How long have you been running this ad? Facebook is great but it takes time to fine tune.

Who are you targeting?
Are you split testing your Ad Copy?

If you are struggling to get clicks then based on the limited information i have about whatever you're doing.. i'm guessing you are targeting the wrong people.

Have you tried compiling a list of advertising agencies in your area and cold-calling them to see if they have any freelance work available? That's the process that Peter Bowerman recommends in his book, The Well-Fed Writer.

When he first started out, he was making 25 phone calls a day.

I ran it for about 10 days. 10,000 impressions no bites? That's a horrible conversion))

Pictures yes/copy no.

Nope. Well, possibly 2 now.

From this i think your demographic targeting is not on point. You are most likely casting a wide(or narrow) net to an uninterested audience.

Definitely i would recommend you look at locations/interests/age/sex/marriage status...etc. Advertising can't be left up to guesswork. You gotta be precise and scientific.. especially when it comes to facebook

I just sent a self sales letter to 100+ ad agencies pitching freelance work - zero bites so far.

FB, thanks for all the tips. That ad was fairly well dialled in for demographics. I say FB are thieves))

I'm not seeing a good return on time so far, losing faith in this as an earner.

What's a realistic first year financial target for a decent freelance copywriter?

Obviously it all depends on ability/dedication to an extent, but I don't want to spend too long crawling in the dust if the reality is it's winner takes all and the 99% are broke.
