Vietnamese women are very easy. Same with your typical expat chick with hiked up shorts.

With Vietnamese women, simply invite them to coffee. Then after coffee, bounce around on your motorbike you've rented or snag a MaiLinh or VinaSun. Using the GrabTaxi app will make that pretty easy. Flagging a taxi down is of course an option, but sometimes you get unlucky and it takes awhile to catch a taxi looking for a passenger.

But yeah, coffee, then more dates around the city. There's a movie theater in the Bitexco building that has love seats as an option where there's no arm rest in between you. Get them there and everything else will write itself.

They seem very interested and easy... When I talk to them face to face. The problem is this same interest level is not shown on tinder, and im having trouble getting leads.

I'm sure "Stop being cheap and run a boost" would work, but that doesn't address the issue of the same thirst in person not carrying over on tinder... Having to pay for a boost indicates you are low ranking on the algorithm, which makes no sense considering the attention I get here.

Hmmmmm. Tinder was pretty easy for white expats 2015-2016. I’ve heard tinder has changed their algorithm though. Don’t know any specifics.

Bear in mind that herpes and gonorrhoea are spread by saliva and so condoms are not necessarily a prophylactic.

Bit of a delay writing this up -- was in Hanoi and Cat Ba island during February. This won't be the most exciting, action-packed report like my Medellin, Barcelona and Bangkok reports, but in the interest of having all kinds of data points on the forum I'm doing a write-up anyway.

Since I neglected to do much research before buying my plane tickets, it turned out that I was in Hanoi during the entire week of Tet. Ironically, this is going to sting me again later this month because I booked a ticket to Jakarta only a week and a half before Ramadan!

Lesson: Always research the major holidays of that country before planning a trip.

Definitely would not recommend visiting during Tet unless you already know people there who you would celebrate with. Being on your own, it's going to be pretty boring since a big portion of city residents leave to visit their families in the countryside.

Based on that, I only had 1 decent night out in Hanoi. Walked around in the north-lake bar-street area, and ended up paying a small cover to get in to the 1900 Club since it was quite packed. This is the kind of SEA club where having a table would be better than rolling solo, despite this I attempted to chat up a few girls who came to the main bar, unfortunately I got zero traction. There were TONS of backpackers in the north lake area (and the Old Quarter in general), so foreigner value is basically zero to negative at nightlife venues in this area. It was like somehow they had lashed together TWO king size beds side-by-side into one bed. Would have been great for an orgy, sadly I didn't manage to arrange one

Got a ton of work done there and did some good climbing. Game-wise, there is a pretty decent (but incredibly small) night scene there on the weekends. Imagine a core group of expats who all know each other (so don't make enemies), combined with an ever-rotating group of tourists who come in for a few days at a time. In terms of Vietnamese, I only saw local men participating in the nightlife, no women.

Venue-wise, I went to the bar/"club" above the "Big Man Restaurant", incorrectly labeled on Google as "The Good Bar" ( https://goo.gl/maps/eutzeRtLFbs ). People went pretty hard there and I actually got quite wasted (the drinks were strong, there was weed, etc).

Backing up a bit, that morning I was having breakfast at my hotel (which also has hostel rooms) and randomly struck up a conversation with two cute european backpacker girls (Germany + Netherlands, 6.5 + 7). The 3 of us essentially spent the day together, doing some hikes, having lunch and then all went out that night to the Big Man Club.

Unfortunately I didn't do a great job gaming since I got turned down at the end of the night when I invited the dutch girl to my room, but there's definitely good potential for day gaming tourists and then closing during the night while partying. Of course, being tourists the two of them left the following day :/

Overall it was a good trip, but next time I'm in Vietnam I am definitely checking out Saigon instead of Hanoi.

I see HIV/AIDS posters all over the place. They even have them on the public schools. The gay stuff is usually tied to IMF or World Bank loans. Or closer relations to the US.
