Neil,
I love your blog and enjoy reading your posts. However, with all respect due man, if you're 35 and can barely afford your own drinks in Thailand and are sleeping in cheap hostels and where 20 bucks a night is "fucking expensive", then the only sound advice I or anyone can give you is take some time off from travel, make some cash, build a solid foundation for yourself, even building an online biz in the process to make your travelling sustainable. The last thing you want is to be 40, totally broke and having to go home, living with your parents and take on a job flipping burgers or sitting in a call centre. It ain't fun and that 's the kind of stuff that will make a guy want to commit suicide or kill others or some other stupid shit. So be wiser with your time man. Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm not trying to be condescending or arrogant or snobbish.

It only matters if you want to conform to society's view of what a 35 year old or 40 year old man should be doing.

Maybe he has his own goals in mind which he hasn't achieved yet. If he was a 35 year old guy working as a supermarket cashier, I would agree with you. But, he is travelling the world and most importantly he is HAVING FUN while doing it.

I know a lot of 35 year old guys, married for 7 or 8 years, with a couple of kids, living in a house in the suburbs. They spend 2 to 3 hours a day commuting, just so that they can sit locked up in an office cubicle for 8 hours, doing a job that they despise. I know many of them would gladly exchange that life for one on the road, even it means foregoing many of the material comforts they are used to here. What use is a $50K or a $3K flat screen tv when you are just going through the motions without really enjoying your life.

Hopefully his world travels will give him a foundation for a succesful business.

I'd like to add to what Mystik said, location is everything.
Go to Siam Paragon for day game where there are many rich girls. YMG suggested this and I'm thankful that he said that. Met a classy Thai girl from the US who studies here who invited me out to Bed Supperclub. Would have never happened around the Nana area and I see why I haven't gotten shit over the last week.

Too bad its my last night here. I really want to come back and visit Bangkok again and hope to do so next year.

Totally agree with you ManAbout with what you wrote. My comment was as a result of him writing that he could barely pay for his own drinks, hence my concern/suggestion that he should perhaps take time off travelling for a little while to make some cash before going back to travel. One of the worst if not worst thing on the road or travelling is being broke and not being able to do what you want because of no money. You bet that those guys stuck up in a marriagewith the kids, big house in the burb and big fat mortgage would give their left ball to escape from that shit and be free on the road. I know so many of those it's not even funny.

Neil, brother, keep doing what you are doing. I hope you didn't take my comment the wrong way. Hey, if you can make 5k last for 8 months, then right there, you have the material for a very successful book/site/reality show. Go for it brother. [Image: smile.gif]

Cheers.

I've also been to Thailand. It's fun without much money, but it's REALLY fun if you have money.

You broke dudes need to fall back and let some of us fatter wallet guys talk about what things are like otherwise. Then when you get your money up, you know how to maneuver.

I was poor once, when I was a poor black kid growing up in South Queens. At 30 years old, I would be DEPRESSED if I was struggling to rub two quarters together to afford watered down third world beer. What's wrong with you people?

Yeah it really doesn't take much money to live nicely in Thailand. The only real expensive cost is the flight ticket there.

Thanks for some extra motivation. I sometimes don't realize how great my life is at the moment.
At times i have to stand still and take a look around at the beautiful places i am or the fact that i wake up and can do whatever i want. Living cheaply is sometimes frustrating when you have to deny your self some luxury but for example a few days ago i woke up holding a beautiful skinny Peruvian 8 in my arms. I was thinking how lucky i am to do those things. But i also know i owe it all to myself.
In the past, i did my own thing even though lots of people advized me not to do so.
Why buy a house, its old, you never get the money back you invest in it, why work every day for 8 months fixing it ?
I didnt care what they said and made a 40000euro net profit of this apartment years later + plus i had a low morgage for years.

i know i have to totally focus on a new goal not drive myself up the wall after returning home and being broke.

I used to believe this. Hell, I've written posts like this:

How To Pick Up Girls For Under $100 A Month
http://www.rooshv.com/how-to-pick-up-gir...00-a-month

And then realized that my dick couldn't tell the difference when I was getting laid because of my game or because of status/money/looks/etc. I will use every advantage I have to fuck the girls I want. But to pretend I'm poor on purpose so a girl will like me for my personality? Yeah, right.

If you're broke then by all means do your best to make it work. But to say being broke is an advantage because your bangs are more satisfying, well, my king size bed would disagree with that.

Just Wanted to add some Info that wasn't on here thats very crucial-

Best Day Game Venue- Siam Paragon, rich hot girls here. They'll be more likely to speak English.
Place to Avoid Staying- Near Nana BTS, lots of ladyboys and bar whores. Avoid at all Cost.

I suggest that you find a place near the Skytrain or subway for easy and quick transportation. Traffic jams are very common and relying on taxis in the busier roads is going to be slow.

Loads of threads on Thailand here but this seems like a good one for my needs. I want to spend 2-3 weeks on an island where I can purely game women and live a life of luxury for a while. I'm thinking Koh Samui sounds like an ideal spot. It seems Chaweng Beach is where it's at. Can anyone recommend a great hotel near all the action. I'm thinking 20 - 30 euros a night will go a long way in Thailand?

Thailand - short data sheet and impressions

Thailand info dump, Ill try and be concise. Been twice.

general helpful rules:
-Avoid booking lodging in advance. Travel agents and websites will likely mark up rooms 30%. This is a tourist country and unless its new Years Eve or something like that there will ALWAYS be a room available. If you insist on booking in advance, call them on skype, book one night and re-negotiate after you get there.
-Get at least 1 massage every other day. Stick with thai massage.
-If you see a Thai woman smoking a cigarette, she is a prostitute, or, in the very rare occasion, only extremely easy to have sex with.
-If you draw a line from Phuket to koh samui, everything below it is muslim. The scene will change dramatically.
-other members have given good pipelining sites. I used goodthaigirl.com didnt really do a great job of pipelining and the other sites are probably better, but i believe this is the only site where you can send and receive messages without paying. After 1 year they try and make you pay to send messages so i havent used it in about a year and a half.
-Learn to speak thai a little bit. Ask thai people how to say things and write them down in your little notebook, You wont remember shit if you dont write it down. The thai english dictionary is useless because you still wont know how to pronounce things. Its a good way to strike up a convo, and they will appreciate that you are trying to make an effort.
-Food. street food was fine for me, although im a bit more adventurous. I especially love the coffee and donut carts they have in the morning. the coffee is super strong and little donut balls are great (Batong Go). but they are usually gone by 10 or so. They will try to give you instant coffee sing you are a foreigner, make sure you get the "old coffee" for you guys who like coffee. There's plenty of western food around if you dont like thai food, and even if you like spicy food, you have to get a thai person to order for you to make it authentically thai spicy. I usually do thai food for a few days and alternate back to western food for a few days.
-The darker a person's skin, the lower class she will be seen to have by other thai's. If they see you walking around with a tanned stunner, they will say to themselves, "What is he doing with that ugly girl."
-With all the ladyboys and straight up homos, there is just a lot of gayness in the air. If you are really homophobic, you might have a problem in that you cannot really avoid interacting with ladyboys, and gay dudes. There is a ton of androgyny there too.
-make an effort to get some services done there, its cheaper. I got my teeth cleaned both times, $30 vs$108 at home. Simple medical procedures too will probably cost you less than your co pay back here.
BKK
-I got sucked into the whore scene so I am not sure I'll have much helpful info for the players on this site. For the day gamers, Siam paragon is an obvious choice, and there are stunners all day on the BTS. just ride back and forth get on and off and you'll be fine. My information is that most of the middle class women live on the ends of the BTS or a little past. I stayed around Victory Monument. There is a BTS stop & a few malls right there. There's not too much action at night but its probably a 60bht cab ride to the middle of suhkumvit. I stayed in an apartment building called VP tower (rang Nam Soi 3), might be a good option for a monthly apt rental but they gave us a shitty room for day to day stuff. I had a great 2 room 2 bath suite at the Royal Asia on Suhkumvit soi 11 for about 1800 bht. Prices will generally go up after Nov 1 all over the country. Not a big fan of Khao san Road, as i generally like to avoid farang, and keep the company of Thai people. KSR is basically a mini full moon party IMO even though i avoid that like the plague. I did meet some thai people and went out to some original spots but it was a whirlwind and i dont remember where or what anything was. A good place to shore some chicks is at a place called American Bar right in nana soi 4. its actually a little tranquil compared to the surroundings which are a little nasty, but you can probably get one of the bartenders to go home with you. Didn't really do any clubbing so i cant offer too much advice on that.

Koh Samui
This is my favorite spot. Chaweng is the main city but i stayed in Lamai beach both times. Just smaller, walkable, little more quaint but beach is not as good. Got a room at Sea Breeze Bungalows maybe 50 yds from the water for 800bht/day down from 1000. Again, your rates will be determined by how many tourists are there and how crowded it is. If you like clubs, the best ones are in Chaweng. there is a cool bar called Rock Bar which is in the next small town over from lamai, you need to go on moto, or you can walk via the beach. Bar on rocks on the ocean. They will sell you joints for 150bht, and you can get a giant bag of mushrooms for not much more, or a mushroom shake, whatever your fancy. I happened to befriend a nice group of massage girls, which I stayed in touch with and went back to the well for the 2nd time. You should have seen them the 2nd time I showed up as a surprise, they acted like the Obama stimulus plan came to town. Again, there really isnt any secret to gaming chicks. Most of them are at their own various place on the whore scale. A lot of girls come to town just for the tourist season so if you go in early/mid october, you'll catch a lot of the newbies as they are arriving from their farms up north.
There are a lot of older fat men there who look like they have come here to die. That puts anyone under 40 and not obese at a great advantage. Very good shoring opportunities. Me...well...frankly, I got over the mental block of not paying for sex. For me, I'd rather just get it out of the way at the beginning. For those of you who are interested in P4P, I would recommend going with a GFE, and try negotiating a deal with a chick for 3-5 days @ 1500bht/day. If you can find a good one, you will really get into relax mode as you dont have to go out hunting. just go into it know everything out of her mouth is going to be a lie. She will tell you about her sick buffalo, and her cousin that need medicine etc...
You should be able to rent a room, scooter, and woman for about $80/day. Pretty fucking good if you ask me.

Full moon party is on the next island over. The best night to be in samui is on the full moon party because you are the only white person left on the island. Its fantastic. I have no idea why someone would want to go to the full moon party. dont go, stay on samui, you will be rewarded.

Koh Phi Phi
Best beaches I was exposed to in Thailand. Bit too many farang for my taste. Surprisingly not too many prostitutes around from what I could tell. You can basically walk wherever you need to go. Prices are a little bit higher due to no cars and it being a small island. This is the best snorkeling i did on the whole trip too if you like that kind of stuff, definitely do one of those day boat trips. Lot of tourists, and western tourists at that here. The nightlife seemed pretty homogeneous to me.

Ao nang-Hat rai leh
stayed 2 nights en route to Phi Phi. Not too much going on, kind of a rockclimbing mecca, lot of hippie tourists not too many thai chicks around. Thought it was krabi but it wasnt. Decent place to do some diving.

Ko Lanta
Sucks. Everyone is Muslim on the island. I didnt realize this before I went, and i made a B-line out. Not sure if its just me, but i dont really like buying my banana crepe from a chick in a full burka head to toe. I went here for the beaches and they were disappointing with sewage laiden streams usually coming out at one end or the other. Lot of Scandinavian Scuba tourists as it is a big time Scuba/Eco destination. My friend who I was with felt like he was a loser if he was not whoring so I guess you can get some tail but it sounded like a hassle, and I had had enough at that point. used my 2 nights there as my read and relax days. Avoid.

Phuket
stayed Kata beach 4 nights. not too bad. Beach was pretty good. tried to mack the "good girl' who was bartending the sports bar i was going to, didnt work. At this point my buddy felt like a loser if he only banged 1 whore at a time so...well...you know how that goes. Lot of russians here. paid 800bht for a pretty decent room about 8 min walk from the beach. I was worried it was gonna be more expensive. Make sure you take a minibus from the airport its about 45 min ride to any of the beaches, will save you a lot of money over a cab, should be about 180bht for an airport transfer. Prices are generally high here. Big giant row of whore bars along one road. Patong beach is the party spot, didnt make it there.

Chiang Mai
5 solo nights here. stayed inside the city but not where all the bars are for 450bht a night in a nice clean asian style hotel. Fuengfa something it was called. I rented a bicycle, basically you have access to the whole city by bike. Nice and small. There was some flooding downstream so train service to bkk was out, hence the bars were pretty empty at night. I had to do some serious recon to figure out where the THAI people went to go out. Everybody kept pointing me to the gogo bars until about the 10th person i asked. Anyway, think it was called PingPorn Hotspot. Seemed like the kind of scene the ballers on this board might like. Dude in a tuxedo bringing me whiskeys. Actually did some approaches but nothing came of it. Chiang mai is really cheap. You can get an hour massage for 5 bucks. That would cost $80 plus tip $100 in the US. I cant stress this enough, get as many massages as you can take.

I would say 4 or 5 days in BKK and then koh Samui should do you fine. Dont make the mistake of trying to hit too many places. For those of you trying to game chicks, just hit up every bartender service person waitress etc you see and you'll do fine. Make sure you have a phone.

Each to their own. Just got back. Wrote a mini report here concentrating on Phi Phi : )
Obviously Thailand is an amazing country and has a lot to offer other than women... but I am just talking about women and nightlife here...

There is enough info on here already but thought I'd do a quick round up of my 2 weeks in Thailand.
Koa SAmui - Don't bother unless you like brash Aussie girls who have way higher bitch shields than they are worthy. Mental note to self… "never go to Australia".

Krabi - Don't bother for more than few days. No real nightlife to speak of but nice enough to hang out fro a couple of days if catching a flight or doing a cross over to another island.

Phi Phi - Yes go. But if you are European it is the equivalent of going to Ibiza or Magaluf. The beach is like a circus with clubs all along the front full off drunk Swedes dancing around like morons. Terrible for gaming. Most of my efforts were concentrated in the 3 most popular bars. Banana bar - as already mentioned, The Irish bar, and another bar I can't remember the name of towards the beach were all the clubs are. Cant miss it… full of blondes.

The majority of tourists will be Scandinavian here. However don't let this excite you. I was surprisingly disappointed by the quality. I'd say about 1 in 6 were bangable. The rest were sloppy, overweight, unattractive she-beasts. Its easy enough I think to get laid on the island but you will have to work for it. Girls travel in packs and its almost impossible to break the decent ones away. Quality girls always take time so it may not be worth your efforts if you are looking for anything above a 6 of which there is an abundance. Accommodation is a pain in the ass. Try and secure something nice before you arrive for £30-£50 a night.

I spent 7 days in Phi Phi and got 3 lays. 2 were very Average.. but fun. Brit and German. My prize was a 6ft leggy Swedish goddess. It took 4 days. I will always work hard for quality but I missed a lot of other opportunities gaming her. Story of my life.

Phuket - Go. Especially if you liked Bangkok or didn't go there already. Go to Patpong… Its pretty seedy but the main street Bangla road is pretty fun. Hollywoods is where you go to pick up a Thai girl or one of the many go-go bars. There is a club called seduction where you can try your mightiest to work on stuck up EE girls.
Where ever I go in the world I always encounter Russian girls. They are hot but my god they are the snobbiest, stuck up outright rude bunch of people I have ever met. A sick part of me wants to go to Russia just to get an angry fuck out of one them but I don't know how many cold shoulders I could take before somekind self-confidence breakdown. No matter how good-looking you are or how good your game is the majority of Russian girls are NO girls. Atleast they are when they are out of their own country. The worst part is they will eye fuck you like crazy until you go for the approach and get the cold shoulder. The funny thing is their meat head boyfriends look fucking retarded. I don't know whats going on here but avoid those Russian girls. Leaves a nasty taste in my mouth.
In general though it wasn't really the place for me… I have never P4P and shoring doesn't suit me. I think half the fun of game is the thrill of the chase of getting a girl that doesn't have over a 100 notches on her bedpost and who might actually like me for me being me and not just another western guy… which is exactly what you will be. Don't come here if you want to feel special ; ). Having said that the Thai girls are stunningly beautiful with bodies to die for.

Well, at the least the first time that was not my intention previous to going.

2nd time my intentions were not as innocent, although i did put in more effort to approaching regular chicks. I was also accompanied by a far more debaucherous wingman which makes a big difference.

OP's report on Thailand is great.

Just one thing though - there are loads of fat Thai chicks in Bangkok. Way more than I ever saw in China. So if you like Asian BBW then Thailand is the place to go (with Malaysia second).

It's fun seeing guys on family vacations here longing to be single. Marriage isn't to be entered into lightly.

Saw a funny thing the other day - a Chinese guy was with his 12yo daughter and this guy is chatting to a huge breasted ladyboy hooker on Sukhumvit. I guess he's wondering how he can have a nice family vacation AND sleep with a tranny.

I agree. Although in my experience of Bangkok, after having stayed in pretty much the full range of accommodation available at different times, is that how nice the place was made no difference to my results. The only thing that made a difference was location. I guess this is because it's easier to get a girl to go back with you if your place is nearby, and once the girl agrees to go back with you, she has pretty much already decided to fuck you anyway and so a shitty room is hardly going to change her mind.

On a somewhat related note, in the book The Talent Code, the author talks about how most of the centres that produce a lot of greats (he mentions several places such as a football academy in brazil, a tennis training centre in Russia, etc), tend to be quite spartan and almost run down. He thinks that this actually helps, in that when you are training in plush comfortable surroundings, then your mind feels like you have already made it, and can stop you from putting in the effort.

I think there might be something to this. I know myself, that I definitely prefer training in the more basic camps, than the newly built ac gyms that have sprung up around BKK recently. I also know that living in really nice apartments, enjoying the good life too much, and having a girlfriend, tend to make me a bit soft.

Just wanted to point out that Chiang Mai is probably far bigger than you realized - based on your comments about the bicycle. There's over 900,000 people in the entire metro area and it's pretty spread out. I've always said it takes at least a week just to get an inkling of the place, which is unfortunate because most tourists just blaze through then check it off the list. The first week you're kind of sitting around wondering what the big hype is all about, but the longer you stay the more you realize just how big the place is. I love this city.

Anyways, some clubs I recommend checking out for guys going through:

Zoe in Yellow - Yeah, it's a real touristy spot in the center but it's a cool bar with a good crowd of people. Has a disco-type bar for dancing and then a good mellow area with a band - nice for sitting down to have some wine and chilling out. Lots of freelancers here but I've also picked up middle to upper class women. The non-pro girls that go there definitely have a taste for white dick and are likely there for that reason.

Riverside - Again, plenty of white folks here, but I find it's the only venue where locals and foreigners mingle without some type of ulterior motive. One of the best bands in the city and lots of well-off women go here, though they aren't really on a farang hunt or anything. A lot of people show up early and eat but I've personally never been impressed by the food. It gets really packed, which makes it hard to enjoy yourself sometimes, but you can walk directly across the street and through the parking lot to find they have a second venue - the bands alternate halfway through the night. If the other bar is too busy, I go to the smaller one for more breathing room.

Monkey Club - Thai disco/rock and roll bar. The band is very good and popular. Lots of hot uni girls. The food is also fantastic and they've got a nice beer garden set up with a mellower band outside.

Warm-up - Cool Thai uni spot. Discoteque inside. Mellow band outside. This is where the cool Thais hang. Over the years more farang have discovered the place and its gorgeous women but overall it's still a very Thai venue.

JJ Market - A conglomeration of various bars popular with Thai uni students. Mostly sit-down beer garden type bars. A good place for sitting around drinking with friends and if you're creative you can find ways to hit on the girls at other tables. A good ice-breaker is to buy flowers for all the girls at a table. Even if you have your eye on a specific one, just get them all a flower. They'll appreciate it.

Fashion House - A cool, very Thai club that sits down below ground level of Kad Suan Keaw mall - down in the parking garage. Was closed for a while after a customer got shot and may have a new name now.

Fabrique - This is one of the hottest clubs in town. 2-room discoteque that goes until early morning and not too far away from the tourist center. One room has the usual Thai band you find in discoteques. The other is dj with a lot of American music. Also mostly Thais. Very fashion-conscious women go here and foreigners have to pay a cover unless they buy a bottle. Beers are pricey at about 150 or 200 baht per bottle; this is the type of place you want to show up with friends and buy a bottle of whiskey to keep at the table.

Mandalay Club - Lots of gays but a very cool spot. Huge auditorium with live dancers and coyote girls. Two more clubs upstairs that go until early morning.

Discovery
Chiang Mai Bar
These two I think were closed, remodeled, and renamed a couple time while I was living there, so who knows what they are now. But I can virtually guarantee some type of club is there. Also a Thai spot. You can find it if you walk across the street from the Kad Suan Keaw mall, walk up the stairs, and prick your ears for the music.

Mo'C Mo'L - You have to eat at this restaurant in Chiang Mai if you want to catch a glimpse of how moneyed Thais roll. This is my kind of spot here - favorite restaurant in town and one of the two nicest restaurants in the city, I'm told. You won't likely see foreigners there. They've got a mellow band and it's a courtyard setting with koi ponds and fountains. Fancy but to our standards the prices are still extremely reasonable. It's quite a ways out of the center so the tuk tuk bill will be substantial.

Fine Thanks is another nice restaurant, and I think they have a disco inside that opens up at night, though I never made it there at late. The women working there are s.t.u.n.n.i.n.g. Seriously, I think the hottest women I ever saw in Chiang Mai were working at this restaurant. I snagged ones phone number but never turned into anything. I really don't know why I didn't go here more often.

I know a lot more places in town but not sure I ever knew their names. Such a ridiculously huge number of places to drink in Chiang Mai - it boggles the mind.

Just avoid Spicy Club as much as humanly possible (though I must admit I've been quite the human myself at times). Easy shoring but very sleazy and it can be dangerous. Stay away from Lucky Bar too.

Also highly recommended is renting a motorbike and driving out to Mae Ngat Dam, which is about an hour from the city. Once you get there, you buy a ticket fr a seat on one of the longtail boats which will take you 15 or 20 minutes out on the lake. There you'll find floating bamboo rafts with guesthouses. You can get a cheap room for about 150 baht per night or twice as much for something a little nicer. Gets pretty busy on the weekend when locals go out there to get away from town and party. The rafts have restaurants and a couple even have some karaoke. A fun time.

I think you over-estimate the usefulness and power of money Neil. I did the whole budget/backpacker thing a few years ago and was in a similar situation as you... cheap hostel rooms, counting money to buy beers, not able to go to expensive clubs. I got laid pretty regularly too.

* Glad i meet a fellow poor ass backpacker on this forum *

Now I'm doing pretty well financially and traveling much better, and strangely enough, it hasn't really affect my results much at all. I can't say I get laid any more for reasons directly relating to money. A few reasons indirect reasons sure help (nicer clothes, money for cabs, apartments in city center, etc.). But the only difference I notice now is that girls I bang are more apt to want to be my girlfriend than before. They usually want to stick around. Which is either good/bad depending on the girl.

Money's not an aphrodisiac. But it sure as shit can make a girl cling to you.

* I have a huge clinging problem, the girls always want to stay with me all the time, i have to open a topic about that soon *

Neil,
I love your blog and enjoy reading your posts.

* In Asia i stayed in hotels only, but very cheap ones, i only stayed in hostels in very expensive place like Singapore. You can get a room in most South east Asian countries for between 3 and 12 dollar. I'm in South America now and have trouble finding a decent room under 10 dollars in countries like Bolivia and Peru, pisses me off because im running out of money fast. I'll have to resort to couch surfing in Brazil maybe.

When i return home will have spent around 50000 dollars just on traveling , that sounds like a lot but its not much because i have to make it last for 2 years and 8 months while traveling to 40something countries and going out a lot. When i have a girl in poor countries i have to pay for her also ( meals, not for sex or bullshit things), i have to take double rooms/two bed room when i stay with a girl, cost more also.

I will be broke as fuck when i return home, have to live with my parents for a while. I will focus on my website a lot and try to write a book about my adventures

The thing i wrote about not having money for drinks is wrong, i had expensive countries in mind when i wrote that, not Asia. My bad !
Even in "poor" countries like Peru a cocktail costs 5 to 7 dollars, so i dont like to spent that money on girls drinks.

Haha, not about to kill someone any time soon, i will focus on more travel or living cheap in the Philippines. I know the perfect place for that.

All right i'm off to the beach now.

Grtz Neil

I realize that you, Neil, wrote this a while back; however, it is quite interesting if this is really true that you traveled in the neighborhood of 40 countries in 32 months for around $50,000. That seems quite a frugal accomplishment, and it would be interesting to hear some of the details about how such could be accomplished b/c certainly, I would think that the most expensive portion of this would be the transportation costs, and especially, if those transportation costs involve airlines. And, probably, logistically, you can strategically plan some of those airline costs in order to minimize them.

Another interesting aspect that comes through this discussion remains whether spending time and money on these kinds of travels and adventures is a good use of time b/c in some sense there is a trade off in getting adventures while you are young, and then maybe not having had built up any kind of nest or retirement package. Part of the risk that can go either way b/c a person could also squander away his youth in building a nest egg in America or some other western and/or industrial country to realize that whatever company for whom he was working did not pay off and pay out, and the same is true for a government employer, and we see examples of such in the US in which public employees are screwed out of their pensions - and that would get quite irritating to have squandered away youth in employment and when it comes times for retirement and potential travel, there is not enough nest built up. Or on the other hand, a persons health can be totally screwed b/c of various stressful aspects of western living and trying to earn enough to pay the man... and to keep up with all the material wealth aspects.

I am currently toying with wrapping up my American lifestyle for an early retirement, and hopefully I have enough juice left in me and enough of a savings to be able to accomplish something like what Neil has (albeit at an older age).

And, certainly, Thailand and Philippines is part of my planned travels concerning the first places to go and to use those locations as spring boards to potentially other travels - though how far into the future the beginning of that is, is still being worked out.... possibly within a year... and some of this has to do with being able to wrap up certain kinds of strings and possibly storing some material items.. though maybe it would may be better to severe all strings and material items and just travel away until no longer physically able to do so. I am figuring about $3,000 a month - though it looks like Neil got by on about $1600 a month, including bouncing between countries.

Its been covered to death, so just a quick summary. Followed from this thread:

[quote= Hooligan Harry]Spent some time in Phuket, Bangkok, Pattaya and I am now in Koh Samui.

.

. After a while you start to notice the tourists less and less, and when you do look at them you are realising that they

1 - Are almost always carrying extra pounds
2 - dress like shit
3 - are fuckin drunk in the bars and clubs
4 - are miserable cunts who never smile. Thai women say they dont understand why the men smile and the women frown all the time. What do you say to them when they notice it too?

I think the funniest thing though is seeing all the down beaten men who came with girlfriends and wives, of all ages, being led by the balls everywhere. Sad, sad state of affairs and I thank fuck I never gave it up for the house in the burbs and 2.6 kids when I see shit like that. People who have been here may be able to understand where I am coming from, but it becomes more noticeable everyday.

Thai girls are an easy prey if you are white, the whiter you are the most likely you will get laid in the first 24 hours.
