This video might deserve its own thread since this game is probably a dream game for a lot of you. Final Fantasy 7 remake with at least Final Fantasy 13 graphics... on ps4 and sounds like other consoles. The video teaser sucks though doesn't show much and no gameplay. I would think gameplay would easier to pull of than cinemas since the models are much lower resolution and the rendering is real time.

These guys were quite excited to see Final Fantasy 7 remade. One of them cried. I was excited to see Final Fantasy 7 return. But not like this.

I'm excited to play this. Looks like Castle Crashers-style gameplay with Popeye graphics.

Fantastic E3 for both Microsoft and Sony!

They are at 3 million kickstarter for Shenmue 3 and now Sony is funding it too. Does that mean they will refund the kickstarter supporters? So they might be able to get 70 million (what the original cost was in 1999).

Give back the money? No way.

Kickerstarter is glorified pre ordering.

From what I saw Microsoft killed it this year at E3... they had lots of big news. Sony had the FF7 remake but its not going to be a PS4 exclusive just a timed exclusive... It's still HUGE news though. I hope it does well and they remake FF3 on SNES (its like maybe ff6 in japan or something) Thats one of my all time favorites.. Every few years I would hook up the SNES and play back through it.

Xbox one backwards compatible say... say what??

It is 6 in japan. They did remake it on the iphone and android however it looks like shit. They are talking about a proper remake but after FF7.

Backward compatible should be a launch feature like in the past. PS4 probably doesn't have it either.

Dude a proper current gen remake of FF3 would make me so moist down there... if you know what I am saying.

An no PS4 is not bacward compatible.

It's been known as VI in the west as well. After the SNES era they started to give the first six entries their original titles(which is why VI's re-release on the GBA was known as FFVI).

Ditto, the story could use an overhaul as well. It had an interesting premise that was botched by poor execution.

Gameplay seems more Megaman-style to me but yeah, one of most promising upcoming games for sure.

And the real winner of E3 was PC for sure; it didn't get a silly "spectacle" of a show dedicated to the platform in order to awe the more simpleminded among us, but pretty much every game of note at the Big Two's shows were either fully multiplatform or single console + PC.

As for the FFVI discussion in the couple of posts above: Nomura (the director of this remake) has said that he'd like to remake V or VI in the future as well, which would obviously turn out to be VI because of its popularity.

As long as they do/don't do the following things, it's going to be amazing (already was going to get a PS4 for Uncharted 4 anyways):

Begin the nerd-out. Some spoilers?

- Update the pointy, crappy (yes, crappy) in-game graphics. Interactive environment would be nice.
- Keep the Materia system. Hell, the addition of some sort of ability system connected to armor for buffs wouldn't even be so bad in addition (then again, by the end of the game my party is already ridiculously overpowered anyways) .
- Stay away from fan-servicey crap (ie - Sephiroth never kills Aeris etc,.).
- No new characters...but to be honest, I could do without Cait Sith.
- Correct several errors with the in-game text - I'd prefer no voice acting but if it's respectable it's okay.
- Keep the open-world map. Maps have been linear since FFX (with the exception of the underrated FFXII) and I hate it.
- No gimmicks with the battle system, no changing it to real time battles - the system used in FFX would be a more than ideal upgrade. The ability to swap in fresh characters + double enemy health.
- Don't cut or censor some of the more 'problematic' scenes - the Don Corneo arc, the Barret-Dyne arc (or the fact that with a gun, a loud, brash attitude and a white girl, Barret is basically 'black guy'), the Sephiroth backstory etc,. Thankfully Square-Enix is not an American company but they will feel heat for some of this.
- Option to skip summon animations after the first time you see them.
- Remaster the score. Keep the original tracks but get the Tokyo Philharmonic on them (like they did for Dragon Quest 8).
- Tifa's tits are as big as my head. Let's keep it that way. Also keep the romantic subtext between characters (Cloud-Tifa, Cloud-Aeris) ambiguous. I know a lot more girls play games these days and they want their 'true love' romances - RESIST!
- NO BULLSHIT DLC PACKS! Imagine getting to the City of the Ancients, seeing the famous scene there and 'To proceed to Disc 2, receive a new outfit for Tifa and a new weapon for Barret, please pay $8.99!'. I would personally fly to Tokyo to bitchslap Nomura.
- Refine Chocobo breeding - hate that shit. Less dependence on the races, hell if you could even find blue or green ones out there in rare battle encounters that'd work for me.
- Controversial opinion: Disc 1 FFVII, best game ever. Disc 2? Hits the wall like Tara Reid and doesn't gain momentum back until after the weapons get released. I'd not be opposed to multiple POVs (like FFIII did a few times) as long as it doesn't tamper with the original story.
- Speaking of the story...just a touch more exposition. Until you log 2-3 playthroughs, the story is about as clear as mud (and who has the time for 2-3 playthroughs of a game that takes about 60 hours? Me playing the game in my early teens yes, me in my 30's now, no) - Cloud is a clone of Sephiroth who has Zach's memories. You're chasing Jenova-controlled Sephiroth and not Sephiroth himself. Aeris is the last of the Cetra, who were killed by Jenova, Shinra thought the Jenova corpse they found was a Cetra and used it's cells to create Sephiroth with the intent of making a super soldier etc,. etc,. etc,. It's hardly the only game of it's era with a needlessly complex and convoluted story (looking at you, all-time-great Chrono Cross - which I've new game +'ed at least ten times and STILL don't fully comprehend), but am I wrong to assume that an average gamer in 2017 is dumber than an average gamer in 1997?
- A few really cool areas get the short shift and maybe a few optional missions can be added to give them more screen time (and no, not in the form of DLCs). Thinking specifically of Wutai, Cosmo Canyon and Costa Del Sol.
- Last, but not least...RESIST THE URGE TO TIE IN THE LORE FROM THE BULLSHIT AND UNNECESSARY SPINOFFS!

If they can do all of more of this, it'll be good. I have FFVII on my PS3, maybe I'll start her up again come winter (of course in my opinion III/VI is superior and I have more personal fondness for X, but neither of those are VII).

Also don't forget autogrinding setup similar to Bravely Default. Grinding was a chore when you had free time.

Save anywhere. I'm currently slowly playing Lost Odyssey where it takes about 2-4 hours between save points, so I can hardly play it. You have to allot that much time which is hard to do. FF7 was like that.

No political correctness. I believe they made fun of gays and trannies in FF7. To make it more realistic will cause seismic level triggering.

Auto-grinding and 4 time speed battles like Bravely Default for faster leveling.

Save anywhere at almost any time. Most fans are going to be in college or working now, so they don't have the time to wait 4 hours for a save spot.

FF7 is so beloved by the greater gaming community that there would be a large pushback if the SJW tried to get 'problematic' aspects of it censored or removed.

Further, I'm sure there's no small amount of gushing love declarations from the typists at kotaku, polygon, etc, so if they tried it, it would be another obvious about-face that will wake some people up.

I know the Call of Duty franchise gets hated on because many of the games are generic and 'the same thing', but I am losing it right now over having to wait 5 more months for Black Ops III. Treyarch makes the best CODs, and I have a feeling this one is going to be the best yet.

I also haven't played a COD (or really any game) since senior year of high school. I miss the social aspect of games like COD. You can play these kinds of games for hours and still have a blast as long as you're playing with your buds.

If anyone is interested in getting this game for Xbox One and wants people to play with, by all means hit me up.

Disagree. The intermittent ability to save in FF7 in my opinion created tension and a sense of urgency in between save points. You weren't ever sure when you'd be able to save the game next. Single-chance opportunities come and go for special items.

Letting you save anywhere, anytime would nerf the game. Much like how games are easier these days than they were in the 90's.

I haven't played Lost Odyssey but if I recall, the save points in FFVII were never more than 30-60 minutes apart.

Anyway I just remember the feeling of seeing those fluorescent, floating "S" save points and feeling a wave of relief that my progress would be saved. Taking those away would make actions and battles a whole lot less consequential.

Lost Odyssey would place them about 2 to 4 hours apart (always tons of cinemas and bosses between them). The first save spot for the first boss was after the first boss, which was hard by the way. A temp save would make these type of games easier to play if you have to go somewhere, and like to resume when you get some free time to find the save spot. The other problem is the long as text where the main characters remember their past. They are good stories but really drawn out and should have been done with gameplay or cinema. Who wants to read a novel when playing a game? Game is great otherwise, probably best in 2008.

I pre-ordered it. Looks pretty badass. I have Advanced Warfare and been playing it quite a bit and that's dope but I feel like BO3 is going to put it to shame. I'm down to roll with a squad as well, I'll PM you my gamertag and anyone else on here that's down for multiplayer on Xbone.

The only thing that bugs me is that Activision is continuing the console partnership to distribute exclusive DLC 30 days earlier on Playstation 4. Before it was Xbox One and Xbox 360, but now they've switched to Sony. For any console, I wish this was not a common trend. This and the fact that the game will be available on previous-generation consoles bugs me. This splits up the Black Ops III community among 5 platforms. (I still wish that cross-platform play was possible, but I'm being unrealistic.)

But on a large scale, these aren't huge complaints. The game looks great and everyone who's had a chance to play it says it feels smooth. Not to mention the fact that it's only in its pre-alpha stage, meaning that feedback will lead to small tweaks and changes that will make the game that we get on November 6 near-perfect.

The beta comes in August. Look forward to it!

Looks good from what I can see in the video. I like the fact it looks like it only takes a few shots to kill someone.
