^^ Pretty much exactly that! I'm in a real love hate relationship with hte fitness industry since I love it enough to consider setting up a side biz as a personal trainer, but damn hate it because there's so many scam artists that milks it with so much impunity.

Protein powders have their use, but with the way they're marketed, so many think that it gives them super gainz and that they're mandatory to use if you're a serious lifter! Personally, I would only use a protein powder if I'm traveling! If I was looking to get swole... cooked beans would be my best friend

The easiest way to eat highly absorbable protein is liquid egg whites, I think. Egg white omelettes have become a staple of my diet.

That being said, I do use protein powder for morning shake, and also post-work out. The main part of my protein comes from food, and so the powder is actually what it's supposed to be: a supplement.

I'm going to try a pre-work out as an experiment (Transparent Nutrition), but unlikely to make it a habit.

^ with pre workout I feel like I can do 1/3 more cardio than without it. Probably partially a mental thing

First time few times I used it I felt like I was coked out but afterwards I got used to it

I bought a NutriNinja for myself about a month ago and now I make two protein smoothies a day. One in the morning before I eat a big breakfast, and one at night with my last meal - sometimes after.

About 1.5 - 2 cups of whole milk (or 1% chocolate milk)
2 Tbsp of all natural Peanut Butter
.5 cups nonfat greek yogurt (plain)
1 medium sized banana
2 scoops of Integrated Supplements CFM Whey Protein Isolate
[Image: image_23684_original_X_450_white.jpg]
(optional) .5 cups old fashioned oats

Shit is delicious, calorie, dense, and loaded with protein.

Also,i like Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey. My favorite is the double rich chocolate. It's a good price, good quality, tastes great protein, and lasts a while. I drink it on its own with water, use it in smoothies (frozen banana, protein, and peanut butter), or chocolate protein cookies!

It's awesome man I have the 900W model and that bad boy seems like it will blend anything. I've had it for over 2 years now and has worked great, blade still sharp as ever, and even grinds up ice cubes and frozen fruit no problem. It's powerful and high speed which makes it really only good for making smoothies basically. I've tried making tomato sauce and salsa in there before but it turns all the veggies into soup with just a 1 second pulse.

When I was at peak fitness 25 years ago, I used to have a protein drink at the gym after every training session, using products made by a company in the UK called Nutrisport, which was very much at the budget end. My opinion is that the law of diminishing returns kicks in very early with supplements, and that you can spend a hell of a lot more on your protein powders and the like for very little gain.

Most of these poweders do not make me feel well. This is the only one I like:

It's just protein. It's not like it's a pre-workout or a steroid or any kind of performance enhancing substance. It's not even creatine. Protein powder is just protein. The reason people eat is because it is a quick and easy way to get more protein into your daily diet without having to eat more. It's just convenient because a scoop of protein powder gives you about the same amount of protein as 4 ounces of chicken but its way cheaper and takes much less time to mix up some powder in a cup than it does to cook up a chicken breast.
