Mike have you seen smaller guys go to town on bigger ones? I remember someone saying they'd be more worried about getting into it with a small guy because you gotta be crazy if you jump into a fight with someone twice your size.

This is incredibly stupid, by the way, and fighting shouldn't be done for any reason but self-defense.

That is the best line on the thread.

Fighting is stupid. (except for self defense)

Mental intelligence and toughness is 10000000000000000000x more valuable then physical toughness.

"The Smart Rule The Strong"

Remember that.

Street fighting is mostly for the uneducated and ignorant. I used to fight a lot. Why? Because I was a misdirected and dysfunctional kid.

Use your mind to create an awesome life. Avoid violence.

It's always better to be smart.

Just how you can tell if a girl wants to bang, I can tell when a guy wants to fight. It's all eye contact, subtle shit.

Killer instinct is tough to describe.

When a girl is ready to fuck, she will get close to you, touch you, and look at you seductively.

When a man wants to fight, you can see his eyes intensify and his body prepare itself for battle. All very subtle micro-body language. An experienced fighter can just feel it in the air.

His instincts kick in. The countless hours of training, sparring, and live combat. The years and decades of brawling.

It's just like anything else in life, When you reach a level of proficiency, your awareness gets deeper, you see and feel things that a beginner can not.

An experienced fighter develops a sort of "6th sense". He knows when its time to attack.

This is in regards to street fighting.

Legitimate boxing and/or mma is a different sport and mind set entirely. It requires more patience and self control.

It always entertains me when guys talk about fighting.

Everyone, right or wrong, trained or untrained, seems to have a definitive opinion on fighting. Every guy I've ever met has something to say on the subject.

The people that seem to talk the loudest or make the most definitive assertions always seem to be the least trained/experienced.

Anytime I'm talking with people about training BJJ/MMA, fighting, etc and some guy says "Oh I've never done any of that. I'm a street fighter." they instantly lose all credibility on the subject to me. I tune out everything they say and only hear Charlie Brown-style womp, womp, womp wommp

That being said, Giovonny's post above is 100% true in my experience. Well-said.

How about that black dude in the video when that security chick ran away and housed that other dude with the gun? I'm sure he trained in BJJ or Krav, maybe he even when to the Phils and studied for a while right? Womp womp womp.

As a kid and a teenager it happened a lot because I didn't have respect for size. Learned it the hard way. As an adult though I'm never in a situation where I need to throw. I do feel like I'm missing out sometimes.
Maybe I'm not assertive or forceful enough to get myself in such a position.
Or maybe I'm analyzing too much.

I don't know about you, but I've heard dozens of guys talk up what they "would do" in a situation like that.

How do you know that guy hasn't trained? It's not like doormen don't value training martial arts.

I'm sure that guy isn't a trained career bouncer. When you need security for a shithole place like that it's usually in the hood and he's just a dude who the owner knows. You don't have much life experience do you?

Look what happened to this mma fighter. Granted he was probably drunk and acting stupid.

From my own experience and personal outlook, guys that know how to fight, truly know how to fight, prefer not to.
I boxed amateurs when I was younger for about six years. I'm not scared of anyone or gettin into a scrap but I'm scared of what I can do. Not trying to sound like a hardass, especially over the internet, but I'm sure some of you can back me up here. Some of you know how capable you are in bjj or whatever and you don't want to go out and have to break someone's arm.
When you're bad, and you know you're bad, you don't need to go out and prove it. It's the insecure guys who have something to prove and are always looking to fight.

Where I grew up it was common knowledge that if you started a fight with an Indian you better be ready to have to kill him. They would never give up. Most of them were skinny.

It's like that fight club quote, "Skinny guys fight till they're burger."

I'm tall and a gym rat.
If I win a fight no one is impressed, if I lose I'm a bitch... I try to avoid fights, theres nothing to gain and I don't like making enemies. Little skinny dude, if he loses no one is surprised, if he wins he's a champion. It's the "approaching without fear of the result" of fighting. He literally has nothing to lose.

I've had a broken nose and a pierced cheek (caught a surprise haymaker while talking and my left canine went through) at the hands a little dudes. Won the broken nose fight, woke up on the ground confused and bloody from piercing.

Little dudes are not to be taken lightly haha

I really had very very little fights in my life. And i never really backed down on an insult or provocation, or set a "negotiating" tone. And I'm not even a big guy. How do i actually stay out of trouble i have no idea. Might have something to do with the fact that I'm a man of quite few words when hanging around, and generally mind my own business and keep out of white knighting.

However, I've seen plenty dudes that are very eager to get into a fight. While many of them were actually quite cool dudes overall, eagerness for fighting kind of screams "low value" to me. I don't see how does a person advance himself by smashing his bones against other guy's bones. Degrading. Even if you defend yourself, It's still degrading, only problem is you have to do it. But i never felt great after 20 people around me witnessed a nasty fight in which i took part. Major inconvenience if you ask me.

Usually I'm pretty laid back and not hot headed, but when I see stuff like this at the 40-50sec mark, I wanna go ballistic. I can't stand seeing coward who run up on someone who's already down and kick them, then proceed to run away.

But as stated above, when people who haven't trained start talking about fighting and what works, womp womp womp. I'm in the same boat.

Nothing I hate more than seeing someone get pummeled while they're already clearly knocked out.

His buddy was in critical condition. I looked for stories to see if he made it out ok but couldn't find any.

Not sure if it was worth starting a new thread. Stumbled across this Vice documentary on bare knuckle boxing. Though it has boxing in the name it seemed more like just fighting.

This past summer some alcoholic I've never met in my life grabbed a cigarette out of my hand, so I sucker punched him and he went down. Not really a fight I suppose.

Last time I got into a fight (2008) the guy threw me down and started kicking me in the head.

Then his friends joined in and kept stomping until they were broken up by a combination of a couple of guys I knew and onlookers. I ended up in the hospital with a fractured skull and focal contusions. I'm lucky to have had no lasting damage.

I've been in fights before and won, I've been in other fights and lost. It's a consequence of growing up in a place where fighting is considered a skill. I disrespect greatly anyone who willingly starts or gets involved in a fight except to break it up or for self-defense, and I am ashamed at who I used to be when I fought with regularity.

And I'm not just saying that because I got my ass kicked once [Image: banana.gif]

That being said, it's important to know how to defend yourself, but just don't use it as an excuse to fight. You never know when the guy you're fighting solo is gonna have his friend smash you in the back of the head with a bottle and put you in a coma. I like the adrenaline as much as anyone else, but is it really worth the risk?

Checking out the clip MidniteSpecial posted...that's one of the dangers of fighting in a chaotic setting. Scary sideline mf's run in with baseball bats.Used to frequent a lot of out of town clubs, outside of some dirty looks and shit talking no real scrapping since HS. Only problem with clubs nowadays is the young cats who will just pop the trunk and come out with heat. Would rather not scrap with my gators on, besides fighting is the least of your worries with these gun toting cowards out here
