I'm surprised that one woman on the show spoke up. Women don't subscribe to an absolute sense of justice or morality, just to group mores. What the herd thinks is the rule of the day.
Misandry in Music Videos
There's something about music videos that makes musicians feel comfortable disclosing how they truly feel. Especially if that means murderous disdain for men who don't behave.
There is the Lady Gaga - Beyonce video featuring the duo fatally poisoning a player. Osborne's attitude is completely in line with this (skip to 7:05, embedding doesn't work with a specific time):
The message: ignore me and disrespect me, and you deserve to die.
And then there's the Rihanna 'Man Down' video, which features Rihanna murdering a man in cold blood. Now, this man raped her. The video got a lot of criticism, especially from family groups, for depicting this revenge murder. If it was simply a woman murdering her rapist, I'd give the video a pass. But this ignores the inherent misandry in the video.
The rape was not completely random. The video features the man dancing with Rihanna at a club, followed by Rihanna's arrogant rejection of him after a few moments of grinding (skip to 3:40):
This isn't a girl emoting "I'm not ready for that yet" or "I want to get to know you more first." Her expression is one of absolute haughtiness; she got her dose of validation from the man, now she's content to leave him. He gets pissed, follows her, and rapes her. I don't condone the rape by any means, but a man would be insane to offer this woman his sympathy, given the circumstances.
If a man flashed wads of Benjamins to a poor thug, and went on to get robbed by the thug, we wouldn't feel much sympathy. The thug still committed a crime, and definitely deserves swift punishment. But we needn't shower sympathy on the victim. Justice after all is not for the victim’s sake nor the defendant’s.
Rihanna's takeaway message: It is my god-given right to toy with men to no end, and society must protect and laud this right.
If Rihanna is successful in her revenge, so be it. But given the circumstances, she hardly deserves our sympathy; the point of the video is receiving this expression of support from society at large. "Spreading awareness."
Of course, the subtlety of points like these is lost any time you start arguing with a feminist. If you disagree in the slightest, you are a violent misogynist.
I don't even watch music videos much, so there's apt to be dozens more videos like these. And these two videos are from three of the biggest women in pop music now, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Beyonce. I'm sure I could find some similar material from say, Katy Perry and Shakira if I knew their music better.
Has anyone ever seen a music video where a guy breaks up with a girl, and then the girl sends over some toughs to totally trash his apartment? They might've beaten him up too. I saw it once, totally forgot who did it, incredibly misandric video. Was by a white female singer I believe.
