Yep, Traktor is right on point. The 5 star hotel will only impress you. The myth of meeting "clueless provincial girls" is long gone. Unless really lucky via day-game you're not gonna run into one. Now if you're visiting a follow-up girl then it's worth it, otherwise go via rental agency for a "managed apartment".

I had been in Minsk 3 times this year and my 4th time will be within 2 weeks and i will stay around 8 days. My observations are

- Girls are shy mainly because of langauge barier.
- Girls are friendly and flirtious
- High end clubs : Dozari , Bhb , Bogema , Rich Cat, Overtime have many hotties but most of them are gold diggers or semi-pro. During weekdays they are some good looking fun girls are visiting these clubs not at the weekend. More english speakers
- Students and avarage looking girls are hanging out (club wise) : Apartment No3,Basement bar,Royal Madison,TNT Rock, Bar 13,Titan,Cherdak,Tymani... Titan and Royal Madison are having student parties sometimes during semeter.(Dozari too). Cherdak and TNT Rock Cafe have more english speakers but small venues.
- There are other good spots with talent such as Grand Cafe,Wine Bar on the opposite of TNT Bar. During the day and evening there are more approachable girls on here.
- ONS is hard.
- Online game is so good especailly if you can speak russian
- April was the best month for me.

Tinder has more english speaking , chilled out and open minded girls . (I have even seen a guy who sends same message for ONS . buying a dinner, sponsoring throughout night and asking for bang for an exchange and getting few positive responses)
Badoo has more options but not many english speakers
Vk is a thougher ground but i managed to meet with 3 girls from vk
Couchsurfing has options too but generally lower quality.

I make the first touch on these then continue on viber, whatsapp to understand whether she could bea good asset or waste of time.

I wrote this datasheet almost two years ago and reading this thread again brings back a lot of cool memories. I've been studying Russian all this time and I'd now describe my level to be lower intermediate (A2/B1 in the European framework). I'll be visiting Russia in 2017 and I'll also try to spend a few days in Minsk if I get the chance (obviously, I'll need a different visa and so on). For anyone staying less than a couple of weeks, I'd advise to focus more on sightseeing, tourism and so on. Less than that and getting laid becomes really hard as ONSs are rare, the exception would be if you've pipelined in advance through tinder, mamba, vk etc. By all means check out the nightlife and chat up the dyevushkas but I wouldn't keep my hopes too high.

Minsk seemed more like a long term thing, where a russian speaking expat would have a great time, specially if you develop a bit of a social circle with the locals (shout out to Traktor and 262 btw for their podcast on Minsk). In terms of the nightlife, according to TripleG, it was on par with Moscow on certain nights but unfortunately I visited during the summer when it was a bit more dead.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. Kiev it most certainly aint. Minsk is perhaps one of the most difficult nuts that I have had to crack. I've lived in the Balkans, been to Kiev, to Russia and had a blast. Belarus is a strange one. On one hand you have perhaps the sweetest and feminine women that cannot be rivaled this side of the Ob but the on the other, you have to navigate some very tricky waters, i.e. social circle, conservatism not to mention the numerous flakes. I have had my ups and downs but puckered up and soldiered on. A lesser man would have given up. OnlyMarryinTajikistan once described Belarus "as a place where I have truly sweated blood". He wasn't wrong.

Living and working here in Minsk has enabled me to explore and experience living in a very unique country that cannot be found anywhere in Europe. It is still closed off but I think the benefits overall outweigh the negatives. Just a word of advice to anyone who plans to come here, enjoy the sights. If you plan on laying some pipe, you need to pipeline as Gopnik said.

I had planned on hitting on Russia with Triple G but family matters have me going back home but I will be back in Belarus on 13th July. After that I'll be hitting the provinces with places like Gomel, Vitebsk and Grodno as my ports of call. Weather has been great here, stifling hot however it has cooled down a bit. Summer in Belarus is truly amazing. Rivers, lakes, golden sunsets and drinking in outdoor terraces. I like a challenge. Bring it on I say.

I have never had trouble.getting girls back to a hotel, as opposed to an apartment.....do it on the premise of..playing pool..having a drink..."you should see the room". can see the benefit of an apartment...but either way do not see it being a roadblock.

The high divorce rates stem from a number of factors that are not always to do with the girls' personalities.

See my post #26 for accommodation advice. As for places to stay, well anywhere within the MKAD that is near to any of the two metro lines would suffice. Ideally, a nice place to stay is near Ploschta Yakuba Kolasa. Plenty of bars and clubs nearby.

Damn I didn't realize Minsk accommodations were so expensive. Aren't their salaries lower than in Ukraine? How does anyone afford a studio apartment for $800 USD / month.

After an extensive Airbnb search the best I could find was a shoe=box studio for $750 US / month in a good local.

I'm paying $650 for big 1 bedroom with a balcony in a nice area of Kiev right now. Something doesn't add up.

I have a belarusian friend living in Minsk and he earns about 400$US a month as a highly trained professional. His rent costs him 150$ a month.

No one said Minsk is cheap for an avg. Joe. What you can do though is find a small apartment downtown for $35/night on airbnb and if you're staying long-term contact the owner directly and negotiate off-site a cash only rate. In addition to a cash rate you can also get a monthly discount. Between these two you should be looking at around a 20% off discount from the airbnb price.

This way you get to pay cash and owner does not have to pay airbnb a commission. Of course, you do loose out on airbnb's insurance and refund policy (in case owner cancels on you or violates rules) but if you are not risk averse it is worth it.

That's what I always do when staying more than a few days, negotiate and pay cash in person, but I'm still not seeing much of a discount. Some people have a place listed for $45/night and when I ask about a monthly rental they quote $1300.

There must be a huge discrepancy between what the locals are paying and what they're charging foreigners on Airbnb, unlike Kiev where what I'm paying making sense more or less. When a highly trained professional is making $400 a month there's just no way the rent can be as high as it seems on Airbnb.

A Quick Summer Update:

I spent 6-7 days in July in Minsk. Surprisingly I enjoyed more than spring . I was thinking Minsk would be empty and not much fun but i met with girls who were in Minsk for their vacation. They study abroad (Poland mostly) and came back to Minsk for summer time. They can speak english much better and they were more open minded and chilled than a standard belarusian girl. I would try to go one more time before summer ends.

I spent most my time in cafes , ponding on river , walking in parks and saw crazy good looking girls all around and they were all receptive.

In terms of nightlife , I went to Bogema and Rich Cat. I would highly recommend to guys who are after 8-10s. Stunning girls were walking around and most of them are ready to meet with a foreigner. 1 beer cost around 6 dollars but i didnt pay any admission fee and it was super much fun inside. Out of 6 nights i slept only 1 night alone. I am looking forward to hit the ground in minsk again.

Can you give us a bit of a more breakdown about your trip? What was the quality of your bangs? game employed(tinder, Badoo, day game)? language skills that you have, night venues you went to etc.
