Why San Francisco is boring

Interesting article I found while trolling twitter:

http://www.marcustisdale.com/blog/this-i...is-boring/

As I live in the area, he's pretty spot on actually. If SF is the most "exciting" city in US, we've set a shitty low bar.

I had no idea there were so many ridiculous fees, but after reading another article recently on all of the building hoops a developer has to jump through for every new housing project, I totally believe it.

Also, NoisePop looked and sounded free, but then you check it out and it's super pricey… lame.

Dude, this is California in general. Thank the hypocritical liberals for that.

Yeah, but it's "California laws" on steroids in SF. You can't so much as take a shit in that city without red tape and fee's up the ass. Kills pretty much everything and the aspergers syndrome tech crowd moving in are making it worse.

I always felt bad for SF because it was once a truly great city. Between the commies in the city government and the socially retarded tech nerds the place is a wasteland now.

And don't forget the short-haired feminist and rampant in-your-face homosexual behavior on display.

SF is in about as beautiful a setting as a city can be. Great restaurants, great architecture and history, beautiful parks, colorful neighborhoods. But it's a terrible place from a cost/value perspective. I still think everyone needs to visit at least once. A part of will always love SF, there's just something unique about that place that you have to experience.

Still in college. A lot of spoiled girls here want to go to SF after graduation and I always tell them no because California is terrible. Glad to see SF is the asshole of a gay state.

Is there any place that looks like San Fran and has the same type of setting? Minus the garbage that comes with SF?

Cape Town, Tel Aviv, and Beirut are the only places that come to mind. Each of these places including SF have very big drawbacks.

I see myself in a setting like that one day when I go global.

Lisbon, Portugal sounds like the place for you. Cheapest place in W. Europe, same Mediterranean climate, even has hills and cable cars with a red bridge:

Valparaiso, Chile is another option. Med climate, port city, very hilly will Victorian architecture. Very much has a SF vibe. I actually ate lunch at the restaurant perched on that cliff. Lovely town.

@Speakeasy.

I would probably settle in Valparaiso if it's a lot like the bay area. the bay area is done for. It depresses me that the bay area is becoming another has been shitty metropolitan area.

Valparaiso especially, and Porto are the two cities I would also say remind me most of SF. They're both much smaller, though.

Lisbon feels different now, it has an overrun with tourists vibe similar to Barcelona. Beautiful city too and coincidentally the 25 de Abril bridge was built by the same company that did the Bay Bridge (not GG).

And 30 Km west of Lisbon there is Cascais, which is to Portugal what Santa Barbara is to California:

I've never been to San Francisco but Lisbon is one gorgeous and great city and I've read that they share many similarities, so I'm sure San Francisco must be very pretty, but of course, you won't find in Lisbon the ridiculously inflated real estate prices of SF due to its tech companies, the massive gay community, the ultra political correct social warriors, etc. SF also doesn't have the castles, old monuments and places like Sintra, so Lisbon wins for me.

And if you like gambling you can find the largest casino in Europe right there in Estoril, a couple of steps away from Cascais. Casino do Estoril inspired Ian Fleming to write "Casino Royale", the first James Bond novel.

There actually is an authentic castle near the SF Bay. I went there a couple years ago. Beautiful place with excellent cabernets.

But I get your point. [Image: wink.gif]

Why San Francisco is boring

Hey guys,

How's it going? I've been here in the East Bay for about a decade now, not by choice, I assure you. My family and I migrated to the US from the Philippines, but before settling in the Bay Area, we lived a couple of years in Michigan. At first arriving here was a welcome relief from the gray, depressing winters over there.

Beautiful natural sceneries such as Mt. Diablo, the waters by Benecia, San Francisco's Hills were quite refreshing. But slowly I noticed the culture here. Feminism, Elitism and Liberalism just make it harder to breathe every day.

I've taken it upon myself to work hard to build up investments, so that I can go off and play hard elsewhere.

San Sebastián (which is also called Donostia) in Northern Spain is one of the most gorgeous cities I've ever seen in Europe. I thought of the Bay Area in terms of physical beauty. It's in Basque country, close to the Pyrenees Mountains bordering France. The women and the food were quite fine. It's too bad I didn't get to stay as long as I wanted to, my buddies and I were really just passing through as we took a road trip through Europe.

But shit, I'd even take San Diego over SF any day...

Unfortunately I never got there but I've heard from many that San Sebastian is an exceptionally fun place...apparently the most bars per capita in Europe and its beach isn't too shabby either. If I was location independent with a steady income Spain would definitely get considered as a destination...lots of cool cities with great (and cheap) food and drink; that said I haven't quite figured out the optimal game to run on Spanish girls yet.

Part of my family comes from the basque region but I've never been there. I must visit someday.

SF Bay is just ugly chicks at sky high prices. Though the chicks have a MUCH better attitude than DC and the prices aren't that much higher than DC.

Maybe that's not saying much ...

It's sad. Such a beautiful place full of hard working and creative men.

Sad the reviews San Fran gets...

Many hipsters that I've met and liked were generally from San Francisco. I like the whole bohemian, short hair, tattoos, free-spirit types. Regardless of reviews I'll visit there one day for atleast a month. It would suck to have to settle with living in a place like williamsburg just to get my alternative lifestyle "fix".

I feel bad for the new guys into game who have to start in SF. You're basically playing game on expert mode.

Here is the new model if you want to get laid, I don't care about giving it out because it's not easy. If you are above average looking of course none of this matters because you can just run through chicks on tinder/online. Here is what you do for average looking people.
1. Day game, if you are scared to approach women in the day you will not bang high quality girls
2. Night game is done except for Saturdays and mid week but you probably have a career to worry about for the mid-week stuff. In addition, you have to choose the bridge and tunnel girls
3. The bridge and tunnel girls travel in packs of three or higher. Befriend the group get a number and set up a date. You will unlikely get the ONS... you will have minimal chances here because you will be cockblocked by their 40 minute commute back home

** do you have sociopath level abilities to read people if so welcome to the club and choose girls who live closer to Bart ie: the Hayward crowd is better than the marin crowd becuase the sell to get on Bart versus drive their asses and pay for parking is 100x easier!

4. Clothing. You need to dress sharper than a razor blade. If people ask "why are you dressed so nice" or "do you work here?" You have to improve your attention to detail when putting on your outfit. Girls should simply say "you look nice" or "wow you look great" if not your style can still be improved.
5. Status... If you're not getting am discounted drinks and you are waiting in line... You're doing it wrong. It takes minimal effort to lock down the good spots in SF. But again night game is basically a once a week affair unless you can do weekdays.

That's the basic model. I also suggest a once a month trip outside of the city. You will realize your game has actually gotten better when you start operating in a new city.

Finally, for gods sake do not bother hitting on chicks who live in SF and don't live in the marina/north beach/nob hill area we all know she is below your standards don't lie to yourself.

Don't get me wrong DL, San Francisco is a great place to *visit* the tourist attractions are worth it, there is a variety of great food and the place has a lot of historical significance for the modern times, but if you are planning to settle here... you'll have to be ready to deal with the inconvenient nuances of the place.

WestCoast pretty much nails it above. ^

I'd say Florianopolis and (surprisingly) Istanbul have a 'San Francisco' vibe and feel (from a geographical standpoint at least) to me when I visited. Maybe its the big bridges and mountains & hills falling down into the sea I dunno. They are both very different cities and Floripa is pretty small compared to the others. I'd say Barcelona also has a little bit of a San Fran setting too (no bridges really though) and as you go up north on the Costa Brava it gets even more beautiful. That whole part of Spain reminds me a lot of California. Lisbon looks pretty amazing too but never been there.

San Sebastian IS a very beautiful city and the surrounding areas reminded me of the wine country in Napa/Sonoma, minus all the annoying wine snobs of course. But Spain and particularly the Basque country are quite insular, and I don't think they would be the best place for 'gaming' per se. There's a reason even the G-man said it was hard to get one night stands with Spanish women. Of course in Barcelona you'd likely be so busy with foreign tourists it wouldn't matter.

RE Lisbon, well, I keep reading on the forum how bad the ladies are there and how all the good ones leave for London or wherever to find jobs - not sure if it's still true.
