T-Mac is exactly right. What he wrote is exactly what I was thinking as I read your first post, G. My father was born in Lithuania and I stay up on the news there -- and to a lesser degree, the news in the Baltic countries in general.

The "sex tourist" moniker is applied by the locals to the drunken Stag hordes that descend upon the Baltic nations each summer. I will apply the terms accurately:
The Baltic nations have "sex tourists" (drunken bastards with no game looking to get lucky), but no "sex tourism" (i.e., a legal -- or even a "blind eye" -- sex trade as exists in Amsterdam or Bangkok).

One other issue that muddies the waters regarding terminology is that Russian gangsters visit small villages in EU countries and prey upon ignorant young girls with offers of jobs, only to traffic them as sex slaves. When these girls end up in Western Europe, this also contributes to the mistaken notion that the Baltic nations have sex workers in abundance, when that is not the case. The Baltic nations are simply some of the countries victimized by human traffickers.

This is probably the happiest winter i've ever had, apart from ones spent in the southern hemisphere.

There's a big freeze in Ukraine this week, and temperatures in some places will hit -30c. But I don't care I have a very well heated studio apartment in the main square of my city. The furthest I have to walk anywhere is 15 minutes to the gym. Everything else I need is 5 minutes walk
