Hitler was not a dictator, he was elected by the people.
Hitler was not elected. He was appointed to the position of Reich's chancelor by Reich's president von Hindenburg (on January 30th, 1933).
That was a legal act, at the time. However, he was appointed to this position, not elected by the people.
In the last free democratic election before the Nazis came to power, they achieved a total vote of 33 per cent. (This was in November 1932.)
The Nazis did not rise to power because of their own strength, but because of the permanent disagreement within their (German) enemies' camp (which would have been stronger than the Nazis, if unified).
Nope. Hitler's appointment as Chancellor was symbolic, it wasn't until the Nazi party itself gained power before Hitler could gain power.
The last free democratic election took place in 1933.

Besides political campaigning, the NSDAP used paramilitary violence and spread of anti-communist propaganda on the days preceding the election. On election day, 6 March 1933, the NSDAP increased its result to 43.9% of the vote, gaining the largest number of seats in parliament. However, Hitler's party failed to secure an absolute majority, thus again necessitating a coalition with the DNVP.

And after Hitler was given supreme power,

On 19 August, the merger of the presidency with the chancellorship was approved by a plebiscite with support from 84.6% of the electorate.
A vote was held to validate the decision.

Calling the March 1933 election (and everything thereafter) "free" and "democratic" is a joke.
It's an insult to all anti-Hitler-activists in Germany who already had been killed by the Nazis at this time.
The period after the Reichstagsbrand in late February 1933 was shaped by dayly brutal terror and repression against those who were opposing Hitler.
