I set my Tinder to Minsk to see what I what I would get... Got some early 20's mixed in with some fatties.

It might be worth checking out for 3-4 night stopover to Ukraine, will consider it on a future trip to Kiev.

Great to hear that it's open now, I'd like to see it if nothing else. Is it really hopeless if you don't know (byelo)russian?

I've talked about Serbia and Russia too, most say since the Serbians know english well, that's far better. But I'd love to check out St. Pete and the white russians along the way.

English level is much lower than moscow (also population is much much lower). If you go to places where local people hang out, pretty much english is non-existent.But remember comptetion is non-existent too.

It is definetely possible to bang without speaking russian. 5 days limit could be challenging but if you do some pipelining, make some research about minsk and get prepared (which venues to visit, how to get around..etc), capturing a BYR flag could be easier. Also during winter it is hard to convince girls to come out. Most of them make only 200$ per month and it is -10/-15 outside.

The links in the OP aren't working anymore.. Anyone know if they still offer this program? I was looking at the Moscow University Russian program for the Summer and it's like $4,300 plus flight plus dorm. $350 for a 4 week course and 50$ for a dorm sounds just peachy to me.

Yeah, courses in Russia were the most expensive by far. I've found the following links, looks like the prices haven't changed:

*The links are in russian, you can use google translate if you don't understand something

I did some googling and it looks like they just changed the name of the web pages slightly: The English link is now https://www.mslu.by/summer-course-of-russian

Omg, you can study for 3 months for $960 --- Un friggin believable

It would be worth it to enrol in this course just to get a 3 month visa.

Works out about $4 an hour, not too bad

I wouldn't pay $960 if I wasn't learning Russian though lol

I made a post in the meetup section with no response so gonna try here...

I'm likely gonna be in Minsk next week from 1st March and would really like to meet up with anyone who is gonna be there to check out some clubs.

If not, can anyone recommend any current nightlife hotspots? So far I have on my list:

Next Club
Dozari Club
Mojito
Black Hall Club
Madison Club
Bazaar Bar
DIY Bar
Bar Tumany
Malt and Hops

Any recent intel on the above places?

Next : is dead. dont even bother
Dozari : there are quite few gold diggers, still possible to find decent hot girls. expensive to party. Sometimes on wednesdays student parties take place . you might try your luck. check relax.by before going . Sex tourists love it there.english level is low/average
Mojito : same with dozari. more like bar version. english level is low/average
Black Hall: now called Black House. For me slighlty better than Dozari. Still loser arabic/turkish tourists are around . also slighlty cheaper. than dozari easy to get in without admission.english level is low/average.
Madison: Mostly student parties. only few gold diggers. Last time i was there , Miss Geo event was taking place. 200-300 students and no comptetion. cheap drinks. quality could be lower. english level is low.
Bazaar: i recommend if you have a date to bring it there. there are hot girls but place itself small people sit on couches in a group. harder to approach.english level is medium
DIY: no idea. Duroy?
Bar Tumani , Malt n Hops, Cherdak: you can do all those 3 at same night. literally 1 minute away from each other. Cherdak is hipster bar, Mal n Hops is one of the elegant and decent pub in minsk. Weekends are fun. Tymani plays house/techno. small but generally crowded place. Worth to give it a try.english level is average in this area

I would also recomment you to check : Bogema and silivki. super easy to approach and many hotties are floating around

Anyone know the details of the free 5 day visa? Is it only permitted when entering through the airport or could you take the train from Kiev? How many times can you use it? As in, can you leave after the 5 days and return a week later?

Only national airport. 5 working days (includes saturdays excludes sundays). they even calculate the time of enter so better not to risk . I know a guy who got penalty as he overstayed for couple of hours. you need to leave country from airport too

check this webpage for more details to find out how many days you can stay in belarus in a year. you should be able to enter country after a week.but near in mind, it is a tricky country. i would not mess with them . So i would give a bit more time before re-entering country but that is me.

I'm planning a roadtrip to EE by car from Finland, and it's too bad that the Visa free travel to Belarus is only allowed through airports... And visa is not the only "roadblock" hindering traveling by car, because you also need to obtain a device for paying for toll roads and load it with credits in advance.

So it's not exactly easy to travel to Belarus by car.

Also I'm pretty sure that Belarus probably has the most dangerous traffic in Europe, based on how the drivers from Belarus behave abroad...

I'm probably going to leave Belarus alone for now. Perhaps in the future they will expand their Visa free travel. No reason not to, really... They could definitely use the money from tourists.

Largely agree with the above. First four places are sex tourist traps (Turks, Arabs) while the others can be good. I avoid places like these like these as the presence of the aforementioned above just lowers the tone and vibe of the place. A couple of cases in point are BHB and Stirlitz. BHB used to be good when I first visited it in 2014 but when I went back there again, the place was overrun with disgusting Gulf Arabs. I fucking hate the cunts. Once when I was in Stirlitz Club, I saw an Arab dude hand over cash to a local bird and they left soon after. I remember one time having lunch at Grunwald with a friend which is just around the corner from Next. Sex Tourist Central. X hits the spot. Holy fuck it was like Baghdad. I ordered pork steak and the smell of it made them uneasy. It was hilarious and sad seeing busted Arab dudes attempting daygame. It usually ended up as something akin to harassment.

When it comes to nightlife, Minsk isn't all that great. The culture revolves around coffee/bars with close knit groups. There are some good spots but you gotta go a looking. Kiev it aint.

Agreed. Minsk is OK for us from EU but sounds like better birds can be caught the further east one heads. I'm hearing and seeing great intel on 2nd tier RU cities like Kazan & Samara. Kiev and Minsk are slowly loosing their appeal with the visa free travel for foreigners, need to hit remote places this summer where the foreigner factor is still high [Image: smile.gif]

@TripleG Not sure about 2nd tier Russian cities but even in Saint Pete the exotic foreigner factor is very high. Also, compared to Minsk there seems to be no Turks or Arabs and most foreigners are immigrants from former soviet republics in central Asia (i.e almost no westerners). Belarus and Ukraine must definitely attract more sex tourists than Russia. Overall though, I don't think Minsk will be very affected by the new visa free rule as there's still not many westerners going there. Even then, girls are rather conservative so a guy visiting for a short time will rarely get access to the top talent.

Minsk, Belarus Data Sheet:

I spent 4 weeks in Minsk last summer, here is my salt to Gopnik's soup.

I am in early 40es, have healthy lifestyle (never married, do sports, do no smoke etc.) and as a result look younger. Russian by origin so I do know Russian language and mentality but I lived most of my life in western Europe and visited FSU only for 3 days since I left from Soviet State. Last year I decided to go to Minsk because I wanted to go back at last, needed to find developer(s) for my project and meet girls.

Dating, flirt and "mini romances" are first priority for me, I find that to be much more exciting then quick f*ck. My target age is also 25+ years.

My friends told me that Minsk would probably be best place for me to go, so off I went.

Where to stay
I rented my 1-room Studio in center of the city near old presidential palace via AirBnB, it was very nice and quiet despite central location. On the first morning I woke up to fresh air and noises of seagulls that where flying above the house! Amazing!

Nothing was wrong with the place and if you go for <2 weeks I would advise to look at AirBnB but if you stay for longer then brush up your Russian skills and find yourself a place using one of the local Minsk real estate sites such as http://www.kvartirant.by/, if you value quiet environment try to keep away from large streets.

Also, best look for places which are rented out by private people and not agencies. In search the checkbox would be names something like that: "собственник / частное лицо".

Price wise you'd paying around 50$ / day for a apartment via AirBnB and ~500$ / Month for a nice apartment with several rooms if you rent directly.

Safety
The place is VERY, VERY safe, remembering my youth in Soviet Union I was a bit weary of gopniks, drunks etc. but I saw almost none. I walked around day and deep night without issues. I did avoid parks and dark areas between buildings at night since locals told me there is a (very low) chance of finding trouble there.

Communication
You can buy SIM cards (MTS), I remember loading it with 40$ worth of rubles and it lasted me entire trip for LTE data and (mostly local) calls.

Money and cost of living
Debit cards (EC / Maestro) are generally accepted by ATMs. You can also pay by them in almost all restaurants. I think same applies to credit cards although I generally do not use them. Please be aware that some supermarkets are very picky about name on card, I have my company name on mine and ended up being interviewed by store security twice. So if this is the case for you then better use cash in large supermarkets.

Food is quite cheap, I would go to local market and come out with ~10kg of excellent quality fruit, vegetables and so on while spending maybe 20$ for all of that.

For restaurants there are places from low level but reasonable Lido (5-10$ / meal) to top notch places such as Bistro Deluxe, Cafe de Paris or Belvedere that will set you back ~150$ for a full dinner for two (wine included).

Drink prices range anywhere from 3$ for a glass of imported wine to 12$ for excellent cocktail in Grand Cafe (The barmen there are amazing at their craft!)

Where I come from all of that is a bargain, I was able to completely forget about money and just do whatever I wanted to.

Moving around
By feet! I am serious, the city is not all that big, you can reach anything in center within 40 min walk and city is very pedestrian friendly. I also walked all the way to Borovaya airfield and other outskirt areas. Uber works nicely as well. Subway is a possibility as well but I hardly used it.

General impressions
Coming in Minsk was very pleasant, airport is modern and clean, staff, including border guards very friendly and polite. The city is incredibly clean, no cigarette butts on sidewalks, buildings are in good shape, lots of green spaces and parks.

People are very friendly, if you smile at them you will often receive smile back, especially from young people.

You do not really feel that people live under dictatorship, many speak openly about their problems. One thing I was surprised to hear is that many who spoke out did not like the "brotherly hug" of Russia and where quite pro western oriented. Excellent.

Other things to do
Go to Borovaya air field and get 15 min combat dogfight flight with a YAK-52 there (~110$). It is quite amazing, pilot pulled out 7.5g on me, I never believed this is possible in a prop aircraft. Pilot also lets you fly and not just "do soft turns", they ask you to do quick aileron rolls etc.

Girls visual
Beauty is in the eyes of beholder, one guys 6 is others 8, I prefer 170+cm tall girls with proportional build, slim frame, cute faces, open smiles and nice skin. True physical beauty is also much easier to spot during daytime when girls are not covered in war paint and wrapped in "f*ck me now" clothes.

Generally I was pleasantly surprised, there are many tall girls, general population is not overweight. Nice blonde to brunette ratio, whatever you like you will find it there.

I saw only 2 daylight 8+ there, one was in the park walking her dog and another on the bus stop near Lido / ZUM. Was able to approach girl in the park and had less success with a bus stop girl.

Attitude
I got a feeling girls in Minsk are quite careful with foreigners, they do suspect you to be a sex tourist as soon as you tell them you came from the west. Some even told me "do not expect local girls to hop in bed with you". I found easy way to fix this: tell them full frontal that I came to the city to find a developer and a wife. This usually made them laugh and broke ice.

Minsk is not a good place for ONS. But it should be fairly easy to build up a small relationship there if you treat them with respect.

All girls like complements but unlike in western society Belarusian girls visibly enjoy them, so make sure you tell them how incredible and awesome they are.

Place is not yet poisoned by influx of capital, luxury stores etc. so there are not so many gold digging bit*es that would try to 'game' you for anything from expensive drinks to goods and further. They do dig cars though and many local men spend all they have to buy a BMW X5 because they think it increases their chances.

During the evening girls tend to cluster, so you should feel confident with breaking into all-girl circles, making them all laugh and quickly indicate clearly which one you are after. If you do your job right other girls will eventually leave you tet-a-tet with your madam.

Competition
There is little to none competition, Turks and Arabs seem to go P4P way and cluster around Crowne Palace hotel.

I saw few foreign people, many are just tourists that came as families, some English dudes in Grand Cafe but all of them seemed to take Tinder route and did not go on active hunt.

Local men are, as girls explained to me "spoiled", they are mostly quite passive and would rarely go on offensive, I only saw few and those where pretty much drunk dudes playing macho routine (did not get them far).

Pipelining
I prepared by building up a pipeline on Mamba and Tinder, out of 10 mamba leads only 2 came to be interesting and tinder resulted in 1 truly interesting match.

But all in all I would not say it was worth it. Mamba also has bad reputation there, I can see why, Minsk Mamba has very sleazy feel to it.

I would only advise to pipeline if you do not know Russian (not many speak English there) or feel insecure for direct approach.

Day game
Walk around the city, go to the Zamak mall, Komarovsky market, GUM / ZUM and do direct approaches, works quite well, almost all girls will talk to you. I had good success in restaurants, single girls are bad bid (they usually wait for someone), 2+ are nice target and unless they are eating or in some serious conversation try to walk up to them smiling and ask if you can join. Some girls told me that such direct approaches in restaurants are uncommon and that alone intrigued them.

Parks are nice place too, walk all the way from Nemiga street to Palace of Independence along the river, hang around great patriotic war museum, go to the beach called 'Komsomolskoye Ozero' that is a nice place to spot girls in bikinis.

I also visited open air festivals: "FSP" that takes place in dreamland aqua park and was a-ok, quite a few pretty girls there. "Rock for beavers" (Yes, this IS the name) on Borovaya field was nice too but I did not feel very well that day and did nothing.

Night game
Area behind 'palace of republic', I believe it is called lower town is full with bars, performance artists etc. I found it to be quite overloaded though, too many people, too much noise. Did not have much success there.

Bar called "Wine cupboard" located at vulica Revaliucyjnaja 30, very nice on weekends, woman to man ratio is about 3:1 and girls do polish themselves to go there! There is also a lot of action on the street just in front of the bar which is great.

Bar "quieter then the mouse", groups of girls often migrate between "Wine cupboard" and this place

Another nice place is around Bully (Хулиган) club, it is alternative place but there are some very cute girls there too. Unfortunately club itself is horribly loud but there is a lot of action on the street.

Night clubs are not my thing, I only once visited Next club: a dump in my eyes. It is located on top of Crowne Palace hotel that is well known to be a p4p concentration. If you into that kind of thing: Hotel bar is your place, masses of girls in slutty clothes there. All for sale.

Conclusion
As Gopnik says: Minks is tough if you are after ONS but it is very nice, safe, clean and welcoming place that features many beautiful and woman open for flirting and romance.

I would visit it again but plan to hit Kiev this summer first.

I would be surprised if the place got swarmed already. Even if, 5 days tourists without some major game skills would not have many chances there, sure they might loiter and spoil the ratio but girls would hardly stick to them.

One more scene that might tell how people and society of Minsk is:

I was walking near sport palace along the river on a sunny Saturday afternoon while many people walked around, a biker drove by fast and lost fat pack of cash from his pocket, it was something like 10$ in total but this is a lot for locals. Someone yelled to him but he drove off.

I stayed on the side and watched. No one touched the cash, people would just walk around it. I eventually picked it up and came to local boat station telling them the story and asking to hold money "just in case dude comes back". The boat station people told me that biker will not come back and that they will not take money because "it is not ours and even holding them is a sin, let someone take it who really needs cash". I eventually washed away my sin doubling the amount by hiding a large note deep in the bundle, took it to the city and gave to old poor lady that was selling flowers from her garden.

I read on several websites that in order to enter Belarus even with 5 days free visa you should have a medical insurance which covers your stay in the country. Do you know if is it possible to buy it directly in the Minsk airport just after landing?

Why don't you just buy it online? I booked mine for the Russian visa within 5 minutes and it only costs about €2 per day.

This Russian insurance group offers a travel insurance which gets you a Russian visa.

I am not sure at all what this insurance covers but it did the job to get me a visa last time.
