Good timing on this thread. Appreciate all the knowledge everyone is dropping.

I'm headed to Miami for 5 nights next weekend. Thursday-Tuesday. Got a pretty sweet 1 bdrm through AirBnB on 17th and Collins, with a balcony that looks over the beach. Staying there Thur-Sun, then crashing at a buddies house Sunday and Monday.

My nights will probably be a mix of going out solo and meeting up with friends. I don't have a crazy bank roll, but can spend a few hundred in a night if it looks like it will be worth it. My game is solid. I crush 7's in NYC with relative ease (and sometimes's 8's & 9's), and have traveled and gamed solo with good results in Playa Del Carmen, Rio, and Bangkok.

If I get any good stories or info to share, will definitely post it up here.

This should be fun.

How did it go?

Definitely a lot of fun. A lot of my trip was seeing old friends, so wasn't able to dedicate the whole trip to gaming, but will share what spots I thought were good.

1st issue was the weather kind of sucked all weekend. Cloudy and rainy, so day game and the beach were pretty much a no go. I was solo my first night on Thursday, and found the Beach to be pretty dead. Not sure if every Thursday is like that, but the coldish/windy weather certainly didn't help either. The streets were literally dead. Almost no one walking down Washington, Collins, or Ocean Dr. I bounced around from The Delano, to Playwright Lounge, Abbey Brewing Co, and finally to the Clevelander/Mango's duo which were pretty much the only places that had any people. But the crowds kind of sucked and by then it was almost 2am and I just wasn't feeling it anymore so went home.

Friday I hit up the Heat game, which was great. Then went to a new area for me called Wynwood, which I loved. I live in NYC, and it kind of felt like Williamsburg/Brooklyn in Miami. Really artsy and Wood Tavern had lots of good looking girls. Not South Beach quality, but definitely a fun and friendly crowd, and very much my type of scene. Also hit up Electric Pickle which was a kind of fun divey house music spot that also had some good looking ladies. The whole area is just a lot more laid back than South Beach which was a nice change up. After a few hours in that area, my buddy and I headed to South Beach looking for a party. He wasn't staying out late, so we mainly focused on the bars.

Ted's Hideaway: No girls unfortunately and kinda dead.
Playwright Lounge: Also dead.
Foxhole Lounge: A bit more of a party here with a pretty good crowd. Chatted up some Australian girls, and after being a bit standoffish, were all over us in short order. Unfortunately I guess I got a bit too aggressive with this one girl and she grabbed her friend to leave. I think she was just wasted and overreacted, but whatever. Was 3am by this point and kinda dead so headed home.

Saturday was just hanging out with some married friends, so wasn't really gaming. Watched UFC at Playwright then headed to Automatic Slims across the street which was ok. We made a quick stop by the Clevelander, which was bumping pretty nicely with lots of good looking laides, but my married friends wanted to do what married friends do at that point so we hit up Club Madonna. Hot girls, but didn't really like the attitudes of any of them.

Sunday was just a marathon drinking and watching football session. Duffy's and Sandbar in the Grove are great for that if you're in the that area. Sandbar had hot waitresses to.

So yeah, didn't really get much action on the trip, but had a fun time hanging with friends I hadn't seen in awhile. I think if the weather had been a little better, Thursday and Friday night would have been a bit more successful. No worries though.

Next time I go I definitely plan on hitting up the club action a bit more. Mansion def had a lot of hotties outside on Saturday night.

Let me know if you guys have any questions.

You hit up quite a few local spots. I've had some crazy late nights at the pickle. Usually after the Sobe clubs. I like the design district, wood tavern can be fun. The amount of tallent is ridiculous during art walk on second Saturdays and the girls are much friendlier than their counter parts in Sobe. The abbey has great beer too!

The reason everything was dead was because it's off season. But still even in off season it's usually better than most the us. This time of year it often gets overcast and rainy in the afternoons.

Next time steer clear of madonnas. It's just not worth it from what I hear, but I've never even been. Thing that sucks about the good strip clubs is they're all far away, up towards ft lauderdale.

Yep.

This is exactly what I am talking about.

Shark tank.

Wed- Thurs was a wind storm that pushed in Head High waves.

Sunday was an amazing beach day.

The issue with South Beach like I have said so many times is if you go to the cheap places with no covers, or places with no doors, you are going to get your limbs chopped off.

Thurs and Sat were going off at the high end spots. But then you need Juice, Dough or both.

So was Tues and Wed. (Didn't go out Friday.).

That's cool you liked Wynwood though. Place is dope. I wish I went there more.

Yeah I'm sure the talent at the top shelf places was great. Liv on both Thursday and Saturday I heard was good. Unfortunately I don't have any pull in SoBe, and couldn't get my friends to drop the dough on Sat night.

I will say I was a little surprised there wasn't at least a little talent at the other places I hit on SoBe. There really just isn't much of a bar scene there at all. Guess I'm just too used to my spots in the East Village/LES.

Yeah, very little options for bars in Sobe. I still think even the dingy places like foxhole and Purdy lounge still have better quality than 80% of the US. If you want bars hit up Miami proper. You definitely didn't hit up the top spots, but still, if your not looking to get laid some of the spots you hit up can be fun. The pickle has real good music. I'm not even that into edm, but if I were to choose to listen to edm in my car, it would be the likes of what you'd hear at the pickle. If you go back and want to do something in the design district, check out Bardot. It's a lounge, not real high class but decent quality. It's not as pretentious as the south beach scene but definitely a step up from Purdy lounge and fox hole. The quality can be great on some nights and the girls are friendly.

Yeah, I rank foxhole and Purdy lounge way over a place like Playwright Lounge. I have walked by a million times and never seen girls there. Or Ted's Hideaway.

Foxhole can have fly girls. You have to go late. It is a good place to take a tourist girl you met at a high end spot and show her "real South Beach".

I wouldn't really go there to meet girls, although I have swooped out of there a few times.

I agree. If I was looking for bars, I would go to Brickell or Wynwood/Midtown/Design etc.

South Beach is all Restaurants, Hotel Bars, Lounges and Nightclubs.

I have never been to Electric Pickle. Girls there?

Yeah, no pull? No dough?

You might as well bring out the Yellow Tape to tape off the scene of the slaughter.

This is exactly what I am talking about with South Beach: Only the Apex Predators make kills and eat.

You got a guy like warder, who obviously knows what's up, gets "7's, 8's and 9's" in NYC and then gets dropped with a body punch in the middle of the ring in South Beach.

Standard.

You can be a top player from another city, even a A Grade city, be swooping 30-100 girls a year, come to South Beach and get your throat slit if you don't have the "skillset".

Top Player from another city comes to South Beach gets surrounded and out-classed:

Typical ending of a Top Player when they come to South Beach:

No G, the electric pickle isn't ideal for girls. Not saying there aren't any there, but it's towards the bottom of the list if you're trying to swoop. It's kind of a more underground edm scene. Lots of people who go there take a shit load of x and go for the music. The people I knew who went there hated the mainstream edm they played in the clubs. Lots of hipsters. We were usually over dressed when we'd go. I'd take girls there sometimes after the clubs because they'll stay open a little after most places last call some nights. I had some fun nights there, but I don't think it would really be your scene.

You're totally right too about top players getting crushed in south beach. One of my buddies went out there to visit. Granted he was only there a night, when I came back to town and we were talking about it, he was saying how hard it was to pull and how you had to be super aggressive. This coming from a kid who the first night I hung out with him when I got to Vegas, he took a lesbian home. Kids a true player in Vegas. In south beach, he's just another face in the crowd.

I had to google the Electric Pickle to even see where it is. I had never heard of it. I think the points I posted not too long ago which I called the formula for failure in South Beach are important here. Although Warder definitely did not do everything wrong, I think he did (or didn't do) enough things on the list to make success pretty difficult. A five-day trip, although better than a two day trip, is just not enough. You have the possibility of rain, which makes both daygame and nightgame more difficult, and you always need some time during the beginning of your trip to familiarize yourself with a new city and develop a strategy.

Having some family obligations in the area this week, but will be hitting Zuma, the Dutch and what would you suggest for a third high end dinner or lunch spot?

I consider this a scouting trip for this season. Bank no issue and if you see a middle aged G with Champagne older than the girl ask me for a glass.

Went to south beach last xmas with my ex. Stayed at the Shore Club for 5 days, my ex was from there and took me all over, she grew up on the beach. SLS, Delano, great Cuban food, hung at the pool all day with her skanky plastic Miami girlfriends. Had some great sex, and got a great deal for an ocean facing room at the shore club for $180/night. Went to a lot of locals dive bars around the beach, one across from Chris Nunez's tat studio, had more fun in the dive bars than at the clubs and hotels. Ended up in Kendall for Noche Beuna. Have only been twice, both times at the Shore Club, one for work and one with a GF, no real partying. Have to get back as a single man. Have a new appreciation for the city and the people

IntPlay,

I'll go ahead and thank you now and later I'm sure.

THEg,

Respect.

I've dropped in here over the last year now and again without posting, you and others have provided A+ level info and I would say rarely disagree with your approach. I suspect my physique is far worse, my game in the same zipcode but the 4BR 2.5BA not Estate section and my roll at the tippy top as I've read your posts. And I mean it: respect.

Trust me I get your points. My mode is to lock it down on the way in with the Vegas Handshake if I haven't had someone call the joint that I am rolling in strong with my Heavy Juice. As a member of the Vino Elite Mafia and generally charming guy, it's quite easy to have an introduction made from their London restaurant to their Miami location and so forth.....they never forget me after the first visit.

I tend to roll in with some SA talent....and live off the land one night to stay sharp.

I'll post a grid for your suggestion in a bit.

It's a pretty big chain, but I've never been to any of the locations. If they have so many stores in the Philadelphia area and in South Jersey that are able to survive, it must be pretty good. They have one in the exact area I grew up in and several more in other Jersey Shore towns. You should definitely try it. I'm not big on cold hoagies, but for some reason it's much easier to get a cold hoagie right than get a cheesesteak right.

January, February, or March. Again, a "long weekend" may be too short. As I stated in my "formula for failure in South Beach," staying there for only two, three, or four days can hurt you. A week, ten days, or two weeks would be much better.

Yeah, if it must be a long weekend, just make sure you avoid Memorial Day.

WMC is also a time I lay low.

Spring break kind of blows too.

I know nothing of summer.

Other than that you are A-OK in my book as long as you know your ABC's.

Like Merenguero says, those three months are probably the "peak". However, I loved Sept, Oct and so far Nov.

Play precise. Keep Defenses tight.

Watch for being sliced and diced.

Or South Beach will send you Screaming to The Afterlife.

One thing that annoys me about latin girls is they pay for nothing nor do they offer. I was at baru last weekend and they were giving out free shots as a promotion. The 3 girls I was with (also 2 guys) were annoyed that I wanted them to take the free shots instead of buying shots for them. Ridiculous. One of (the few) positive about american girls is that they will often insist on paying. Latin girls won't even pretend on picking it up.

The 3 girls I was with (also 2 guys) were annoyed that I wanted them to take the free shots instead of buying shots for them. Ridiculous. One of (the few) positive about american girls is that they will often insist on paying. Latin girls won't even pretend on picking it up.

I would say Russian girls are 100 times worse.

I have found that Latin girls want you to pay, however the more you date them they give back as well.

My main girl took me to an $175 lunch last Sunday.

Another girl always brings me the sickest gifts ie truffle oil, sh*t like that.

My old girl used to always pay for sh*t (she was ungodly rich though).

If you deal with good and cool girls, I have found they do plenty, and I always offer to pay. So they will do it on their own volition.

Screening is key.

Merenguero -

Saw this place, thought I would give you the heads up.

Ever been?

Primo Hoagies

http://www.yelp.com/biz/primo-hoagies-miami-beach (I don't put much value in yelp reviews)

Might try this today.

Which one do you think I should get to give the place a good "test"?

You should try the Italian. Make sure to specify that you want oil and not mayonnaise. Mayonnaise doesn't belong anywhere near an Italian hoagie.

For a ten-day trip in early January, should I choose Miami or Playa del Carmen? I'm leaning toward Playa del Carmen. I don't think I can go anywhere before then and since my schedule is always subject to change, it's not even definite that I can leave in early January.
