Thanks to Troller for his useful list of resources. I'm an absolute beginner in Stock Market. Could you recommend any source I can read and understand the basics about Stock Market?
Would appreciate this too.
I don't know shit about the the stock market but I'm willing to give a shot at it.
Read the classics: Reminiscences of a Stock Operator, Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits, The Market Wizards Series, and The Intelligent Investor.
I'll be the first to admit I was in the same boat, no knowledge whatsoever about the markets. These are excellent books that any new trader or investor should read and understand.
Thanks. I'll have a look

Mexican government 10 year bonds look very attractive here - collect 7.5% interest per year, plus any appreciation of the peso.
Anyone else interested?

Rare opportunity for the Rite Aid (RAD) buyout.
Currently priced at $6.93, expected to be bought out by Walgreens at $9.
If the deal fall through, you can imagine it dropping to about $5. If it goes through, you get $9.
It's a roughly 50/50 proposition for something that is more than 50% likely to go through. Trump just added a new FTC chairperson, and the one person expected to block the deal (Ramirez) will resign on Feb. 10th. When she does so, then Trump's FTC will most likely allow the deal to pass. The questions are 1) will Walgreens extend the deal or just go through with it without the FTC's blessing (likely) or just abandon the deal (unlikely), and 2) will Ramirez really kill the deal before resigning (unlikely).
Not a 100% thing, but these are the advantageous coin flips that you pray to find if you really want to gamble in the stock market. Size your bet accordingly.
Note that I am not a financial advisor and this shouldn't be considered sound financial advice; I just like advantageous gambling.

Buy AMD, buy NVDA, buy EXEL. Trust me.
My 2016 was great - 123% gains, all I did was buy AMD near the low. I used some of that profit to buy into NVDA, which has also done well. Also, a little birdie told me EXEL is getting bought out soon.
You're very welcome.

Added TSL and CAB for a merger arb play. KZ isn't a bad play either, but I'm all deployed already.
Keeping an eye on RAD to see how that drama unfolds.

I know OHI has been mentioned a few times in the other investing/location independence threads, but it's taken a big fall today. It seems largely an overreaction on news that FFO (funds for operation) missed by a penny, but revenues look strong and with this 5% drop, the yield is now above 8%. Demographic trends are favorable as it's a nursing home REIT, and it was cheaply valued even before this big drop... now it's crazy cheap in my book and the dividend looks strong. I love the combination of strong financials and high yield even if the dividends are taxed as regular income.

As much as I am loving the Trump boom, I am concerned about high P/E ratios, investor exuberance being too optimistic.
I am keeping the 401K Funds (S&P500 index fund) in play, so that I can realize the market upside, while holding cash. If there is a downturn, I'll be ready to jump in immediately.

I've mentioned it already in the 2016 thread, but CXW is still a good play this year, aiming near term 35$ at least and could go well to 40$. I bought more yesterday sub 31$.

Does anybody have a recommendation for a good book on options trading? Got kinda inspired after having read Nassim Taleb's "Antifragile" that options are the way to go. Now I just gotta read up on how the technical calculations and options trading works

Had CURE for coming up on 5 months. 20%+ return so far.
That said I am in the same boat of being very careful watching for a market drop this year. Stop losses in place etc...
