WARNING: scary scam on dating sites!

Guys,
I just had a nasty experience which could have been totally life altering - for the worst - but thank God it didn't as I did a few things smartly.

So, I've been on Filipino Cupid for about a month, more for fun and curiosity and boredom and pipelining for my next trip than anything. In about a month, I've been bombarded by emails and interests from girls, well over 1200 in total. So many that it would be a full time job just to read them all, let alone answering them all.

This thread is not about the interest and the girls there but a dangerous and potentially life wrecking situation if one is not careful. It's about the scammers there. And i'm not talking about girls asking you for 20-50 bucks for load for their phones or milk for their babies. It's much much much more worst than that.

There are a few web cam girls there, while most of them are "legit" in that they are only selling their shows, there are some very nasty and sharky ones that we all need to be careful about.

A couple of days ago, received an interest from a hot girl, added her up on Skype and finally today after waking up, she caught me on Skype. She started right off the bat by turning the convo into a sexual direction. Being the horny dog that I'm, specially after having just woke up, I went for it and video chat with her. She started right away stripping and showing her body, boobs, pussy, everything. This went on for a few minutes then she turned off her cam. I was expecting her to hit me with a request for money to continue the show.

She asked me for my FB account, which I gave it to her. Soon there after, this is where it went went horribly wrong. While her cam was off, she copied my contacts and threatened me to send them a copy of the cam sex we had just done. She said she'd delete it under one condition and that is to send her 1KUSD via Western Union asap or else she'll spread the video everywhere.

However, the thing that saved my ass is that I gave her my fake FB account, with a fake name and no other info about me such as school/uni I went to or where I work. She did ask me before showing her real end game why I had no info about me there on my FB. I did however, have pics of me there.

I always was under the impression that FB is a waste of time and this is the final straw. I deleted the pics first and then the account. Before deleting it, I posted a status warning the people on my fake account that someone hacked my account and that I was going to delete my account.

What I did right?

Obviously, giving her my fake FB account with no info about me. I also only had about 20 people on that account, most of which are casual acquaintances and girls I met online, save 2 buddies from real life.

I'm tracing this bitch down and once I locate her profile on FC, going to post it here and report her to the FC admin.

Another thing that played for me is that while the video this bitch took of me is of very bad quality where it's hard to see the face.

Now, questions, while I did delete first all the pics with my face on that account, then deleted the entire account, what else can I do to protect myself and ensure this bitch doesn't somehow trace me to my real account and identity? This is where I'm asking the pros in here for guidance.

What other steps can I take now to protect myself so that she doesn't find my real contacts, the ones I do care and definitely do not want them to see this video, even if the quality of the video is very low?

Guys, be very careful about sharing your FB account with girls online. It goes without saying that we MUST never give our real FB account to girls. We MUST also all have a 2nd, if not 3rd account just for girls with NO PERSONAL INFO on it and preferably vague pics of you. And no cam sex with girls as you never know with todays' technology and the fucked up mentality of some of these skanks.

Guys, proceed with extreme caution out there. If dealing with girls from the Philippines, avoid girls from Zamboanga and avoid girls who are web cam girls. They are not only not worth it, but also can be real trouble as outlined in here.

Anyone else has had any similar experience before? What did you do to protect yourself from it?

Don't be shy guys, post it here. This can be life saving info. if it can help just one guy avoid being blackmailed or worst, get his life ruined, then that thread will be a huge success as far as I'm concerned.

WARNING: scary scam on dating sites!

I'm generally paranoid with any business dealings with most Asian countries except for Japan.

Unfortunately it all boils down to risk management.

1. What are the potential repercussions for providing information to a complete stranger?

2. Is this a do or die situation? Can I wait a little while before coming to a decision?

3. Are there any other alternative or secure sources that can provide the same service with less risk?

4. Will my penis explode if I do this?

Something along those lines. I had a friend who was scammed by trying to hook up with a Filipina online. She gave him the whole "I'm broke and I needmoney to support family/trip expenses/etc" The guy let her take advantage of him and he hadn't even met her yet.

This is another reason why I don't use Facebook. It's a premier tool for intelligence gathering and even if you do use Fakebook accounts it can potentially leave some hints about who you are. No one is 100% tight on their anonymity game and the more you make contact with these kinds of people the more easier it is to paint a picture about you. Shit is not worth it.

Google image search your pics and delete those profiles where they are held. If you used linked-in, make sure it's private.

Unfortunately you're in the EU, because I used google's removal service to remove all my information from their searches.

WARNING: scary scam on dating sites!

Damn, that's some really shady business. Glad you escaped relatively unscathed, VP.

I have been advising guys to get off Facebook for years now. This story demonstrates the dangers of having your entire life sitting out there in cyberspace. There's very little upside and a whole lot of downside. Unless you are an internet personality or otherwise trying to promote yourself online the way that Roosh, MikeCF and McQueen are doing, what's the point of having your pictures up online? What do you gain from it? Unless you're Dan Bilzerian you're not impressing anyone with your Facebooks pics anyway. Better off cutting them out entirely and being more mysterious.

This should also go without saying, but guys should not be sending girls nude pics, especially any showing your face. I can't even recommend dick pics or dirty texts at this point, given what we know about how easily smartphones can be compromised by both the government and hackers. This stuff doesn't just disappear. It's out there.

Finally, if you aren't looking for anything long term with a girl and have no interest of integrating her into your social circle, we're at the point where you shouldn't even tell her your real name.

At the very least, if guys choose to ignore this advice they should scrub their Facebook profiles of pics and not use their full names on there. But still I'd strongly advise most guys to abandon it entirely.

That is crazy!!

When I did that last minute run to SEA to get some airline miles, I tried to use some online stuff. Girls were asking for specific spelling of my last name and shit. I just got weirded out and stopped responding.

Be careful. Plenty of vagina, don't get stuck on one especially if she has a creepy vibe.

Random comment here. Also, make sure you lock your doors when you get in the cab and pick a side. Don't sit the middle of the backseat. If you sit in the middle a guy can come through each door and trap you. At least if you are by a door you have a fighting chance to get out of the cab.

WARNING: scary scam on dating sites!

Anytime a girl asks for personal information that can complete your identify (last name, FB, whatever) or immediately goes sexual in a big way, it's a warning sign. This is not normal behavior for a "regular" girl, I don't care what culture she's from.

Anyway, as far as Philippines is concerned, don't even bother pipelining ahead of time unless you're there only a week. You can "pipeline" on day 1 and meet up with girls same day or next day. Or just go to the mall. You know all this VP. [Image: biggrin.gif] Glad it worked out in the end, but just goes to show even experiences guys can get jacked.

el mech would you try and convince her that you actually own the web cam network she's part of and if she doesn't come over to blow you she's fired? [Image: wink.gif] I could see something like that.

WARNING: scary scam on dating sites!

Alright, so I deleted all the pics that were posted on my main FB account on that fake one. Anything else I need to do guys?

Good luck suing her, she's in the boonies in the Philippines. Even the youtube account where the video is supposed to be posted at is listed as private and there is no account info on it. However, I'm convinced she's not alone in this, this type of scam is way over the head of the average Pinay girl. This looks like a well oiled machine with a Foreigner at the top or a Pinoy gringo at the least.

I am not conceded as she got nothing on me. Only thing that worried me is her tracing me through my pics. But deleting the pics was the first thing I did on that fake FB account. Shortly followed by deleting that account altogether. Also just deleted all the pics on my main FB account which were on that fake account.

Now if I was on the rat race in the corporate world and had I been utterly naive to give her my real FB, then yeah I'd be shitting bricks right now and the thought of wiring her 1K to get off would be pretty cheap.

Oh and I can totally see these sharks making great money with this scam. Imagine she catches Jimmy from Zanesville, Ohio, or, Bob, a beta, recently divorced mid 30's-mid 40's who just got raped by her ex wife through the courts and is in search of some love? He'd be toast! These are the kinds of guys these sharks are after!

Yeah she was pretty hot, banging body and pretty face.

Be careful out there guys!

Exactly. The first thing she asked me once she got my FB account is how come I don't have any info on my school/uni or where I work or any info about me? That should have been a big red flag right there, but Jr got the better of me in that moment...

Any girl worth her weight in gold is not going to show you the goods without meeting you in person.

There is no such thing as a free lunch right man?!

I think you'd probably have better luck with girls from OKChina, likely not going to do that on a webcam or their government will pick them up in an unmarked van and put them in cuffs while you wank it. [Image: biggrin.gif]

Haha, Moma! I don't know if that video is supposed to be educational or satirical. Either way, it made me laugh.

VP, I don't know if there's much else you can do. The thing is, the pictures don't just match the same pictures on other sites, there's face recognition software on Google where it may pick up other pictures too. Might be an idea just to disable a few things for a few days.

I don't think she's going to pursue you in all honesty. She'll have chalked you up as someone she can't get cash from and try find someone else. She'll next you. [Image: lol.gif]

This is one of the reasons I don't do any online dating any more. Too much risk of not only meeting someone who looks nothing like their pictures, but also the off chance that you get humiliated by people looking to take the piss.

WARNING: scary scam on dating sites!

So, I kinda doubt she even really has a video of you uploaded and ready to share with all your friends in the first place, let alone that she's diligent enough to track you down off Google image search to try and extort some dough. To top it off, youtube is semi-strict against uploading/sharing anything porn-ish.

They probably run this scam on dozens of guys per day, and all it takes is one to get scared and bite, and they get paid. You've probably already been forgotten. I would cut all communication though.

Even if she does have a video, what are you worried about! At least I hope you didn't do anything you'd have to worry about.

VP:

I'm not fully understanding what exactly she was supposed to "send" to your Facebook friends. Am I missing something?

You said she, alone, did a strip show for you on a webcam. OK. So what? What is there to embarrass you with? She is the one who did the stripping and nudity. According to your account here, you didn't do anything but watch. Or is there more?

You didn't do anything but watch. Right? What is there to blackmail you with here?

I would have said, "Go ahead. Send other people a clip of you taking your clothes off." Who gives a shit?

Or did you do something more here on the camera that you're holding back? Be honest.

Maybe it's just me. I don't give a fuck like that.

Some silly Flip tries to shake me down with some stupid-ass nonsense like this, I'd be like, "What the fuck do I care if you send other people clips of yourself stripping?" Think about it. If you got some random clip of some stranger doing some silly-ass bullshit, you'd send it right to the spam folder.

And you want to know something else? Even if I was doing some crazy ass shit on video, I still wouldn't give a fuck if some chick sent it to other people.

Own it. I'd say, "yeah, that's me. What are you going to do about it?"

That's exactly what I was thinking was implied in VP's description. Accordingly, she must have a video of VP in order to blackmail him.

WARNING: scary scam on dating sites!

As others have said on this thread, a guy has to be very careful. One guy killed himself after being blackmailed and after people on another website ask.fm told him to kill himself.

Daniel Perry suicide: Teenage blackmail victim received death threats on ask.fm

Quote:Quote:

It is believed tragic Daniel Perry, 17, became embroiled in an extortion scam after having online conversations with a person he believed to be a girl of his own age who then demanded money.

But since his death last month it has also been revealed he had been taunted by ask.fm users.

Daniel was urged on the question-and-answer website to take his own life between April and May.

One anonymous tormentor said: “Kill yourself mate,” while another posted: “Please kill yourself.”

Another said: “You need to let a blade meet your throat.”

...

Police have now launched an investigation into the death of Daniel, from Dunfermline, Fife, who died on July 15.

He leapt from the Forth Road Bridge outside Edinburgh.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police are investigating the case of a teenage boy who died after jumping from the Forth Road Bridge last month.”

In the blackmail scam linked to Daniel’s death, con artists trick young men into believing they are having chatroom conversations with a girl.

The “girl” then dupes the victim into stripping off and behaving in a sexual manner in front of their webcam.

The blackmailers then seek out personal details of their prey through Facebook and threaten to release the video to friends and family unless they are paid off.

The scams are most often run by men in Morocco or the Philippines.

It is thought they use stolen footage of pretty American girls and sophisticated computer software to interact with their target.

Child welfare charities have warned they are getting dozens of calls a week from suicidal children as young as 11 being targeted in the scam.
