Global Baller hit me with a PM asking about Croatia so i figured I'd share my personals. While scrollin through the forums tho, I noticed this country hasn't really been covered?! That blows my mind in a sense because this place is OUTTA control. I'm African-American, military in Italy (2 yrs now), and we drive out to the capital pretty often. Gotta give ya'll the background 1st:

Back around March of 2010, this country was bananas. The stories alot of cats came back with were unreal; girls approaching them calling them gods, getting stopped for pictures every 10 minutes, buns every night.. I had to check it out. And the first time I went, it was indeed outta control. During the day we hit the malls in Zagreb (the capital), and looking around, you're already outnumbered with about a 3-1 girl/guy ratio. The women are gorgeous & fairly tall; most between 5'7" - 6'0". Don't be surprised if a fine azz 6'3" joint rolls up on you either!! The eye-fuckings we received walking around had us gigglin like school kids smh. We didn't get approached in the mall, but once we began a convo with any random woman, their embarassed smiles were enough to let us know how valuable we were.

Once we hit the clubs that night, MAN. There's a small round lake called Jarun. There are clubs circling all around the lake. We hopped out the taxi 4 deep and it was like the red carpet. Women SCREAMING from the balcony (I'm not fuckin jokin), whistling at us while we lit up black & milds outside. Stepping in the bar/club was like the wild west for a minute. The whole spot watched us for a good 5 minutes; we watched them. Girls whispering, sneaking pictures with their phones, some even bold enough to blow kisses. Once 1 girl approached, her whole group followed. After they came in, the party slowly migrated around us, all 18-22 yr old females . Most of the shit we heard was "you're beautiful.. you are king.. I've never seen a black guy in person.. let's take a picture.." IOIs behind control. That was just for being black.. after we told them we were American it drove them even further over the edge. We tried leaving the 1st spot and was both followed out and "escorted" by random joints trying to look important. 3 outta 4 of us ended up smashing 1st night.

Now in 2011 things are a bit different. Once word got back to the base about Cro, every nig you could fathom started rollin out there. The women still love brothas, but they aren't falling over each other now. They've been exposed. Is it still crackin? ...DEFINITELY. Went out this past weekend (Aug 12-14) smashed buns every night.

Check this out; my boy smashed one joint at HER crib Friday.. we went to the club with a group of other joints Saturday and ol' girl showed up a bit upset. She saw me and wanted to get at me. I dissed her for the one I was already with. Sunday rolls around and my boy invites her over to our hotel. She shows up round 7pm ready to pick him up & take him to her crib. She sees me again and sparks convo in the lobby while my boy gets in her car. She told me she wanted me instead of him, I invited her upstairs and SHE CAME. Railed it while my boy cracked up laughin with everyone downstairs (glad he wasn't mad lol). She's driving to Italy in a couple weeks to visit both of us; says she wants us at the same time smh. Croatia smh... we'll be there this weekend lol.

Good report. I like to see these-they counterbalance all of the talk I hear of colorism in other parts of the world (Peru, Brazil, Thailand, Russia, etc) well. It is nice to see in a description of an area something different (and, as a black guy, a little less hostile) once in a while.

I suppose we have another country to add to this thread. Would love to hear more info/stories/anecdotes if you feel so inclined.

Back to Croatia. I have a fine-ass Croatian chick on MySpace, and she wanted me to drop down on Split & Hvar Island with her and her homies during last summer. She was planning to rent a boat and party on it ever nite. Unfortunately, I did not make it to Croatia.

aha thats exactly what most of the white guys are doin. White guys will blend in until the women find out you're American, so all my friends have to do is open their mouths.

Everyone should check out Pag island. There's a city called Novalja, and a beach called Zrce.. HUGE summer spot on that beach (youtube Zrce beach). MAN.. ya'll missin out I swear lol

Great report Nyce1. You get +1 from me. You have no idea how hard I've been digging to find out if Croatia was still good for Americans. It's now on my list. All the trip reports I had to this point was from the 90's. Did you run into any cockblocking? I know Bosnians are bad for that. Heard Serbia was the same. I'm white guy, but never blend in due to proper wardrobe adjustment.

Off topic- How is swooping in Italy? I've heard a million stories of cats stationed in Germany, but never the Italian Peninsula. Again, thanks.

Just got back from a 10 day Jaunt from the Croatian Coast...Will be splitting up the report into two parts....Vodice 1st which has a more Croatian Vibe and then Hvar second which is more touristy and expensive.

Rolled with two friends from High School (Both White) to the Croatian Summer Hot Spots of Hvar and Vodice for a 10 day trip in late July. Vodice Is where most Croatians from Zagreb go during the summer turning this sleepy town of 3,000 into a city packed with over 200K to visit between July 1st to the end of August.

Initial Observations of the Women:

Most Girls were easily all on the 8-10 scale, straight up stunners with flawless tan to light complexions and very tall & sexy. Mostly Brunettes but you have your blondes as well like this one I was kicking it with my last two days.

Croatian Girls don't drink that much at all the clubs there compared to their american, aussie & british counterparts...you will never see anyone getting carried out of the club or puking or doing too much...very classy sipping, dancing and having a good time.

I can tell they are semi cautious about who they are hanging, talking with since all of Zagreb is down there for the summer and cliques and people know each other but once you get in there and penetrate that.

I feel like must of the girls and especially the top notch quality ones take more time to crack especially in a smaller setting like Vodice where everyone from their social circle is there.

I have tons of offers from girls wanting me to come visit Zagreb in September which is supposedly the best time to be there...everyone is back from the beach and continuing to party but you have a larger pool and you can blend in the city a bit more. Nyce is spot on with his observations...I don't think being White is a disadvantage as my boy was getting play out there and banged away but being Black with definitely get you noticed because you just stand out...I never felt so much like a celebrity in my life besides being in Macedonia.

Girls were extremely tall and with heels most were over 6 feet tall
Tons of beauties rocking bikinis and heels just strolling along the beach front blvd....AMAZING.

In my opinion I think It would be good to have some decent height to step to many of them because they were tall. I'm 6'0 even and my wings were 6'2 and 5'10 and did well.

- Girls were very approachable and spoke good to decent english
- Most rolled in clicks of at least two but most of the time 3-4
- It will be hard to get them separated for the late night bang unless you have a solid wing man or two (In my case my wingmen were air tight!)
- Many of the chicks had dudes with them at the after beach party bank rolling all the fun
- Straight meathead mafia looking guys with tight shorts on and fanny packs...Im not kidding lol
- Some of the girls come off as materialistic and I was told that they are both like any culture you are going to see a mix of it. All the girls I approached were cool and not stuck up.

I was getting countless attention & make-outs in the clubs & approached chicks every night and was the only brotha in the spot which helped out big time but they were very curious on why I was there (I'm not military just a cat who loves to travel) and how I found out about the place since the younger scene (18-30) is filled with people from Zagreb...this is the place to be for them during the summer so take advantage.

- No hip hop being played so that kind of sucked but i just rolled with the flow and adapted to the music. I heard Zagreb, Split and Zadar are the only places where Hip-Hop is played some nights at clubs. On the coast it's straight house music so adjust accordingly.

Money - Vodice was much cheaper than Hvar about half way cheaper...mixed drinks cost about 15-35 in the club with beer costing 15-25 kuna

1 Kuna = 5 USD
1 Kuna = 7 EURO

Accomodations:
Stayed at the Hotel Dalmatian was 41 Euro per night with Breakfast and Dinner included a very nice deal and its located on the coast. Free Wifi in the lobby and in your room as close enough to get it. the location as cool and it has a nice beachfront bar right in front where you can pick chicks off but be careful because their dudes might be right behind them.

Now when it came to the rooms itself...meeehh. room was tiny and so was the bathroom it was clean but i guess for 41 euros with all the extras included its not a bad deal. But the only sitting area was the bedroom and im just used to more plush accomodations to get comfortable, relax and handle my business and cook, buy groceries etc. The place is too small to pre-game with the fellas and invite chicks over unless its strictly to bang them.

Day Game -
Hit the beach around 12pm to 5pm then hit the after beach parties @ Hookah Bar or Blue Bitch Bar and other cool restaurants and lounges along the seaside if you want to take it easy and bring in the night slow...You want to show up at the after beach parties from 5pm-8pm.

Tons of honies at the beach its literally packed with people, try to bring some good drinks and food for the day and set up a cool vibe and maybe some games so you can have an approachable area where girls can easilysee you. I brought my hookah/shisha and girls were smoking with me and it was automatic attention but next time i will start earlier i didnt arrive to the beach till around 3pm daily since i was partying all night.

Early Evening Game - Tons of fly restaurants and bars along the seaside blvd and people hanging out. After the beach party grab some food at one of those spots for a nice evening. You can drink publicly as well and we did that every night near the main square and approaching and talking to honeys if we ate at the hotel.

Night Game - Hit up Makina around 11pm but make a reservation to grab bottle service before hand...It gets crazy packed in there and its worth it with smirnff running around 100 USD for a huge bottle. The a la carte drinks and very weak pours so splitting a bottle with three friends was a no brainer. You have to buy your own mixers.

I met a beautiful Czech girl about 6 feet tall crystal blue eyes and a sultry tan from Brno the first time i stepped into the place...gave her a little compliment and then went for the kiss and it worked like a charm...her english was shaky but enough for me to number close and handle business later.

All nightclubs and lounges are cash only so make sure to have your money right and roll with a big bankroll for the evening time.

All larger restaurants accept credit cards with the smaller fast food type places being cash only.

A few slovenians, czech & slovakian girls mixed into vodice as well but it was majority croatian by far.

Music Being Played: All Dance, House Music: Mr. Sex appeal, can i get u wet, neyo songs, etc.

Hip Hop Night is at Hacienda on Tuesday...Didn't get a chance to make it.

In closing:

I would say to most brothas if you really want to feel like a celebrity and at least have chicks open to you by being exotic then Croatia & The Balkans hands downs is where you want to be.

Literally when you walk down the street you will be getting eye fucked everywhere...It reminded me of my Macedonian experience but Croatia is much nicer a bit more expensive but the Croatian Coast during the summertime is where It's at. I only got a chance to spend 5 days in Vodice and GOT IT IN...Next time I would spend at least two weeks in a fly apartment to really set it off.

What are the best night spots? Best place for daygame?

What times of year should you avoid going?


Although this isn't related to Croatia, would you mind dropping a data sheet on Italy? I ran through there several years back but was only spending like 2 days per city and had no chance to get into the local scene. At the time I was a 9-5 worker and only had a week and a half off. I wasn't there long but fell in love with the country and want to head back.

InternationalSwagger hit most of your questions dead on; I'll keep it brief:

Other cities - Rijeka, Rovinj (summer), Zadar, Split & Novalja.

- 95% speak perfect English
- day game, hit the malls n Zagreb. There's 3--4 of em lol can't go wrong.
- night time in Zagreb, you want to simply go to Lake jarun. NOTHING but clubs along the lake.. Gallery, lake city, mansion, Aquarius..
- the guys are chill, they get a kick outta watching us steal their women lol. If there are haters, they've never tried much other than shit-talk.. Very rare tho.
- avoid Zagreb in the summer. Croatians head to the coastline for the summer. Rovinj, Novalja are my top picks to go then. Once fall comes, the city is loaded with potential.

As far as Italy, I'll write one up, but it's NOTHING to brag about.

@Speakeasy...No Skinheads or Hooligans anywhere so nothing to worry about on that front... the Croatian and Macedonian dudes I met are really cool and actually when I was in Skopje at the major hip-hop venues which are HUGE there it was about 75% Women to 30& men and to be honest I didn't even pay attention to the men because the honies were EVERYWHERE and I was dancing at tables with them being invited over while they sang, drank and danced the night away. Nyce is right...most of the dudes have very little swagger but they were all cool and not cock blocking whatsoever.

The larger secondary cities are Zadar and Split which are launching pad cities for the outer islands where people party at during the summer...The further south you go the more tan the babes become...I met some stunners from Zagreb and Split and I intend to return in the Fall to take advantage of the good connections I made.

Keep in mind that Croatia is a CASH ONLY Society when it comes to going out so leave those CC at home and roll with a tight money clip.

@Nyce - I have heard that Lake is poppin and the ladies I met from Zagreb told me that is the place to be Fall, Winter, Spring and the nightlife is live. As far as cities it compares too I've heard it compares favorably to Prague before the tourist invasion.

The Croatian Women were a few notches finer than the Macedonians Women and not as conservative either since It's a mostly a catholic/christian with predominantly one Nationality (Croatian) with no tension unlike Macedonia which has a large Albanian (Muslim) population within the country. Croatia is more expensive than Macedonia by far and with that beautiful Coastline and over 1,000 islands and a huge boating culture and beautiful beaches and coastline and it's proximity to other European countries with good flight connections I could see myself living there and not being bored at all longterm.

Also for next year I would spend at least two weeks in both Vodice and Hvar for about a month to maximize it and not move around so much and really get in-tune and get a nice routine going.

Let me add that probably a good reason why guys weren't cockblocking is that they were just as interested in meeting and talking with us (Americans) about Music, Life and Sports. Its cool to be around foreigners in generally so we took full advantage and chilled with many people. The guys were extremely helpful and even offered to help find an apartment for me next year.

Sports: Basketball is huge there along with Soccer/Football. In Vodice they had a huge park next to the beach with 5 full courts you could ball on. Didn't have time to play but if I was there longer than five days and had a real routine going besides partying, drinking and hanging at the beach fornicating with Croatian babes I would've been out there daily.
