Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa.

According to a report, Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.

Chief U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia, of the Western Judicial District of Texas, was notified about the death from the U.S. Marshals Service.

U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said he was among those notified about Scalia's death.

"I was told it was this morning," Biery said of Scalia's death. "It happened on a ranch out near Marfa. As far as the details, I think it's pretty vague right now as to how," he said. "My reaction is it's very unfortunate. It's unfortunate with any death, and politically in the presidential cycle we're in, my educated guess is nothing will happen before the next president is elected."

The U.S. Marshal Service, the Presidio County sheriff and the FBI were involved in the investigation.
Officials with the law enforcement agencies declined to comment.

A federal official who asked not to be named said there was no evidence of foul play and it appeared that Scalia died of natural causes.

A gray Cadillac hearse pulled into the ranch last Saturday afternoon. The hearse came from Alpine Memorial Funeral Home.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott released a statement Saturday afternoon, calling Scalia a man of God, a patriot and an "unwavering defender of the written Constitution."

"He was the solid rock who turned away so many attempts to depart from and distort the Constitution," Abbott said. "We mourn his passing, and we pray that his successor on the Supreme Court will take his place as a champion for the written Constitution and the Rule of Law. Cecilia and I extend our deepest condolences to his family, and we will keep them in our thoughts and prayers."

Scalia was nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1986 by President Ronald Reagan.

RIP

But ill ask what everyone is thinking. Is there enough time from now till november for Obama replace him with an SJW to the supreme court? And can republicans stop it or at least delay it? Also how does this affect the current issues they were debating, i believe affirmative action was already in progress.

It most likely won't go through in time before the next president comes in. I don't even think Obama would try.

If the republicans had any balls they could block it until after the election.

They've proven themselves time and time again to be enormous pussies though, so it could go either way.

RIP Scalia... he was one of the last of the decent judges out there.

Expect many crocodile tears and barbed remarks about the late judge's "racism" and "sexism" from Elena Kagan, Sonia Sotomayor and other assorted cucks.

RIP Scalia

I have read a lot of its legal work at school.

HCE, you know that Sotomayor boasted that she got to the Supreme Court only because of affirmative action?

Tragic to see Justice Scalia go. He's been a bedrock of conservatism and constitutional originalism on SCOTUS for decades. At least he went out in his sleep doing something he loved.

From a political standpoint, this is a worst-case scenario. Obama will try to replace him with a progressive to swing the balance of power on the court toward the liberals. If he manages to do it with the Senate, it will be something that lasts for decades.

If you follow SCOTUS closely, you will notice that the most controversial decisions are frequently decided 5-4 with conservative Justices Roberts, Kennedy, Thomas, Scalia, and Alito on one side and liberal Justices Ginsburg, Breyer, Sotomayor, and Kagan on the other. That is unless Justice Kennedy sympathizes with the liberals.

Should Obama push a liberal judge past the cucks in the Senate (60 votes needed for a confirmation), this country will be royally fucked. Constitutional rights will be flushed down the toilet. Even a strong president such as Trump would struggle to stay on top of a Judiciary that would actively try to undermine any rational move. SCOTUS has the power to invalidate any law or executive action. That's the power of wearing a robe.

What happens in the coming months with respect to SCOTUS will probably be as important as the 2016 Election itself.

This is quite a blow. Hopefully what few conservatives there are in the senate can stop another ultra-liberal appointment.

Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck.

What else can I say?

Justice Scalia was to the Supreme Court what Derek Jeter was to the Yankees, a rock, the captain, the key player, 30+ years experience, I am in shock, I really am.

For the US, this is the most significant piece of news this year, by far.

The GOP must use its Senate majority to block any Obama nominee. The stakes are too high.

A progressive/SJW appointment to the Supreme Court would give them a 5-4 majority for the foreseeable future. Ginsburg could live for another decade for all we know. A 5-4 majority (not even counting Anthony Kennedy) means that we are fucked in many ways that matter.

Bad luck. Why couldn't he drop dead while Obama isn't in office?

Now we're going to have a fat gay transgender multiracial liberal faggot appointed in there to satisfy the diversity nazis. Not my abuela.

I'm sorry to hear of his passing, even though I didn't agree with many of his policies - his presence there slowed the progressive movement by at least a decade. He did a lot more good than harm and took an active role in not bastardizing the Constitution.

SCOTUS Dean Antonin Scalia passed away and Obama is going to name his replacement. Awful news. Scalia was one of the best, smart and outspoken.

Some in Obama's inner circle will try to get him to play nice with Republicans on this. How? There is a senior judge on the DC Circuit Court of Appeals named Merrick Garland. He's a Clinton appointee, but he's considered non-political and the least liberal of the Democrats on that court. Conservatives give him grudging respect, one group calling him "not as bad" as other Democrats in robes. He was considered for the post that went to Elena Kagan, with 'Rat insiders saying he should be appointed to replace a conservative judge.

Others think Democrats want Obama to name the first Asian justice and will go for Goodwin H. Liu, currently on the CA state SCOTUS and shot down from the Federal courts. In his writings, he stated that the Constitution guarantees people the right to welfare, among other things.

It'll be bad, but we don't know how bad. Only time will tell.

Strongly agree. While it is fair game to criticize the man and his opinions and beliefs in this thread, give your reasons in a way that doesn't exalt in his death. He's not Osama Bin Laden.

Maybe Clinton will drop out of the POTUS race and go for this appointment. That would be scary.

This is bad. This is really bad.

Even if he died at the beginning of Obama's term it wouldn't be as bad, because SJW'ism wasn't as influential even then, but in his second term he's embraced SJWism full-stop and we know who's holding the reigns of culture.

This is going to be the truest test that the Republican Party has faced in decades.

Are they going to roll over or are they actually going to do their damn job and block any SJW-inclined ultra "progressive" nominee?

What fucking bad luck.
