@Travesty - Go to a sunglasses hut and try on the different sizes so you know if 52 or 54 fits better on you but don't buy them there because they will hit you with the full retail price. I saw a very similar pair recently for sale for $895, even if I had the cash I couldn't drop that on a pair of sunglasses.

I could probably justify picking up another pair of persols down the road though. They look so much damn cooler than my old raybans.

My raybans are actually a vintage pair my barber gifted me a few years ago. He has a huge collection of them from back when they used real gold in the frames. They were stamped with the B&L letters along side the actual amount of gold in the frames. A lot of those styles I don't even think you can buy anymore.

Paging Suits and the other style gurus:

I very well understand that wearing a black suit is in many ways a faux pas, especially during the day. ( you look like a waiter, try hard etc)

But what is the basic rule for black slacks? Not the entire suit, just the black bottoms.

I recently got, for a really good deal, two pairs of black slacks. One is a more satiny, polyesther and the other is more of a dull courdoroy. They both fit perfectly and I dont think they need the slightest bit of tailoring. They look good.

Id like to wear them during the day at work. Is this going to be as misguided and incongruent as wearing, say, a two piece black suit during the day?

I feel like with only the bottoms being black I can get away with it. Im going for a slightly edgier version of business casual. I dont work in an office and run my own store.

Any thoughts?

As long as it's not an 'orphaned' suit trousers (without the jacket), that is, not part of a suit, I think it is suitable. Bonus for black selvedge denim like this "Black Ring" from Nudie (faded through use)

The trend is from low-obesity Italy, especially the Milan industry, and best recreated here via J Crew's 'ludlow' suiting; trouble is, if you are slender (or tall & thin), wider lapels make the wearer look 'skinny'. The lapel size should be based on how 'wide' your torso is.

The hotter it gets, the more you end shifting towards

Yeah I've purchased a bunch of different products from Gustin. Boots, selvedge, t-shirts/shirts, etc. Overall I've been pleased. Make sure you know your size for sure, because exchanges can be a bit complicated with them as they don't hold inventory.

Their boots are legitimate good quality and they create some of the most innovative types selvedge denim (material, color, design) that I've seen around. Selvedge is very good value for the price as well.

I didn't like the t-shirts/shirts and won't buy anymore of theirs. They are not fitted enough or are tapered for an athletic frame. They are a bit boxy and were clearly designed for the average chubby American male.

I have that jacket in "dark oak" I believe, its a medium brown. Actually don't like the jacket very much. Its waxed and heavy, real thick and hard. It keeps the moisture inside and it keeps a person real warm, so I can only wear it when its cold outside, like real cold, otherwise I sweat and it makes the inside of the coat wet and sticky.

If you are a size small and want a brown one I will sell it to you cheap.

I have 3 pairs of jeans: 14 oz. dark blue, 13 oz. medium blue, and 10 oz. white stretch.

I like the white jeans the best. I find the cut of the jeans terrible. I get straight cut and it still is very tight in the thighs, I get crotch blow out from the way the hips are cut, very very small in the hip box area, its not large in cubic area, so if you have a butt or thighs even the straight cut fit like shit.

Also I find that raw denim look terrible as they age. I much prefer a dark wash jean that stays dark for a long time. I don't want "sick fades" but I didn't realize that when I bought a couple pairs. New they are nice, but as they wear they look bad in my opinion.

So I like the white jeans best. They stretch in the hip area, I sized up even though they are lighter weight and now fit alright. After washing them I tailor length and slimmed up the bottom near the cuff a little.

One aspect of dressing well, or at least not being oblivious to how you present yourself, concerns a staple of men's wardrobes.

I'm talking about simple, one-coloured T-shirts. No prints or brand displays. Just one colour that drapes your upper body.

Lots of black T-shirts here, but they're incredibly diverse IMO. They're the canvas; add a nice pair of jeans or chinos and some dope footgear and you'll be top shelf in most places during weekdays.

When I observe people on the bus, in the mall and pretty much anywhere else, I'd go so far as to say that 80% don T-shirts that are ill-fitted, have ridiculous prints or yuuuge brand displays (brand cucking), or multicoloured/patterned. Sport jerseys and band shirts fall into this category as well. No doubt they take the advice that "colour and statements are bold" to heart, thus ending up looking like everybody else.

I'm very simple in style. I don't work in finance or law, so no need for me to have a huge selection of suits and shirts since I'd barely wear them outside special occasions. But I put in time to find simple, classy, good fits which will lasts a long time, are insensitive to trends and combine easily with the rest of my wardrobe; something that does the job outside of the boardroom, wedding or other dressy events.

The number of guys knowing how to pick the right T-shirt are dwindling by the day as testosterone levels decline and brand cucking rise. We can use this. Stand out by picking the simplest there is.

I wear Kenzo T-shirts (Tiger collection), they are pretty cool. Have five or six different colors. Don't think I look like a "brand cuck" with it, but your opinion might differ of course .

Anyway T-shirts are IMO for staying home or going to the beach. To stroll around or go out - in summer - I prefer quality and simple (yet stylish) polos. Lacoste in the daytime, and to go out at night, some more "chic" stuff (cotton and silk-blend or high quality cotton-piqué) with just a discreet brand embroidery (Zegna, Lanvin, Burberry, Bottega Veneta, ect). In the FSU, even discreetly, you have to show which class you are in.

I moved out of the city about a year ago, and its funny how unstylish the average suburban American male is (city wasn't much different but you saw some stylish well put together guys), even guys in their 20s look like chodes. The standard outfit is dad sneakers/hiking shoes/bulky work boots, a T shirt thats too big with the sleeves ending at or past the elbow, baggy jeans or cargo shorts (with white socks showing if they're wearing shorts), and if they shell out any money its on a pair of over the top Oakleys like this.



I go to work wearing clothes that fit and a pair of Redwings with a christy sole (grey collar job), and I get labeled a metrosexual. Its hilarious. Meanwhile these guys all constantly complain (they're late 20s early 30s) about their wives and girlfriends (I've met them, all are fat sub 4s except one guys wife whos petite and kinda cute) not fucking them, not giving BJs, not cooking for them, and generally treating them like shit.

I live in a sea of blue pill men whos destiny is to end up sleeping on the couch and eventual divorce rape.

Anyways, the point is that in the current American landscape the bar is set really low, if you get in good shape and just dress to compliment your physique (like the guys in Gios post, those are all classic looks you can put together on a budget) your way ahead of the curve.
