

Monday:
Met up with Slim Shady on Monday. He was a gracious host!

I had a fantastic time in Scottsdale, even though I did not pull. However, the hot weather, beautiful geography, and the warm reception I got from the locals made this trip worth it. I do think Old Town Scottsdale could get old pretty quickly, so next time I come to the area, I’ll check out ASU in Tempe and other spots in downtown Phoenix.

I was just in Scottsdale in March and the girls are without a doubt the best in Arizona. At a close second is Tempe and the areas around ASU.

Unfortunately outside of Scottsdale and Tempe, Arizona is really weak.

So I've heard. Even Tucson reportedly sucks which is kinda surprising with the University of Arizona being there.

UofA has really hot girls, and this is coming from an ASU grad

Az has some of the hottest girls in the country by far. I didn’t really realize this until I went to places like Seattle where everyone is fat and ugly

"other spots in downtown Phoenix"

I live in downtown Phoenix, and there's really not a whole lot of good venues for meeting women. Well, unless you like fat Mexican girls in dresses that fit them like a sausage casing. The dance clubs downtown are trash.

Copper Blues is okay, but it's usually an older (late 30s and up) crowd because the music is 80s and 90s cover bands. Gypsy Bar is usually loaded with ugly people in their 30s. Lustre is a decent outdoor venue, especially if you like lesbians and expensive drinks. There are good events for daygaming like the Urban Ale Trail and Urban Wine Walk, but these are annual events so you have to time it right.

Downtown Phoenix has some good bars and restaurants, but night game generally sucks. There are better venues even in the suburbs, especially if you like imitation country girls and can dance a little.

Downtown nightlife scene has gotten a lot better though in the last 5 years. I was the only white guy in my crew though lol it helps if you have some urban flavor to vouch for you

Hey what’s up guys. Longggg time lurker/reader here and finally created an account.
So just a brief intro:
White
32 years old (look mid 20’s)
Well above average looks
Well dressed and well traveled
5’11’’ 170-175 fit but not jacked
From and live in NY
Have been to about 10 states and about 14 countries.
Game level is pretty good but could be better in certain areas especially the cold approach. Great at closing not always great at opening.

Anyway.....just got back from a weekend trip to Scottsdale to visit my older half-brother who lives in Mesa about 15 minutes from Scottsdale (he’s 55). Stayed in his 2 bed 2 bath condo which obviously didn’t cost me anything. Read and heard a lot of good things about Scottsdale before coming but still tried to limit my expectations as to not be disappointed. Unfortunately however I was extremely disappointed and would probably never go back if it wasn’t for the fact my brother lives there. I actually feel pretty bad and guilty for disliking the place so much but oh well.

I flew in from NY to Phoenix on a Friday night and got in around 7:30 west coast time. I was pretty tired and jet lagged but was excited to hit the town. First we grabbed a quick bite at in-n-out burger in Tempe and then headed off to Old Town Scottsdale. We got there pretty early (around 830) and started out at a place called the bottled blonde which was located near a bunch of other similar open air bars. It was pretty empty when we got there but all the girls who worked there were hot and mostly wearing lingerie which was pretty revealing and interesting to say the least. Nice to look at but I know better than to waste time hitting on the half naked bar staff. There were a couple of cute younger girls (21-23?) a dozen or so bar stools away from us who I definitely felt like were giving me some looks and vice versa. At that point I was still pretty out of it and trying to wake up and catch a buzz drinking my small $16 Tito’s and red bulls. Anyway I never built up the motivation to make a move, shit the bed, and lost my opportunity. Around 10 the place started to fill up so I thought ok this is getting good. But not really. The ratio got pretty bad pretty quick. I would say 2-3 guys for every girl at least and the girls not really my type at all. Loaded with make up, fake eyelashes, fake lips, fake tits etc. INCREDIBLY superficial both looks wise and personality. The place quickly became overpacked to the point where we couldn’t move and the music was overbearingly loud. This seemed to be the situation with almost every other place on the strip. I personally can’t operate in a place where I can’t move or hear and I get irritated pretty quickly. So we walk a block or so off the main strip and hit another place that I can’t remember the name of. Inside bar and outside bar/patio with a small but decent crowd and music low enough to still hear. We spent most of the time by the outside bar. A cute Mexican girl with an average body then asked my brother for a cigarette and he gave her one and we all started talking. She was 24 and from Arizona but there with her husband and other girlfriends who all seemed to have husbands/boyfriends. She was nice and friendly and at one point quipped “you guys are both good looking I’d do ya both” (with her husband standing not too far away). Kinda laughed it off and continued being friendly then she introduced us to all her friends but as I said all had boyfriends so that was a dead end. A little later I was about to leave so I said goodnight to her and her friends and she asked me for my number right in front of her husband which I thought was strange but gave it to her anyway. She ended up texting me later and said “Hey it’s Arin definitely hit us up next time you’re in AZ” so I replied “sounds good! I’m here till Monday”. At this point hoping maybe she had a single friend or 2 that she could bring out the next night but didn’t hear back from her after that so whatever.

Saturday:

We decide to first try a place in Tempe called “the yard” which is a big warehouse type of bar/restaurant with a large bar, couches, and a dance floor. Got there around 930-10 and it’s pretty dead. We don’t even stay for a drink and just head straight to the W in Old Town Scottsdale. We walk right in and up the stairs to a rooftop lounge/bar with good not too loud music and quite a big crowd. We soon realize that there’s some sort of fundraiser and corporate event going on with all kinds of mortgage firms, law firms, real estate brokerages etc. they all have their own tables and are all wearing some sort of ID tags around their necks. They seemed to all know each other and not really be mingling with anyone else other than their groups. Lots of talent for sure but didn’t seem to be many or anyone there who didn’t belong to one of these groups/companies. Also got the impression that a lot of the people there had A LOT of money. We stayed for a drink and decided to just go back to the less crowded place I forget the name of from Friday night. Once again it’s pretty dead but still 40-50 people there so we decide to just stick it out and make the best of it. We have several drinks there but nothing really materializes and we call it a night.

Sunday-

We decide to skip Scottsdale all together and go to a place called the monastery in Mesa. A lot more casual and laid back than the places in Scottsdale with an inside bar and a huge outside patio, bar, and 2 volleyball courts with sand. We get there around 9 and it’s pretty dead with about 30 people mostly guys and couples. We see one of my brothers friends there so we end up just having a few beers and bullshitting with him. Turns out he’s originally from NY and has been in AZ for years now. He said the place was good earlier in the afternoon and can be very good depending on the night and far less pretentious than Snottsdale as he called it. We both agreed that the girls from NYC/LI could be pretty pretentious and snobby but that Scottsdale is FAR worse. I’ve never seen anything like it. I could definitely see the potential here just not on a Sunday night.

Overall:

I did not like Scottsdale at all. I found it to be extremely superficial and pretentious and don’t see a whole lot of potential there for me at all. I hardly got any looks or indicators of interest which is pretty unusual for me. Maybe if I had a younger wingman closer to my age it would have made a difference but still I didn’t get the impression that it would have changed all that much. Just not my style whatsoever. I also was not a fan of the bars/clubs and didn’t dig the vibe there at all. Even just from the outside they reminded me of the cheesy tourist places in Cancun with bright gimmicky signs. They also all seemed to have ridiculously long lines to get in. As others have noted I really didn’t see many opportunities for day game either. I’m sure some guys would like it and do well but just not for me. Next time I go back to visit my bro I will def avoid Scottsdale.

Suck to hear you had a bad time man.

But your obvervations are right, hotties around, fake everything, there's ALOT of talent, but ALOT of competitions.

Scottsdale is ASU's/Tempe's playground for after you graduate from college.

You'll notice there's not many fast food joints in Scott's along with everyone is in shape and fairly attractive.

As far as money, yes Scottsdale is called Snobsdale for a reason, it's basically AZ's Silicon Valley.

As far as lines go, yeah that's pretty standard around 10PM we usually get in a bit early after pregaming, check the scene, and bounce if its wack.

I was just there recently and I had a blast, was basically finger blasting a MILF Polish cutie at Blondie's.

I was out there because my buddy lives around the corner, we rolled in a group of 8-10 guys, all the guys were on top of their game and pulled girls to our table right away.

We even roped in a bachelorette party.

Who you go with makes a big difference, 2 guys might not be enough, especially if there is an age gap.

You gotta be sharp dressed, sharp on your game, and body language in a place like that is huge.

It sucks you had a shitty experience, I'd say give it one more chance, or hell even hit 5th and mill in Tempe and chase the younger college girls out for a good time!

I second both of you fellas. Remember, the un-interesting truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Zona' is a funny place (Tempe/Scotts/Mesa), is like a mirage (i.e. desert) sometimes bc there is a lot of talent but its semi-fake (really fake) but coming from a shittier city in the midwest I'd say give it a few chances and you can probably yank sum monkey meat along the way that's decent but again hard call

I went out big that Friday and Saturday.

Spot on observation about bottle blonde. WAY to packed for the past year or 2. (It’s been open for about 4 years now)

I was at that event at the W on Saturday, wearing a suit. It’s a great event. Lot of the girls there were put together really nice, but a lot were actually sweethearts (remember it was a charity event for kids at $150 a ticket). But I can assume a lot of girls at that event are looking for BF’s. (What kind of girl spends $160 for an event???) and there is nothing wrong with a girl gettin all dolled up for a fun event and looking for that. But if you say you’re from out of town, I’d imagine they were not looking for a 1 night stand that night with an out of towner.

Bars that are not too crowded these days (again, things change every 6 months around here) are bevvy, Dakota, boondocks, Kelly’s and waisted grain.

You just went to the most crowded bars in a 1 block radius. We have dozens of other bars in old town besides those.

@kaotic Haha nice yeah sounds like you had a much better time. And I def did see a lot of bigger groups of guys. I’m sure if I had a couple guys with me closer to my age it could’ve went differently but I still don’t see it as somewhere I’d really want to go back to absent the fact my brother lives there. By contrast I was recently in Austin and had a blast and I always do well and have a great time in Montreal

@sdsven. Yeah we had no idea what the event was for or that there was even one going to be there that night. I generally didn’t like the vibe of most of the places around there and unfortunately my brother is probably a bit out of touch with where to go on what nights. . I definitely didn’t feel under dressed. First night I was wearing a nice plaid collar shirt with nice jeans and boat shoes and Saturday nice collar shirt again, nice watch, nice jeans, and dress boots. However there were a lot of guys wearing suits at the W. I figured being a hotter climate AZ would be more casual as far as how people dress but not really. And yeah I was def not out looking for a relationship. I had very limited time to make something happen.

I think right there you have the two sides of the East Valley coin. It is a lot of Midwestern and SoCal transplants, both of whom are happy to be there and are mostly on the nouveau riche/bougie side. The nightlife has a ton of money and status pouring through, like a tiny, cheaper, less-transient Las Vegas, and this is a setting where you can either tune out that noise or maybe it isn't worth it to you. The flipside is that a lot of these women have just never been burned by life and are basically upbeat and feminine, plus under a lot of competitive pressure to take care of themselves - even if they might be spoiled/entitled.

With that in mind, a good answer to being "out of town" is to say you "split your time". A lot of high-status men divide their time between Los Angeles/Chicago/New York for work and Scottsdale for a permanent residence, and nobody local will think that's weird unless you totally whiff basic questions about the area. Local real estate is normal small talk. A lot of women actually demonstrated considerably more interest when I mentioned working in New York, a lot of them have never been and they want to hear all about it.

Old Town is unreal. My friends and I are killing it out here. Constant stream of hoes through my apt, which is walking distance from the clubs. Degeneracy ensues.

If you are running in the slightly more affluent/snobbish SoSco and Paradise Valley crowd, local establishment is key to success. I have started doing this myself to great reward. First, I have a local 602 sim that I throw in to my phone every week or so to check messages. Second, I have started staying in the same condo every time I am in Phoenix. I have found that having an identifiable "winter home" really helps with repeat customers. Finally, I follow the news in The Valley fairly closely. I downloaded the AZFamily/3TV app on to my phone and I have a separate Twitter/News feed set up for Phoenix/AZ news and events. Starting a week or two out before I head over, I start watching Good Morning Arizona while I am getting ready. And, I will scroll through the news feeds a few times throughout the day. I hit the ground running when I land, and I am able to make small talk with ease.

Phoenix is the fifth (I believe) largest city in the US, but the crowds that frequent Old Town, The Biltmore Corridor, and those areas are much smaller. They are often cliquish and insular. New girls show up on a regular basis - recent ASU/UA grads, SoCal transports, and the like - but, they don't show up with enough frequency that you can constantly game in the same venues without running in to the same girls. Social circle and "friends" game work much better with these sets. Hence, the "wintering" type of game. Set yourself up as a regular, who is, more or less a resident of The Valley.

@slim shady. I definitely get the impression that living there VS just visiting for a weekend does make a big difference.

@tiger man. Yeah I really wasn’t feeling the vibe of the places or the people. But once again if I had a younger wingman/crew I’m sure things would have went a bit differently. I knew going out there with my brother who is significantly older than me might pose a problem but I was hoping to play up the whole “I’m just a nice guy visiting family” angle. Which obviously didn’t work but I think in the right environment it could.

I can also vouch for the amount of fit girls out here. That shit had me triggered. All those girls in their rompers combined with the nighttime heat...perfect vibe for meeting nice honey in the desert.

I only visited for a weekend, but I feel very strongly that if I established myself here, I would be killing it. I'm still very curious about the pool party scene in Scottsdale.

Didn't check out Phoenix, but y'all have an NBA team, so I'm sure I could carve out some niche in the sports bar/after party scene.

Going back one of these days...

Downtown PHX is a lot livelier now than when I was growing up here, but it is still nothing like Tempe/Old Town.

IMO the girls are hotter in Old Town than Vegas, but also harder to game.
