Sad day when WIA's style pics don't load in your browser.

@Travesty - Go to a sunglasses hut and try on the different sizes so you know if 52 or 54 fits better on you but don't buy them there because they will hit you with the full retail price. You can get them off amazon much cheaper because they rely on volume for their profits. I was skeptical if they would be real at over $100 cheaper than retail but they are exactly the same as the ones I tried on in the store.

If I was rich I would have dropped some real cash on a vintage pair of persols. They used to be made by some company called ratti but now I guess almost all italian designer sunglasses are made by luxottica, which is owned by the same parent company as sunglasses hut. There are a few small differences in the new design.

Either way, it was a much needed graduation from my raybans. I feel a cut above the rest now when it comes to my sunglasses game since everyone and their sister has raybans.

You my friend no your stuff and have great taste.

Steve McQueen wears a sweet pair of Persol ratti's in the final scene of The Thomas Crown Affair.

I saw a very similar pair recently for sale for $895, even if I had the cash I couldn't drop that on a pair of sunglasses.

I do own 3 pairs of Persol's though, got to love outlet malls in America.

My old man has a pair of old school Wayfarers from the 80s, made by Bausch and Lomb.

Which persols do you have?

I would have to be filthy rich to be able to justify the ratti frames.

I could probably justify picking up another pair of persols down the road though. They look so much damn cooler than my old raybans.

My raybans are actually a vintage pair my barber gifted me a few years ago. He has a huge collection of them from back when they used real gold in the frames. They were stamped with the B&L letters along side the actual amount of gold in the frames. A lot of those styles I don't even think you can buy anymore.

Scored one of these in a louder light red color. Walked around downtown when I was in Corpus Christi wearing it. Got stopped a good 5 or 6 times with people complimenting me on it.

Was wearing a black with light pin strips collared shirt underneath, black jeans, and black leather shoes.

It's out of season, but people definitely like that look.

Loud colour, tapered waist, and big bold lapels/collar. A bold coat that most men wouldn't have the courage and/or style to wear. That's why everyone loved it.

I love the massive collar and lapels on this thing, I have a knee-length double breasted overcoat in mid-blue with similar large lapels, and it gets mad love from women. I don't like the trend of the last few years towards tiny lapels, it looks so effeminate and mousy.

Paging Suits and the other style gurus:

I very well understand that wearing a black suit is in many ways a faux pas, especially during the day. ( you look like a waiter, try hard etc)

But what is the basic rule for black slacks? Not the entire suit, just the black bottoms.

I recently got, for a really good deal, two pairs of black slacks. One is a more satiny, polyesther and the other is more of a dull courdoroy. They both fit perfectly and I dont think they need the slightest bit of tailoring. They look good.

Id like to wear them during the day at work. Is this going to be as misguided and incongruent as wearing, say, a two piece black suit during the day?

I feel like with only the bottoms being black I can get away with it. Im going for a slightly edgier version of business casual. I dont work in an office and run my own store.

Any thoughts?

More like a de-frocked Jesuit or undertaker; fine-dining Waiters wear black tie.

As long as it's not an 'orphaned' suit trousers (without the jacket), that is, not part of a suit, I think it is suitable. Bonus for black selvedge denim like this "Black Ring" from Nudie (faded through use)

No, just trousers will not make you look like a nerd who watched too many 90's Tarentino movies.

The trend is from low-obesity Italy, especially the Milan industry, and best recreated here via J Crew's 'ludlow' suiting; trouble is, if you are slender (or tall & thin), wider lapels make the wearer look 'skinny'. The lapel size should be based on how 'wide' your torso is.

Summer Steez

If you want to show off your hard work, this is how you do it
[Image: tumblr_o8lxkkGt2n1r4mlzao2_1280.jpg]

For those of us not quite so brolic
- the sun glasses
- the darker shirt on white/light pants
- the light colored shoes.
- the colors are here, be they light pastels, or bold primaries.
- Print wise - gingham is always in and flowers make a comeback.

All that says summer

The hotter it gets, the more you end shifting towards
- hats and sunglasses
- polos and t-shirts
- shorts of varying lengths
- white sneakers, moccasins, driving shoes, and dare I say sandals. I will never have a sandal recommendation.

So if it's not super hot, or you going on an afternoon/evening date

Yeah I've purchased a bunch of different products from Gustin. Boots, selvedge, t-shirts/shirts, etc. Overall I've been pleased. Make sure you know your size for sure, because exchanges can be a bit complicated with them as they don't hold inventory.

Their boots are legitimate good quality and they create some of the most innovative types selvedge denim (material, color, design) that I've seen around. Selvedge is very good value for the price as well.

I didn't like the t-shirts/shirts and won't buy anymore of theirs. They are not fitted enough or are tapered for an athletic frame. They are a bit boxy and were clearly designed for the average chubby American male.

Dita sunglasses - when you want to let everyone around you know you are better than they are!

Read a good article about Dita Eyewear this weekend. Apart from the price (you have to drop some 650 € for a pair of Mach One), I've aways wondered why the brand was not very popular - to say the least - in the US (as it is in Japan for example), while it's a California-based company - article explains.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Ultimate Guide To Dita Eyewear

High-end eyewear can be a tough sell for many guys. After all, why shell out hundreds of dollars for a set of shades, when you can pick up a pair of passable knock-offs for next to nothing? Well, there are a few reasons for investing in a pair of legitimately quality eyewear (not ‘pay for the brand’ pieces): durability, long-term value and ocular health. Like so many things, you get what you pay for.

When it comes to our shades, we’ve been taken by the high-quality and aesthetic of a company called Dita. For those in-the-know, these are some seriously covetable sunglasses. Haven’t heard of Dita? Well that’s about to change.

The Los Angeles-based company was founded by lifelong friends Jeff Solorio and John Juniper in 1996, formed as a way to pay homage to the classic eyewear styles of the 50’s through the 80’s. Since that first collection, they’ve become known for seamlessly combining classic silhouettes with modern materials and techniques to produce a superior eyewear experience.

To help maintain this exclusivity, Dita avoids major ad campaigns, sponsored wearers and mass-market retailers.

Dita has since become known as a brand that retains its value over the years, even increasing – just look at Dita on eBay – because of the high quality of the pieces and their exclusivity. In fact, many embrace the brand as an alternative to trend of label-branded eyewear (read: low-end frames with high end branding), since all Dita frames are minimally branded and produced in-house. They are proud of the fact that they are not a branding company and that they design and make their own frames and that fact shows in the sunglasses they make.

To help maintain this exclusivity, Dita avoids major ad campaigns, sponsored wearers and mass-market retailers. However, that hasn’t prevented the popularity of the brand amongst the Hollywood elite. Dita is especially popular with celebrities like Brad Pitt, Lenny Kravitz and Jamie Foxx, just to name a few.

The brand is also exceptionally popular in Japan, where a number of high-profile collaborations with Japanese labels like Neighborhood and visvim have raised Dita’s profile with the fashion set.

In 2007, Dita launched their much anticipated Optical eyewear line, which was inspired by timeless classics. More recently, they launched a sports/athletic eyewear offshoot called “Lancier by Dita Eyewear,” which were designed to provide high-performance vision solutions in sports.

Their most recent “Legends Lookbook” stars Dita Von Teese and Tattooist Mark Mahoney. While, that’s all well and good, what else makes Dita stand out from other sunglasses on the market? That’s simple: they’re some of the highest quality frames that you can get your hands on. Dita’s frames are made using only the finest Japanese ‘Zyl’ Acetate, which is plant-derived for superior sustainability and quality. Many eyewear connoisseurs believe that Japanese ‘Zyl’ acetate to be the best in the world because it has a more natural, less ‘plasticky’ feel and has to be finished by hand. Dita frames are cut from large blocks of this acetate to ensure the strength and uniformity of each and every pair. Finally, Dita uses their signature ‘hex’ rivets instead of traditional screws for a stronger, more substantial look and feel.

Now that you know all about Dita, why not grab a pair to spice up your own style? They’re definitely worth every dollar. You can pick them up at their ‘Dita Legends’ online store, using Dita’s Store Locator or stopping by one of their ‘Dita Legends’ shops in Los Angeles, Tokyo and Newport Beach. It’s at one of these operated shops that Dita frames can be exclusively purchased, as well as other high-end fashion items that align with the brand and aesthetic.

Love this jacket:

I have that jacket in "dark oak" I believe, its a medium brown. Actually don't like the jacket very much. Its waxed and heavy, real thick and hard. It keeps the moisture inside and it keeps a person real warm, so I can only wear it when its cold outside, like real cold, otherwise I sweat and it makes the inside of the coat wet and sticky.

If you are a size small and want a brown one I will sell it to you cheap.

I have 3 pairs of jeans: 14 oz. dark blue, 13 oz. medium blue, and 10 oz. white stretch.

I like the white jeans the best. I find the cut of the jeans terrible. I get straight cut and it still is very tight in the thighs, I get crotch blow out from the way the hips are cut, very very small in the hip box area, its not large in cubic area, so if you have a butt or thighs even the straight cut fit like shit.

Also I find that raw denim look terrible as they age. I much prefer a dark wash jean that stays dark for a long time. I don't want "sick fades" but I didn't realize that when I bought a couple pairs. New they are nice, but as they wear they look bad in my opinion.

So I like the white jeans best. They stretch in the hip area, I sized up even though they are lighter weight and now fit alright. After washing them I tailor length and slimmed up the bottom near the cuff a little.

Your "look' should be congruent with your personality.

Your fashion should match your vibe.

Your clothes should fit your attitude.

--

Many guys dress incongruently

They wear fancy clothes but their game is basic.

--

I was guilty of this myself...

I wore business professional slacks and collared shirts but my game was rugged and sexual.

My clothes did NOT match my vibe!

Now, I wear mostly ripped jeans, boots, and white Ts.. This is much more congruent with my personality/vibe.

Guys who dress fancy have no game and are "pretenders". Hmmmmm. It's bit of a generality. Limit SJW logic. It is bit like saying that guys who drive a Porsche do it just to pick-up golddiggers. I personally wear expensive brands (Zegna, Brioni, Berluti, Tom Ford, ect - just for jeans I stay faithfull to Diesel ripped models) but dress with quality stuff firstly for myself (and even wear quality -and expensive- socks and underwears). As you said, your look should be congruent with your personality. Guys who appreciate upscale/quality/stylish stuff are not necessarily weak in game. They are just quality demanding persons, nothing wrong with that. To each its own.

One aspect of dressing well, or at least not being oblivious to how you present yourself, concerns a staple of men's wardrobes.

I'm talking about simple, one-coloured T-shirts. No prints or brand displays. Just one colour that drapes your upper body.

Hank Moody is a good role model for style.

Lots of black T-shirts here, but they're incredibly diverse IMO. They're the canvas; add a nice pair of jeans or chinos and some dope footgear and you'll be top shelf in most places during weekdays.

When I observe people on the bus, in the mall and pretty much anywhere else, I'd go so far as to say that 80% don T-shirts that are ill-fitted, have ridiculous prints or yuuuge brand displays (brand cucking), or multicoloured/patterned. Sport jerseys and band shirts fall into this category as well. No doubt they take the advice that "colour and statements are bold" to heart, thus ending up looking like everybody else.

Hank Moody wouldn't be caught dead in this.

I'm very simple in style. I don't work in finance or law, so no need for me to have a huge selection of suits and shirts since I'd barely wear them outside special occasions. But I put in time to find simple, classy, good fits which will lasts a long time, are insensitive to trends and combine easily with the rest of my wardrobe; something that does the job outside of the boardroom, wedding or other dressy events.

The number of guys knowing how to pick the right T-shirt are dwindling by the day as testosterone levels decline and brand cucking rise. We can use this. Stand out by picking the simplest there is.

I wear Kenzo T-shirts (Tiger collection), they are pretty cool. Have five or six different colors. Don't think I look like a "brand cuck" with it, but your opinion might differ of course [Image: smile.gif].

thread-37535...pid1326849

Anyway T-shirts are IMO for staying home or going to the beach. To stroll around or go out - in summer - I prefer quality and simple (yet stylish) polos. Lacoste in the daytime, and to go out at night, some more "chic" stuff (cotton and silk-blend or high quality cotton-piqué) with just a discreet brand embroidery (Zegna, Lanvin, Burberry, Bottega Veneta, ect). In the FSU, even discreetly, you have to show which class you are in.

Edit: bought last week (on sales) this cool Kenzo cotton sweater : https://www.kenzo.com/fr/sweatshirt-ton-...nalsweatsh - head turner.

I moved out of the city about a year ago, and its funny how unstylish the average suburban American male is (city wasn't much different but you saw some stylish well put together guys), even guys in their 20s look like chodes. The standard outfit is dad sneakers/hiking shoes/bulky work boots, a T shirt thats too big with the sleeves ending at or past the elbow, baggy jeans or cargo shorts (with white socks showing if they're wearing shorts), and if they shell out any money its on a pair of over the top Oakleys like this.

[Image: 6b52c6_42abdda2166247c2913e790e63bd9809....80%8Bg_srz]

I go to work wearing clothes that fit and a pair of Redwings with a christy sole (grey collar job), and I get labeled a metrosexual. Its hilarious. Meanwhile these guys all constantly complain (they're late 20s early 30s) about their wives and girlfriends (I've met them, all are fat sub 4s except one guys wife whos petite and kinda cute) not fucking them, not giving BJs, not cooking for them, and generally treating them like shit.

I live in a sea of blue pill men whos destiny is to end up sleeping on the couch and eventual divorce rape.

Anyways, the point is that in the current American landscape the bar is set really low, if you get in good shape and just dress to compliment your physique (like the guys in Gios post, those are all classic looks you can put together on a budget) your way ahead of the curve.
