As I said in my post, I don't know the areas at all. I just said Karon Beach or "something like that" because there was no beach game at Patong and I'd like to see one of the places where the nightlife is full of Russians. Patong beach and Bangla road are definitely a must see, but I think 2-3 days is enough. Any better suggestions?

If you have a room for two and register her name (she will need ID) you can, but if you want to bring multiples back or different ones (heh) you will have to pay a "fee" in most places.

Thailand’s southernmost island. Mostly couples and a few mediocre white girls. Skip it for game. Some OK snorkeling and scuba (for Andaman Sea), but far better areas exist in SEA.

INTRODUCTION
Ko Lipe is a small crescent shaped island in the Adang-Rawi archipelago of Satun Province. It’s the smallest of the main islands, but the only one that has significant development.

This is due to the Chao Lair community of sea gypsies who were already settled on Lipe when it became part of the Ko Tarutao Marine National Park. This larger grouping has 52 islands.

LOGISTICS
Lipe is as far south as you can get in Thailand. Satun Province extends a bit further south by land to border Malaysia. If you come from there access is by ferry from Pak Bara.

I took the ferry from Langkawi, MY. About 1hr 15 min from the (less crowded) Telaga Pier. It’s longer to go from Kuah. Telaga is closer to Cenang Beach too. My ferry was all couples and families. Not one single female...

I think the nearest airport is Hat Yai. Phuket isn’t very close. Highspeed ferries could get you here in a day, but I think make lots of stops at Trang and Krabi province’s islands on their way south.

30 DAYS BY “LAND”
I cleared customs and immigration right on Pattaya Beach. I was stamped for 30 days! This conflicts with what is stated online. I was also told I could now make three land crossings in a calendar year?!

A few years ago I came from Laos to Chang Rai (northern most province); I only got 15 days. Furthermore, I wasted one of my two land crossings/year by going to Myanmar for only an hour.

Upon exiting back to Laos the Thai immigration chewed me out like I was an illegal Mexican. To spite the land of smiles I chose to fly out of SEA via Kunming instead of a Thai border city. China has no problem taking my money.

SLIGHTLY OVERDEVELOPED
Anyway, I dragged my suitcase through the sand on Pattaya Beach for only a minute. The Ko Lipe Walking Street has been paved. As have some of the other roads.

Ko Lipe was a backpacker secret until 5-10 years ago. Unforunately its now a bit overdeveloped. Even some Chinese tour groups have discovered it.

SEARCH FOR BARGAIN PRICES
With a little searching I got a fan room bungalow for B700 right off the walking street. Others on my ferry had used Booking and Hostelworld. They paid the same for a dorm x2 because they were couples! Better to ask around.

A massage was B300. Sports Massage 500. My “resort” restaurant was cheapest place to eat. Only 70 for mixed vegetables, chicken, rice.

The Lipe Arena Fitness Club has a decent gym. I didn’t have to get creative for a full body workout. I went early and no one was here to collect my 150 payment. The Palm Resort next to it had fan rooms for 500. Same room with AC was 1200.

NIGHTLIFE SUCKS
Nightlife sucks here. It’s mostly couples. The few single backpacker girls tap out around 6. And to get them you’ve got to smoke and joke all night.

The beaches are as dead as the coral. A few Reggae Bars on Pattaya beach have one or two guys doing fireshow. Terrible for meeting girls.

I walked up and down the beach. Same for walking steet and side alleys. I can count on one hand the times I saw a decent single girl walk by.

I wasn’t in the mood to run after any of them either. Something about the atmosphere here is very game unfriendly. Maybe it’s the insane amount of trannies beconing me at every massage parlor.

DEAD CORAL
I did the 9 stop island hopper for 800. The key stops to make sure are included are the black stone beach (Hin Ngam) and Ro Khoi islet. This trip got me all around the Adang Rawi Archipelago too including Ko Dong/Tong.

I’ve scuba dived in Philippines and Micronesia so to me the Andaman sea is shit. Other well traveled divers warned me about it. It’s well known for dead coral. On a sunny day the water is still clear and azore.

The premiere dive is 8 mile rock and Stonehenge. The tides and moon were off for them. 1500 B for one dive. 2800 for two. Forro Dive seemed the best.

Trikes can take you around the island. If you have bags and stay on sunrise/sunset beach you’ll need them. 50 baht per ride. A water taxi to Adang is 100B but you can negototiate 50 of you bargain.

KO ADANG
I HIGHLY recommend staying at the Adang Resort (2000 AC) or the National Park chalets (1500 fan). Ko Adang is undeveloped and tranquil. It has a good waterfall and cliff viewpoints. I also had a nice snorkel to a deserted beach.

You can camp under the amazing stand of causarina trees for around 300-400/night including the tent rental. The canteen is cheap and good.

MEDIOCRE BARS
Maya Bar is the best bar on Ko Lipe walking street. It’s bugger than it looks and has a sand floor. I saw trannies and pros here. Beware.

Across the street the Progress Restaurant does a decent “all you can eat” seafood buffet for 490. You fill the basket once then can go up again for the buffet sides.

Elephant has a cool boat shaped bar. Though it’s small and smoky. Too noises from live music. The Corner Bar usually has some people. No one is ever at Pooh Bar towards the end of walking street.

There was a beach dance party on sunrise last night but it rained. I didn’t bother. I ran a little game here and gave up.

MEDIOCRE WOMEN
The sunburnt and pudgy backpacking foreigners mostly travel in groups of two or more. You’ll need a wing. I felt it wasn’t worth my effort.

Western girls in SEA are often boring and annoying to talk to. Plus they usually chain smoke.

One hand rolled cigarette after dinner is fine. But sitting all night smoking and drinking in a dive bar? No thanks. It’s not like you’re even hot.

I opened some Chinese sisters my first night. Younger one was hot. Had my dinner with them. Didn’t go anywhere.

Opened some vacationing Thai university girls. God they looked young. Spoke no English. The kinda cute one was a virgin. She messaged me a bunch on line but pointless.

EARLY DEPARTURES
The day trips and scuba leave early around 9am. Ferries also leave early. There’s usually one a day so don’t miss it.

Tomorrow I take the ferry to Ko Tarutao. Although it’s by far the biggest island it’s not as popular yet. There’s a couple waterfalls and interesting political history (had a prison that turned to piracy during WWII).

The annoying thing about Tarutao is you either have to connect back to Lipe or Pak Bara to continue on to other islands. However if there’s enough people it’s possible to avoid the extra trip by a charter or having a regularly scheduled ferry make an extra stop.

DISAPPOINTMENT
I was planning to hit all the Trang Islands, Lanta, Phi Phi, then Phuket. However I’m now thinking I’ll skip them all and go only to Phi Phi.

SUMMARY
Largest of the 52 islands off Satun Province (even bigger than my cock). Namesake of Ko Tarutao Marine National Park. Tranquil and undeveloped compared to Ko Lipe. Paved and deserted jungle roads great for running and biking.

LOGISTICS
Ferry took 50 minutes from Ko Lipe. An hour with the longboat transfer. Watch your bags. I had to physically grab my bags off the boat headed directly to Phi Phi.

The ferry continues to Pak Bara. If you get off in Tarutao you MUST spend a night. Next ferry is following morning. Very few backpackers make this stop.

ACCOMMODATION
Got a chalet near pier in Pantai Malacca for 600B. Dorms 500 why bother? Canteen meal of mixed veggies and chicken was around B100. Should have rented a bike for 250. Road is paved all the way to remote beach, Ao Son. Another branch goes to the old prison.

BIKE OR WALK
Took 3 hours to walk there, plus another 1.5 for the waterfall. You can get a park car/motorbike to run you south for a small fee. Altogether I probably walked over 10 miles. Came back in total darkness. Macaques growling at me. Thankfully Ao Molae had canteen or I would have missed dinner. Kitchen closes 7:30/8.

FEW ATTRACTIONS
Near Ao Son I turned off to hike the small waterfall Lu Du. There is a second waterfall that supposedly has no water, so trail isn’t maintained. Small and unimpressive falls, but deep enough to jump in.

NO PUSSY FOR YOU
Forget about girls. Only one couple got off the ferry with me. Everyone else went on to Pak Bara. I met a few other couples staying here. Some young. Some retirees. All of them the hardy outdoorsy variety. Their women were not attractive.

SUMMARY
Most northerly island in Satun Province (I think). Relatively undeveloped. Takes an hour to walk around to the different beaches and squid camp.

LOGISTICS
After getting to Pak Bara I decided against taking a minivan to Krabi. Caught the 1pm fastboat back out to sea. Koh Bulon Leh is less touristed so you buy a ticket outside the new terminal. B450 plus 50 for a Longtail transfer. Took 30 minutes.

LOST BAGS
Watch your bags. I saw a backpacker get off that morning at Ko Tarutao and panic because his bag wasn’t there. It was likely on its way to Phi Phi. I thought that sucks.

Then I lost my toiletry bag when the Longtail took off at Bulon. I like to buy big sizes of shampoo, soap, mouthwash when I do extended travel. I stick them in one of those cheap plastic totes. Luckily it’s a small island. A few phone calls were made from the nearest resort. My bag was handed to me as I walked through the sea gypsy village.

ACCOMMODATION
The resort on the main beach starts at 1700 for a nonsea view. I left my bags there overnight and went to the Urak Lawoi village were a cement bungalow was only 500. I had veggie dinner with a beer on the beach for under 200.

FEW ATTRACTIONS
It took all of an hour to walk through the village to the two north coves. Then south to the squid fishing camp. Most folks were staying 3-4 days to “get away from it all”. I’d have to be with a model to not get bored. There are some offshore islets you can access by chartering a longboat.

NO PUSSY FOR YOU
Forget about girls. Only two backpacker couples got off the ferry with me. The rest were families.

SUMMARY
Most northerly island in Trang Province. Further offshore than nearby Ko Muk. Figured I’d save the coastal islands for another trip. Rent a car and do them as day trips. Lots of waterfalls around mainland Trang.

I bought my tickets for all the connections before leaving Pakbara. Altogether for Pak Bara > Lebon > Ngai > Lanta it was B2100. About $63.

The speedboat passed through the Trang Islands making stops at Ko Kradan and Ko Muk. The speedboats stops kinda depend on who is coming/going.

ACCOMMODATION
Ko Ngai actually has a pier. I was prepared to walk way up to the north end of the beach to do a tent or dorm for 300. But the resort at the pier cut me a walk-in deal for 1000. Free snorkel and kayak.

The Koh Ngai Resort has its own beach and a pool. It’s also easier because you just wheel bags down the pier. All the other places on main beach require a Longtail tender. The WiFi only works around pool and restaurant.

ACTIVITIES
I took the sea kayak about 1.5km our to the nearest karst islet. Found a line to tie off. Snorkeled all the way around. Current was gentle but definitely not for candy asses. Had to fight a bit to get back in.

It’s a lovely walk all the way up Hat Yai. Beautiful views of Trang Province sea stacks and Krabi Provinces rugged karst coast around Railay.

Behind Thanya Resort a 2km trail lead to a few more small cove beaches and a viewpoint. I did this for sunset.

Unfortunately the cloud cover and orientation meant a poor show. I haven’t seen one Langkawi style sunset yet. Cenang was blazing almost every night.

POOSAY PARADISE LOST
Pretty much all couples. Had something to eat at the north end of the beach. Talked to skinny but ugly female backpacker who was in a tent. Kinda made me feel better about splurging on a fan room.
