I have never had a problem, or heard of many problems, in Panama City. I walked through one of the sketchiest neighborhoods in PC during daylight, sticking to the main avenue, and experienced no problems. In fact, I even had a small store owner give me back money when I paid too much by confusing the dollar coins with a smaller denomination.

I have heard of some crime issues at night where the edge of Casco Viejo (the old town) adjoins a sketchy area. The police are everywhere in Casco Viejo, so you really need to wander out of the boundary to get in trouble. Unfortunately, you need to do that if you wish to use the metro (subway).

Funny story. I spoke to an eighty-year-old Panamanian man. He asked how long I was in town and my marital status. When I stated that I was single and in town for ten days, he told me that I should get married while in town. He was serious. He then told me that I should marry a Panamanian, but that a Venezuelan was OK. He was quite adamant, however, that I should stay away from Colombians. Haha. I assume that the issue was loyalty and fidelity.

Thx for pic. Didnt realize they caught some perps. That's not them. I went out solo on a fri night b/c I had been working till midnight and hadn't planned on going out. Ya I didnt keep my eye on drinks, was sharing, etc. One bad clue about the girls was that they were a pair, other sign was that they weren't very talkative (which can also just happen bc they're super young, lots of super young ppl dont have much to say). Other than that, I didn't pick up other bad signs...

I don't feel Medellin is actually that much worse than lots of other places, although of those yall mention, I def do feel safer in. Have some bad stories of Ecuador/Peru from traveling w/ my Colombian girls doe... I was fine the whole time, but my Colombian travel mate and other local Peruvian girls were robbed and almost raped, on several different occasions... In the end, they're just anecdotes, and latin america in general obv isnt as safe as the US, the good hoods at least.

Let's not go overboard here. Just stay out of sketchy neighborhoods and sketchy bars, stay on the main boulevards after dark (or take an Uber), do not get excessively drunk, watch your drinks, and do not hang out with scum bags (male or female) -- and the odds are very much in your favor that you will have a great time without incident. In other words, just take the same precautions in Medellin that you should always take in any other large City.

^^This. When I lived in Medellín, I probably went to Lleras 3 times total. Never found a girl there. It's better in other barrios, and the girls dress up just as hot. In fact, I was staying around the corner from a nursing college. Use your imagination.

You know Gusto isn't a bad place for some guys to start their night. It's a hack for newbies who are still learning how to talk to girls.
