I've got a new idea to get famous, but I need some forum members help. I want to build a human cannon and shoot guys out of it. Bitches love that shit. We'll start in the DR shooting guys across the river. It will be epic. To insure success I'll strap like 200 roman candles on the human cannonball and have them all go off at the same time whilst in the air.
Once you get his humour, this post is so fucking funny I was in tears. It's almost British humour it's so dead pan.

I'm gonna try my hand at acting eventually when I've got a few other things sorted out in my life. I've written a few film scripts too and got some positive feedback from the BBC about one but not enough for them to take it on yet. I learned how to write scripts myself from studying my favourite film scripts, and I therefore have a more "Americanised" format leaving much more to the imagination of the reader/director, while English scripts tend to be very descriptive almost like a book from what I can gather. They said I have to change a hell of a lot for them to reconsider and I've not been arsed with it.
If I were to have any career it would be an actor. I back myself in this as one of my only talents and there's a "niche" in the UK for the kind of style I can easily portray that is already big in America. I'm surprised it's not been done properly here, as some have tried but really not done well.
Mate, this is almost my life story. Will PM you now.

I'm starting to put more effort into my 'fame-game'.
From what I've seen even a bit of local fame brings good results.
For musicians and other performance artists I think it's essential to use social media and your website to increase your reach. By that I don't mean just posting your work online, but actually engaging with people and expressing yourself online in a fun way.
Like others mentioned, the quality of your work isn't even as important as the buzz that you create around yourself.

I think starting a Facebook group or one on that website specifically for groups and scheduling meet ups would work. A black guy has a poetry group on Facebook and regularly hosts meet ups at parks with artsy white girls going. Hand out flyers at hipster bars, stores, art shows, etc.

I developed a bit of fame from partying in my hometown. For example i brought alcohol to the "good kids" Senior Night. That night i proceeded to pass out in my truck and told one of my friends parents to fuck off when they tried to wake me up for school.
I also went to jail for drinking and driving (Would not recommend)
Got drunk at prom and came to walking out of the woods the next morning with a lit cigarette and a beer in my hands.
Ok so, i'm not sure if it was infamy or fame, but it seemed to help get the slutty girls easier. These things seemed to bring fame for the short periods of time that people talk about the party, Also hangovers.
You can also play some kind of sport. That's what my brothers and i did in high school and college. That would only really work for younger people in high school though.
It seems like if they know your name when you meet them then your value is automatically higher, even if ever so slightly.

i think all efforts put into reaching fame should be put into making money.
decent game + money >>> fame
people who are famous and successful today, most of the time IMO, never looked for fame.
"looking for fame" is the exact mentality that will make sure you never get famous.
work hard, fuck harder.

I think some of the guys talking about downsides and the barrier to entry and whatnot may have missed that this thread is about micro-fame and/or local fame. Forgive me if I'm wrong.
Anyways, more applicable to the young guys, but if you get talented at motocross or skateboarding or surfing you can definitely pick up some local fame. Takes hard work and talent though. Same goes for football or basketball or any kind of sports - amateur fighting events in your local area can do it.
The rednecks out there looking to ride some buckle-bunnies could kill it as a local race car driver or bull-rider.
Owning a bar gets you some local fame if it's a popular place. Don't know if it's worth the headache.
I could see some fame game coming from writing books IF the books were extremely controversial (think Tucker Max) and you did in-person book signings and promos.
Fight promoter or club promoter in local area.
The model hack some guys were doing a while back where they did photo shoots and tried to promote women would be killer - wouldn't exactly give you a ton of fame in the area unless you were actually getting results but all the hot women who ended up at the events and parties would see you as famous.
Owning or managing a strip club could yield similar results where you were at least famous to the girls. Actually, a strip club owner where I grew up ran all sorts of commercials and he was a crazy cat who wore a top hat and cape, etc, everywhere he went (hell, before Mystery even hit the scene). He even ran for mayor once and was always in the news for some big controversy. You can bet he was famous far beyond the strip club.
Speaking of which, a publicity stunt like running for mayor could get you there as long as you were controversial enough to have no chance of winning. Would take some further scheming to leverage it into a long-term status though.
I think the motivational speaker bent has a TON of potential....Pretty sure Tony Robbins kills it. I've read a few places that he's been caught cheating a lot of times and I imagine in his seminars he wields a cult-like power over the women. Of course, he's extreme, but I could definitely see women in the audience getting dripped-up on your confidence and personality even in smaller settings.
In a small enough town, being popular or a successful businessman is enough to give you some fame rewards. So you could always downsize.
And I especially like the idea of achieving fame somewhere abroad. I could definitely see this being doable, perhaps even on a big level but definitely easy to swoop up some micro-fame just by meeting local celebrities who want to know foreigners and riding their coat-tails a bit.

frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." - Kipling

Start a business and network your ass off.
At least that's what I've been doing. I started a local modeling agency, and after some time, ditched and converted it to a video production company.

Ah notoriety.
I always got noticed when i entered a party in college. "FRenchie's here!" never understood why people would make a fuss out of it. i'm not that interesting.
I'd take acting classes for fun. Maybe do a show on the side.
Fame is fun.

If I had the $$$ I'd buy a bar/club or well regarded restaurant. Chicks dig that shit.
Take care of those titties for me.

Owning a club sounds pretty tedious, however most of the club owners I've seen are driving Lambos so there HAS to be some money in having a successful one.

Planning on going to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC with some girls, to cover it for my video production company.
This should be a huge opportunity!

Considering how exclusive Fashion Week is for most events, you're already famous....

The best thing to gain instant fame right away - Learn to Dance.
You don't need a whole lot of money. You don't need a fancy car. You don't need the best clothes. You don't need to own the club.
Dancing is the most acceptable way to "show off" in a club. You can't brag about your great job or your fancy car. It will come across as trying to hard to impress. But Dancing triggers an ancient instinct, to dance and perform in front of music - and for women to fuck the best caveman-dancer in the group.
It's something anyone can learn to do. I don't believe in anyone having 2 left feet. It's just practice and more practice. You will learn to dance much faster than learning to play a musical instrument well enough to play in public.
