What the article was addressing weren't the dirt poor of the Chinese, but rather the middle class ones who just got fed up of the attitude of the women and decided to go to greener pastures. It only cited anecdotal evidence from guys going to SEA to get wives, and didn't describe the guys going to EE. Either way, if per capita incomes keep increasing, then in a decade or so getting a foreign wife could become feasible for even guys closer to the lower end of the income spectrum. At the very least the market for companies organizing marriage tours will increase.

China is arguably having a Golden Age on top of the baby boom right now. All that essentially means is that competition for the women that want them just got higher. There is a dude that loves flossin in his blue Lambo everyday looking at girls on the street near me, with his arm out the window tryin to holla at girls. That never happened before.

I don't live anywhere near there so don't know what you're talking about. Just think it's an interesting phenomena, we will see where there is any tangible impact on the dating market of nearby countries.

What I can tell you is alcoholism, and to a lesser extent, spousal abuse going both ways are rampant in China and parts of SEA. His illusions of Chinese marriage can be dissolved by living in China for 3-6 months.

Tough to say unless there's a breakdown of what socioeconomic status the excessive men are. But my guess is that they're mostly bottom of the barrel men.

Infanticide - where female fetuses are aborted - usually occurs in really backward places. I can't imagine that crew having the money to get onto a plane. They're single, rural, poor, Indian dudes.

Then you got the lower middle class/regular middle class men. Quite a lot of them move to other countries for educational purposes, especially in fields such as engineering, and especially for graduate degrees. You see a lot of them in the US for example - however they also tend to go back to India to find wives once their beta status is sufficiently elevated.

I've heard there are Indian students in EE/Russia. I don't know if that number will increase significantly in the future. On one hand, yes there will be more middle class Indians who could afford to study abroad. On the other hand, the Indian economy - after becoming more capitalistic - has been booming for the past 2 decades. You can see the effect of this on IIT graduates. IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) are the premier universities in the country - many alumni moved to the US in the 1970s-1990s and made it big. In fact, probably half my Indian-American friends have IIT alumni as parents.

But today? I'm seeing quite a lot of them deciding to stay in India as the salary packages are extremely competitive. Since the government decided to open up the economy in the 1990s, a lot of Western companies have set up shop in India. I'd venture to guess that this trend will trickle down to the middle class and in the next few decades, the cost-benefit analysis for going abroad won't be so clear cut as it used to be. A few of my Indian-American friends have actually even moved back, saying life is better in India (at that pay range you can easily afford a maid, a cook, and a driver).

Also, not counting upper middle class/upper class - people are still getting married young. I was in the South of India a year ago and the working class women around age 25 were mostly married. As for upper middle class and above, they still marry, just later, and quite often still in arranged marriages.

If I had to take a guess, I'd actually expect the 30-40 million excess Indian men to move to the cities for work opportunities. Most of them can't speak English. At worst they can only speak their local language, at best they can also speak Hindi - which means menial jobs in the cities. I'd also expect that type to have no game, no class, and unfortunately to rape women. In fact, quite a few of the high-profile rape cases in India have been committed by lower class men.
