Also what rent are you hoping to get in second or third tier?? I paid $100 a month for a two bedroom apartment in Belarus so you won't be getting too far on provincial rents. And realistically who would move to a 2nd tier city in the FSU unless they had a specific reason to do so? Same in Bulgaria, 1000's of Brits etc. bought places out there dirt cheap and were promised rental income but the rental income if they could get it is so low that there is no point renting. Even some capitols are dirt cheap to rent like Budapest where a nice apartment can be had for 250 Euros a month. If you move to the FSU as one of your choices you want to be either renting or if you buy a place, not reliant on rental income in the months you are away.

That's not to say I don't like Endersgame's idea, merely that it would be difficult to make work deep inside the FSU.

Isn't NYC like a oven in the Summer time, I found the heat unbearable.

I agree with an earlier comment about London being the true home of the playboy, Paris use to be the home but has since fallen off over the years. (Rubirosa loved it there). The only downside to London is the weather is always grey, however for cheap you can fly to warm weekend getaways.

Stockholm has a cool vibrant trendy scene, it is small so not sure how long it would take me before I became bored. There is always Goteburg on the west coast.

Re NYC, it gets real hot in late July - August, and the scene totally dies and goes to the Hamptons then. But it's nothing like down South where I grew up - day in day out when it's 99% humidity and 95-101.

Frankly, I'll go on a rant now...I just hooked up with some early 20s Russian....and I think the US is f*cking lame when they start talking about the heat index, esp DC and NYC (and DC is a swamp and worse thank NYC, but nothing compared to the ATL and FLA really at least year round).

Frankly the US sucks so whatever sorry I'm drunk happy to tell you in detail how much it sucks but whatever. F*ck that place. Happy to argue - NYC, Boston, LA, Jacksonville, Atlanta bring it on it SUCKS. Just watched Collingwood beat some shitty Aussie team and my Aussie buddy is ready to crush OZ too - u guys living in the west are living in a f*cking catastrophe.

Edit: man I'm drunk!!!! [Image: smile.gif]

3 home bases would be perfect.

Miami - I live here now and cannot think of a better place to live in the U.S. being a single male other than NYC. I've been down here 3 years and it just keeps getting better, more buildings are going up, even more international women are moving here.

Medellin - I've never been here, although I have enough references to know that it's full of the schmookin big booty latinas that I can't seem to get enough of.

Coastal Brazil - I find Brazilian girls the most attractive of any country and after visiting a couple cities here, I plan to have a house here. I'd like to visit 10 + of their coastal towns before I decide which one to consider a homebase.

Europe - I'd like to have a homebase in Europe also that allows for ease of travel throughout Europe. I'd like somewhat of a bodega/vineyard ranch in Spain and after reading about coastal Spain, that is sounding pretty amazing.

I'm from Montreal and I love the city but if I had to choose somewhere else to live:

Winter: Zurich, love the mountains, lover the alps and it is one of the world capital cities, well the leading banking city, with some rich and beautiful looking girls from a lot of rich countries. The party scene is pretty cool too. You can ski pretty much anywhere in the Alps from Zurich as you're pretty much at the center of the alps, surrrounded by Austrian Alps, Swiss Alps, French Alps and Italian Alps. The swiss are pretty jet-set also.

Summer: Biarritz, I like surf, I speak french and I love Europe. + I would be able to fly anywhere in EUrope pretty easily.

Great combo for ski/surf/jet-set life.

Isn't the way to make this happen to get a close group of say 3 guys. Each has a home in different locations. Say Miami - Moscow- Nice. Then you just move along in order so I move into the Moscow place for 4 months whilst the home I vacated gets taken over by the Miami dude etc. That way you have contacts ready in each location and a social circle to join immediately. You also only have to pay for the upkeep of one home throughout the year and not two or three.

Based on speculation and all the info I gathered on here...

1. NYC - There is no other place in the world that can provide me with both super high end scene and a very edgy/hipster scene. One day i could be with a gorgeous model, next day with a hot hipster who has full body tattoos, next day I'm at fabolous b-day party talking to some mixed chick with an unreal ass. Food is awesome, public transportation, can party 24/7 and can meet people from all over the world. ROAD TRIPS...Boston, Hamptons, Atlantic City, upstate NY...

SECOND PLACE is simply based on research on this site surrounding my personal interests
- PARIS, has both the hipster/edgy scene and high end. I can road trip to south of france, lyons, and many other countries. Food of course is great and lyons is right there. I'm highly attracted to french women and I love their whole indie dance music scene.

- BERLIN, I'd simply be an "underground" dweller always in the most random crazy party and I can travel to different EE countries such as belgrade, bucharest, kiev.

Everywhere else, just wouldn't live up to the amount of options I have in NY. Beach/Water is cool in moderation and I also dislike hot weather. (Love NY winters hahaha)

Distant,

Why do you call it "hipster/edgy"?

What does the "edgy" part refer too?

Geez, Zurich is cool and everything and close to skiing but it's incredibly expensive, shuts down early and isn't exactly the party capital of Europe. I can think of a lot places that would be better IMO. Biarritz is pretty cool though.

I can think of a lot places that would be better IMO (Vienna, southern German cities, southern France to be close to good French skiing, Barcelona). Biarritz is pretty cool though.

Chicago is a great place to be for spring/summer/fall. Winters are okay for me since I'm accustomed to them, but they do get harsh and depressing after a while, so if I could have a winter home, I'd go to San Francisco or Los Angeles for a mild California "winter" warm up.

On the international front:

Winter: Guadalajara, Mexico
Spring: Madrid, Spain
Summer: Devon, England
Fall: Hangzhou, China

Santo Domingo for the incredibly cheap prices and big booty latinas, and Tel Aviv for the amazing nightlife, culture and EE chicks

Im in the process of making this decision now. I bought in Medellin in 2012 and would probably be there full time if the security situation were a little better. Last year I visited Barcelona, Paris, Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest, Bucharest. Im going back to Europe in a few weeks to look at the Balkans, Baltics, Ukraine, and maybe Russia if I can get my visa together.

simple things like getting a haircut, food. maybe i was exaggerating by calling it "incredibly" cheap, but i guess balling it down there on < 5k a month is managable.

Wintertime: probably NYC - I went there a few years ago in February and, to me, it felt magical.

I live in NYC and wintertime it can be the most frustrating place! One week it will snow 10 inches, the next week the weather will warm up, and the following week back to below 0! Too erratic for me haha [Image: dodgy.gif]
