Cabarete, Dominican Republic:
I went during the high season of late December/ early jaunary. Not sure what it is like during other parts of the year.
If you like water sports, Cabarete is a MUST go to spot. Wind sailing and kite surfing are excellent here. The weather conditions for these sports is close to perfect.
Cabarete is a tiny beach town. There is tons of expats and tourists here so if you’re looking to meet lots of Dominican woman this is not the best place to do so. If you want to meet lots of Europeans and North Americans, this is a great place to be.
Tourist Girls- There are lots. Some are with their family, some with friends, some with boyfriends, some solo. The best time to meet them is during the day while they are tanning at the beach. There are tons of them between downtown beach and Kite Surfing beach. Take a kite surf lesson. Let them see you being proactive while they lay out like a sack of potatoes. Some are always looking around. Give one a smile. She might smile back. Your move from here. At night time, it is hit or miss. Depends how horny the girls are who are visiting.
Expat girls- Mostly European; I met some really nice ones while kite surfing. However, they are tough. They work with tons of male expats who are also European. Thus the girl-guy ratio is horrible.
Dominican girls- There are hot ones who work at the bars and restaurants. If you don’t speak Spanish, good luck! They get hit on by different foreigners everyday! One night, I was sitting at a bar and start talking to the bartender. I notice a good looking American guy is also hitting on her. However she was much more interested in me since I can actually speak Spanish. I got her #, he didn’t.. I also fucked a waitress my first night here. An American guy who can speak Spanish? This is DEMONSTRATING HIGHER VALUE at its finest.
If you plan on living here for months, it is a different story to meet girls. This is from a tourist point of view..
Food:
Chino’s- good cheap chinese food; owned and operated by chinese people. Located on the west end of the downtown area.
Gordito’s- good cheap Mexican food; similar to chipotle. You walk in and tell the server what you want; a buritto bowl, burrito, or tacos; owned and operated by americans. Located right next to the Plaza Ocean Dream hotel.
Claro- awesome café. Owned by my girl Sandy from Germany. She is very nice and pretty sexy too. Good sandwiches, eggs, burritos. It is only open from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. though. It is located at the entrance next to casa blanca hotel. (Don't confuse this with the cell phone company)
Pizzeria Restaraunte- Located in the heart of downtown. Good, cheap food. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (I think; I ate here at 5:30 in the morning on a Sunday night and the lady said they don’t close)
Authentic Dominican Food
- Located right next to the police station. It is in a giant Hut kind of building. Food is cheap, good and they give you large portions. I recommend their authentic chicken and rice with beans on the side. You splatter the beans on top of all the rice and mix it in. You will most likely be the only non-dominican here.
Good Cheap Food/ Underground brothel (Shout out to Black Quixote and Elabayarte for finding this place): The food is cheap and good.. Cabarete is not known for pros (Sosua is) . However this place is awesome. The girls are smoking hot; hotter than the ones in Sosua. They just sit at the bar. If you call them over they come over and speak with you. They are not aggressive at all. And since you’re eating food, you can eat your food while talking to a super hot Dominican girl. I was not once pressured to purchase a girl but you can stare/ chat all you want.
Go around 7 p.m. for dinner. Get warmed up for the night by talking to these girls while eating good food. Cheap drinks also.
Located about a 4 minute walk east of downtown. It is on the beach side of the road. The driveway says “Hotel Alegria”. If you’re walking from downtown, when you see “Janet’s Supermarket” that is the driveway you want to go down. The restaurant is kind of a big hut on the right hand side of the driveway.
Go in there and pretend you’re going there for the cheap food. There will probably be some old men in there talking to the girls. There was an American couple sitting next to us who were actually there for the food.
Nightlife:
Pretty mellow nightlife with the exception of New Years Eve. Game is definitely required and you will most likely be gaming Europeans and Americans.
There is bars lined up along the beach in the downtown area. Most of them have NFL and NBA games on which is cool.
[
Ojo- Biggest nightclub- Only place that parties while I was here on Sundays but nothing too crazy. Knowing how to dance Bachate or merengue is a huge advantage here. I believe Thursdays is when they play lots of merengue and bachata music.
Onnos and LAX- the other big night clubs. Play more American Music then Ojo.
Bambu Bar- Full of pros. It’s funny when dumb tourists wander in here and don’t realize there at a hooker bar. I saw families walk in there and look around lol. The quality of girls isn't the greatest. Almost every girl at the underground brothel i mentioned is hotter then every bamboo bar chick. Located between Onnos and LAX.
All in all the nightlife isn’t too crazy here. There is always people out drinking and the majority of people are tourists or expats from Europe or north America.
Very cool, small town. Definitely worth a visit!
Txbeachbum, if you have anything to add on or correct, please do so.
