Have you ever seen a fight break out at the gym?

Yeah I've never seen shit like that happen.

Maybe a dude shaking his head or telling a dude to rack his weights.

We have Oly Stations to lift and some dude left the bar with rubber weights on it like a fucking ass hat.

I'm always polite, after a person finishes a set I ask them how many they have left (I've rarely done this).

I always find an alternative machine to bide my time.

Resting asshole face helps, people leave you alone.

There is literally no reason for you to fight someone at a gym, unless you're looking for it.

Let an ass hat hog some weights, just find other shit to do, you have to be fluid at the gym.

Me neither has seen a fight in a gym.
Just a few weeks, one guy call an other out for not putting the weights back. The first should be in his 40s and the younger one in his mid 30s. The older one rise his voice and the complete gym went silent. lol
In an other case I was doing deadlifts. I put some weights around for the next set. A young and fresh guy just grab them. I asked whats up, why he steal my weights? He said he need them. I did ask why he not just take similar weights that are hanging behind him? He then put the weights back but with a strange stare. Don't know what was up with this guy. Also have never seen him again so far.

Beside that the gym it the place where people show the most respect to each other. You have all those buff dudes, often in a small space environment but they never touch each other. People ask how long you need in the rack, for this weight. If you need a spotter its also never an issue, beside not everyone is a good spotter. You start to recognize each other, those who are regulars with you.
It's mention before, alcohol or drugs are the main reason for fights, or young guys full with testosterone and no glue where they stand.

We will stand tall in the sunshine
With the truth upon our side
And if we have to go alone
We'll go alone with pride

I don't lift in a bar or a prison, so no.

Weird question.

I was once in a rough gym in my city (I like rough gyms) when a dude walks in and just beats the living shit out of some guy training. Of course, it was over a girl. Was all done and dusted and everyone was back to training within a minute or two.

Having said that, the owner of this gym got shot walking out of the door one day so this incident was rather tame.

I've known gym owners fight one another over perceived slights and steroid business issues...one guy even killed a gym owner in my city by throwing him over a fire escape a few years back.

My personal opinion is that most bodybuilders/serious trainers are actually pretty meek guys, often compensating for this with training. As such, they never go looking for fights. It's just that small 1% criminal element that you get at gyms that cause 99% of the problems.

I threw a dude over a bench in the weight room one time in high school. I was a young rising star on the football team and he was a senior. I don't remember what he was giving me shit about. Probably a girl or something. I was one of the boys after that.

I saw a near-fight at my old gym once. A staff member made a generic announcement on the PA about re-racking your weights, and one of the regulars thought that that announcement was directed at him, and got in the dude's face. The rent-a-cops from the mall the gym was housed in had to be brought in to break it up. Stupid shit. Re-racking your weights is just good gym etiquette.

The guys that got in the fight had at least a decent amount of muscle on them, but there's always somebody bigger at the gym.

Never seen anything go down over gym etiquette or the like but a friend of mine got in an argument with a staff member about rugby a couple of years ago. Said staff member was Scottish, known for their pointlessly large amount of national pride, my friend was making fun of the Scottish rugby team and the staff member actually took a swing at him over something he said lol. My friend just moved out of the way and then the guy got held back so nothing really happened. Oh and he got sacked, rekt.

Those two waited till that guy wasn't free to move his arms. Pussy shit. If you're going to stomp somebody with a buddy at least give the guy a fair chance. This isn't a street fight.

Have you ever seen a fight break out at the gym?

I've had a few fights at the gym, usually on the basketball court.

Usually, just little stuff like this:

(Fast forward to the 50 second mark)

Once, when I was a teenager, my friend and I were talking shit to a body builder -- The bodybuilder attacked me and I had to recused by another bodybuilder.

That was many years ago.

--

Sadly, there was a murder at one of the gyms I go to.

This is gym where I bring RVF members to workout! A few Roosh guys have been to this gym with me!

I knew both of these guys!

The murderer was actually a really nice guy!

I didn't know he was on steroids and meth!

Fuck!!!

Very sad!

He threw his life away in one moment of anger!

Be careful with the steroids and drugs guys!!!!

It looks like the dude spat in the other guys face at 1:43, that's why he got decked. Plus you can't hear what they're saying but you can sorta tell he's a cunt just from his body language. I get the feeling he deserved it.

Don't know if I caught that, but I did catch one of the pair spitting on the back of his head at 0:44, setting the stage for that type of behavior. He should have started swinging right there.

Anyways, yeah, he looked like an asshole, and he probably did deserve to get hit. He also looked like he was in over his head the way he was throwing stuff around trying to be intimidating and turning his back on them left and right like he didn't realize the danger he was in.

But what bothers me more is you could tell those other two guys had zero qualms about ratpacking someone and that they've done it multiple times before. As soon as they came out of the gate in the beginning, picking at their pockets and bouncing on their toes, it was obvious he was not going to fight just one.

They didn't think twice about that, and a second later they made a point to circle around on opposing signs. Then they set him up like that again, getting on either side of him just before actually attacking him.

That's not the type of thing that occurs when two guys are just so mad they can't help but start swinging at once. To me, it shows they've collaborated enough on assualting single individuals that they've got a rhythm and unspoken strategy for doing so. I can't stand those types.

Then the way they puff up their chests and act like their so hard after working together to take down one single man. I know there are countless guys out there in our cities thinking and acting like this these days (pretty much in every single country in the world), but that doesn't make it right, and it never stops being sickening and shameful in my eyes.

Hey, if there's a scenario where you've got to do it, then I guess that's life, but at least don't pretend you deserve a UFC belt afterwards.

On the other hand, I supposed they had to front a bit and prance around like they were bad asses afterward before someone else got an idea to get involved.

I don't know...I suppose no one looks like much of a reasonable person when they're getting in a fistfight over gym ettiquite, but none come across as very honorable chaps from where I'm sitting.

Have you ever seen a fight break out at the gym?

Here's my thread about this: thread-44833.html

This was a couple years ago. I loaned this dude in my gym one of those polar heart monitors (before smartwatches) for a few days. Dude was 6'2" and about 80lbs heavier than me & on juice (I'm 5'7"). He then wouldn't give it back and told everyone it was his and I was lying (?!). Everytime I saw him I asked him to return it to me. Then one day when I asked him he started shouting at me at the top of his lungs that I'll never get it back and the next time I ever talk to him about it he'll "knock my teeth out."

I wasn't about to start a fight because I knew I would get my ass kicked but I held ground shouted that he was a liar and a thief. Everyone stopped what they were doing and watched. Then the gym manager came out and told me to leave! Now I had previously told the manager the situation in passing a while ago, but he was friends with the other guy who stole my heart rate monitor and I got the short end of the stick.

I was mad as hell and I stood outside the gym. The manager told me to leave or he would call the cops. I said fuck this, I'm calling the cops. Someone in your gym stole my watch and then assault (not battery, but assualts are legal threats). So the cops came and did nothing. None of the guys I was friendly with at the gym would talk to the cops (I think they were afraid of the other guy a bit) and the manager was a former cop who basically told the cop that everything was under control, it was all a little misunderstanding. Cop told me either he would arrest both of us or nothing, I could take it to civil court. Lesson learned: don't ever count on cops to "do the right thing." The only purpose of them is for the paper trail to absolve you of liability later on down the line.

If the basketball court at the gym counts, I feel like I've seen 25-30. Usually scuffles like that but I have seen a few nasty ones. Ive never seen an issue in the weight room though. In general lifters are the nicest group of people.

I agree. A lot more ego involved in the sense that every moment is a challenge and if some asshole says some shit to you because he outplayed you, maybe you snap.

I rarely see any weights talking shit to me because I couldn't lift it. And if I heard shit talk from a barbell and talked back to it. I don't think anyone would be bothering me at the gym. I bet I could tell some bigger guy to get off a bench even [Image: lol.gif]

Edit: in my attempt for humor I used the word rarely. I should have said never. Except that one time at band camp.

Friend of mine had some fight with a skilled martial arts guy. So my friend had no chance of winning. The guy had a marial arts school with a big window. My friend just smashed the window with a stone in the night. Every time the window got repaired, he did it again.
The martial art guy could not proof that it was my friend, but he was guessing so. The Insurance company said, they wills stop to pay or already did. Then the martial arts guy did beg my friend to stop.

When you have with bigger and stronger guys, you have to find your way to attack. You could scratch his car or pull a knife into his tires. Or smash something over his head when he leaves the gym.

^^^

Tl;dr random question. What did they fight about and who started it. Just curious.

while easier said than done, your friend could have let it be and learned from the fight. I thought martial arts guys were all about self defense? At least the purists are unless they are that guy from Karate Kid. What did they fight about? I am asking only because of a pure martial arts guy got in a fight then in theory your friend would be the aggressor. So after losing something he started, it seems worse that he attached the window regularly.

However, if the martial arts guy started it. Well fuck it.

But if he couldn't let it go, I can see a tactic like breaking a window over and over again would give him some revenge.

Have you ever seen a fight break out at the gym?

Its more then 10 years ago and I don't know what the reason was. It was not a real friend, just a co worker / mate and we have no longer contact. It can be also that my mate did start it and could not take a lose.^^ And there are many martial arts guys out there, that want to test how thug they are. So you have more karate kid bullies and less Daniels.
Some people can't let it go. Its even harder when you are the one that feel he is "right". Like some punk insult you, and then beats you up. I had guys that did insult me and I hit them. They realised their negative behaviour and all fine. Others then just heat up.

I just did consider it funny that he chose the way to smash the window lol

Have you ever seen a fight break out at the gym?

I saw a guy who looked like he was in a 'roid rage start throwing benches and weights around in the weight room once when I was in college. Everyone just stood there and watched him, including the student employees. He finally calmed down and helped put everything back.

By the way, if someone is supersetting or circuit training and hasn't been on a certain piece of equipment in 10 minutes or so, I will sometimes jump on it and use it without asking him if he's finished. I've gotten some stares and glares for doing so, but no one has ever said anything to me about it.

The gym is all about discipline, plus, picking a fight in the weight room means you're picking a fight with a dude that lifts. Even if you win, you're going to get hurt, plus you lose you're gym. Most guys aren't that stupid when they're sober.

Most fights are when some non-lifter doesn't know etiquette, and gets into it with a regular, who may or may not be pushing boundaries.

Those two dudes that jumped that guy were just thugs. You can tell by their body types and dress, they're not regular lifters. And the way they tag teamed that guy, they're just bad news.
