I´m surprised there´s no thread on this:

What do you listen to when you hit the weights?

My main music during my spare time is electro/progressive dance.

But when I workout I have to listen to heavy metal to get me pumped to lift weights.

During a typical session I'll listen to any of the following:

- Disturbed
- Drowning Pool
- Saliva
- Machine Head
- Breaking Benjamin

And throw in a few random songs from Papa Roach like Bloodbrothers - my personal favourite workout song or Pendulum.

I listen to a ton of rap and punk, with metal throw in for good measure:
-Pusha T
-Wu Tang Clan
-Anti-flag
-Tech9
-Rage against the Machine
-The Queers
-Disturbed
-Against me!
-Sam Adams

Great choice.

Mostly I listen to rap or metal, depending on my mood.

For rap, mostly west coast shit or Detroit scene. Snoop, Dre, Proof, etc.

For metal and heavier stuff, lots of Dio, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, shit like that.

Any electronica?

Lesser known band but: Russian Circles.

There harder songs are great for lifting ala Station or Harper Lewis
There chiller songs are great for spacing out during long runs.

If you like drumming, Turncratz is about the best around these days.

Look for Trance Control's songs, they are available to download by torrent, there is a torrent of 42 files, they will blow your mind. They are from late 90's early 2000's they make electronic music of today look amateur and boring.

I have a set playlist that I change every week. Mostly hip-hop and (for lack of a more descriptive term) rock. Lately it's been alot of Chevelle and E-40. One things picked up up while doing sleep research was the idea of pre/post workout songs. Basically listen to the exact same song every time you are about to workout and every time your done. Helps get your body and mind into focus. Works perfectly for me beacause I have a 4 minute walk to/from the gym.

I usually just play an album straight through. Lately it's been these:

Mars Volta - The Bedlam In Goliath
Coheed & Cambria - Good Apollo Volume I.
Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Metallica - Master Of Puppets
Behemoth - Evangelion
Between The Buried & Me - The Great Misdirect

I usually play music that stays relentless throughout.

There's some amazing guitar work on Rust in Peace. That's my favorite Megadeth album.

Definitely. The combo of Dave & Marty was unstoppable. My favorite is probably either Peace Sells, So Far So Good So What, or Cryptic Writings.
