How important is beyond basic spanish in South America?

Thread title.
I'm wondering how much of a necessity knowing intermediate+ spanish is to have a good time in South American countries. If one was to just some super basic spanish, would that person find themselves bored, and not able to properly communicate? Do you think it makes more sense to wait until you have conversational spanish?
It seems like on Tinder when spoofing medillen, Cordoba, BA, etc. that most girls don't speak any english, if at all. So makes me think twice about a trip there as my spanish is pretty basic right now.
Just thought I'd reach out to hear some thoughts on this. Maybe its not the right time.

It depends on what your goals are. A good looking guy who isn't weird can meet lots of girls who speak English (and some who don't but will still meet and have Google translate dates) but if your goal is to know the country and culture well then you should learn as much Spanish as you can. Start studying at home right away, I've heard that Pimsleur is pretty good then fly to your target city and enroll in a two week intensive Spanish language course and that will help a lot. Roosh recommended that I do that in my first Bogota data sheet, so I studied at Nueva Lengua school in Chapinero, it was great advice.

Colombia is actually overpriced and I would recommend studying in a place like Atigua, Guatamala where you can get a full week for about $100 compared to the $240 in Bogota. I haven't been to Guatamala but from what I hear its a great place to focus on Spanish since the women are ugly and the drugs less plentiful than Colombia! There's direct flights via Avianca from Guatemala city to Bogota, I'd go full monk mode there for 2-4 weeks, probably stay with a family then let loose once you get to the land of fake asses and ten dollar 8 balls. I did extra curricular stiff like white water rafting, salsa lessons and feeding poor kids at an orphanage in Bogota, all great experiences.

What do you want to do? If your goal is to just go there for a few weeks and get a few bangs then never return I wouldn't even bother with learning too much. If you want to travel to South America on a consistent basis or live there then obviously try and learn as much as you can.
In most top tier cities you should be able to out and go on dates no problem with probably a few hours worth of self study. Just hang out in richer areas and around university students who in my experience all speak at least very basic English.

I've never been to Argentina, other than a couple of two week benders in Mexico (which were great), Colombia is all I know as it has everything I'm looking for. I agree that if you chase the high end girls, which I have, then you can get by in English only. However, speaking Spanish opens up doors to the poorer ghetto girls (90% of the population) who I love. My proudest moment was banging a girl selling tinto (cheap 20 cent coffee) in the streets of Bogota in a love motel within an hour of meeting her (we had lunch), that wouldn't have been possible without speaking Spanish.

For young good looking white guys or any man who has blond hair or blue eyes, you really don't need more than basic Spanish. Girls will put in the effort to communicate with you and will seek you out.
If you are darker skinned or can pass as a local, then yes conversational spanish is a must in order to get laid often.
It is even worse in Brazil. I can honestly say, that in the last 2 months I have been in Brazil, I would have 0 lays if I did not speak Portuguese.

On this forum I once saw a post (which I cannot find anymore) about the Spanish languages in South America. Apparantly, there is a big difference, with some countries bordering dialects which are very difficult to understand for those who have learnt Spanish in high school etc. Maybe somebody could freshen up that South America country list in terms of Spanish "correctness" :-).
I just think it would be unwise to learn Spanish in a country where the dialect is so strong that you will struggle in other countries.

The Spanish spoken in the Colombian interior, particularly Bogota, is very clear, they speak slowly and enunciate the words well which makes it a great place to learn. Up on the coast they speak very fast and drop consonants, I can barely understand the Spanish up there.

If you want to live an incredible experience in Colombia full of crazy stories with top tier chicas then you need Spanish.
As you have said, even in tinder many many hot girls don’t speak more than Spanish.
Even for your personal improvement in gaming, speaking Spanish means more interesting dates, instant dates, more topics to talk about, you can take girls to another venues in dates (parks, museums, cinema…) ,daygame…
Off course, as it have been mentioned a lot of times in this forum, you can make your way without speaking the language BUT for what quality of girls and for what quality of experience…
There is also something very important and that you have to think about; visa regulations.
If you want to stay more than 2 months in Colombia then I highly recommend that you make your inscription in a Spanish language school in bogota.
In 6 months you can reach level B2 (advanced spanish). There are some interesting schools in bogota and prices are reduced by 30 to 50 % if you book more than 2 levels…
6 months in a school of language means a 1 year visa…

I think one advantage of learning Spanish in Central America or Ecuador is that you can get private lessons at schools for around the same price as group lessons in Colombia.
You can find private lessons in many countries from $5 to 8.50 USD.

Ask yourself how well do you want to do. Basic Spanish should me learned by most people living in the US, in my opinion. It only helps me in game and business. I just sold a car to a Mexican National, solamente hablando Espanol. Just go ahead and try to learn as much as you can, get out there and start using it and your skillset will exponentially grow. Then you can add it to your permanent repetoire or bag-of-tricks. Nothing like being a total Gringo, then making a joke, or saying something clever in Spanish and people exclaiming "I didn't know you speak Spanish. Where did you learn? etc." Conversation started.
