I did a bit of research last night on the aircons and it seems a big part of the reason they make us sick is because the air coming from the aircon is so much colder than the surrounding air that it fucks you up. A lot of people appear to be having the same problem.

It seems the best way to go about fixing the situation is to now have it turned on quite so cold, and to not have it blowing directly down on you. Also, have it serviced, the entire unit where they take it apart, scrub it down and disinfect it, and clean the filter. I read not to do this yourself as they are a real bitch to take apart and put together if you don't know how. Then go to Foodland and buy a 3m filter, the kind you cut yourself, to put in front of the normal filters. Also check out the outside portion of it and see if it is accumulating water below or around it where mold could be growing.

I had this problem last year as well, but I feel like I got use to it after a while. We did have them cleaned though, so that could help. Fuck, I had a Thai girl stay over last week and the AC fucked her up, so I know that is what it is from.

Just arrived in Bkk on Thursday, for 2 weeks.

In am staying in an apartment on Sukhumvit Soi 65, not too far from Thonglor / Ekkamai.

The name is: Aravinda Living Home. I found it on Agoda.

About 10-15 minutes level walk to the BTS.

Taxi back here from Cowboy (just looking!) last night was 60baht incl tip. ($2)

Is a fairly new place in a quiet residential neighborhood.
I think this place has the right appearance for a local non p4p girl.

The studio/apt is really just a generous size hotel room, with balcony.
Kitchenette includes a fridge and microwave.

Only criticism: The bed is hard as hell. They are supposed to be addressing that for me today.

I booked for two. Assume it is "guest friendly". Have not had the chance to try it yet.

Cost: 750baht per day ($25) On balance, the best deal I could find.

Yeah. I'm OK with a hard bed, but this has a sort of regular corrogated effect like there is spring wires in it. It's what we would call a base that the mattress goes on top of.
A topper pad should fix the problem.

My bed in my accomodation of choice in Bangkok is thankfully not hard. Very comfortable. Seems like a good deal Antipodean, might look into it myself for my final month in BKK. If it's an apartment it should be guest friendly but you never know, a couple serviced apartment places I emailed replied saying no guests. Totally stupid rule, people want an apartment so they can do as they please not so they can have rules imposed on them like hotels do.

The apartment I had in Manilla last week was ok when I bought girls to the room, but a funny thing happened with the last one.

Spicy is a strange place, first time I went on this trip there were no pros or sex tourists there and I got taken home by this nice girl to her condo. Girls aren't usually old, tends to be young girls. I like the fact it's a live band because it makes it a bit more lively, you actually get plenty of people down the front dancing instead of just standing round their tables but when 90% are pros I suppose it doesn't matter as it's just a waste of time most nights. Still when you're in the area and normal bars and clubs are closed it's an option. I'll need to check out some of the after hour places in Ekkamai and Thong Lor to see if the HiSo girls have loosened up a bit by the time they end up there.

That bar was the one at the western end of Soi Cowboy, with pool tables inside. The food was good.
They were trying to please me, but they just could not produce a bottle of beer with the top still on it, when I challenged them.

I think the same thing was happening in the "resto bars" when I was in Davao. One place was serving the local 7% Red Horse beer in half liter bottles for less than you could buy it at the supermarket. They bring the bottle out with a glass and a bucket of ice. You put ice in the glass and add beer. The beer is not cold but at 7%, a bit of ice/water is ok!
Most of these places seem to bring the beer bottles out without tops on.

Anyway, it's not a big deal, just a quirky observation.

More importantly, are we having a meetup this weekend?

This is not normal for them to serve tap beer poured into a bottle. My beers always come out cold in a bottle but it goes warm quickly because of the temperature hence why Thais drink beer with ice. They just take the cap off at the bar before serving it to you, which is normal in most places in the world I've been. I think you're probably mistaken tbh.

Where are you guys typically going out? I have been to Bangkok for about 5 days and I can echo the sentiment that paying for sex is unnecessary but I suppose the only sure thing (i have not done it yet - i feel too dirty haha). I have found that most thai girls actually like foreigners but can also be pretty conservative so a ons with a non-working girl is most certainly not guaranteed. I have brought home a chick 3/5 nights I have been here but only had sex with one of them. Almost always when you meet girls they are trying to position themselves for a longer-term relationship and not casual sex. That is why I agree the key is to go to late night clubs as your chances are much higher (all but one pull have been from after hours spots). I have personally found safe house to be pretty cool.

Overall I think the key to game here is social circles. Thankfully people here seem to be pretty open to meeting new people.
