Here's my drink of choice as of late:

If you like Black I recommend Highland Park 12 year single malt.

It's similar to Black in some ways but some argue it's better and only slightly more expensive. Personal preference wise it does taste better than Black to me but Black is still a pretty solid all occasions whiskey.

God's one true chosen liquor, Eastern European moonshine and the slav's curse on the world.

I'm not a rum guy (I'll take a bourbon or Bushmills neat) but my buddy went to visit family in Trinidad and brought me back a bottle of this; verrry nice...[Image: oeybcjhw_vsuqzwmosjnq2kl-w006yuge4nnogztoas.jpeg]

Was gifted a bottle of this today.
Haven't opened it yet. I have no idea what to expect.

I also got to taste a glass of Larceny Bourbon. It's not the best bourbon around but it's one of the best values. Buffalo Trace is probably the only <$20 bourbon that beats it.

I'd swear there's a spirits thread.

Anyway I've got a selection of about 5 different mezcals, 3 of which can only be bought in Oaxaca.

I've got a very nice bottle of Rakia from Bulgaria. Smooth as silk...I don't want it to end.

Today I just picked up a bottle of Lustau Sherry. Technically not a spirit but a fortified wine. I love good quality sherry, that with a few shavings of Iberico ham and I'm set for the night.

Never tried it though. Opening it up Nov-8 2016 in celebratory style, God willing. I expect it to taste like victory.

Fireball is trashy and I'd never drink it at home alone but it is great for parties and bar nights. Young chicks love Fireball!

I like to keep things simple most of the time, my go to bourbon for the past couple of years has been this, neat:

As a young gun, this used to be my staple:

It's absolute filth, but it's got us pretty sloppy.
Not to mention it cost about R65 ($4 USD).

Now that I'm a few years older and wiser, this is my poison:

Jack Daniels, Lime and Water.
or Jack on the rocks.

Or

Captain Morgan Spiced Rum + Coke

Or Vodka... Neat.

You can get buffalo trace for under $20?!? Man I got a bottle of that over new years on special for $50 here in Australia.

I can't stomach the shit straight anymore. However, drop a shot in a pint of cider, and we'll talk.

Not on here much anymore. I'm either out on 2 wheels or trying to kill something.

My go-to is a vodka double on the rocks. I'm a fan of Tito's--it has midrange cost but tastes better than Grey Goose (as long as you like your vodka slightly smoky).

At the bar my fallback when they don't have Tito's used to be Sky or Svedka, but now that I'm getting less tolerant of hangovers I use Goose as the #2. I'm not a big fan of the taste though there's a big difference in how I feel the next day between either Tito's or Goose and the cheaper vodkas.

At my home stash I always keep a bottle of Tito's for my use, a bottle of Goose for girls who think it's classy, and a rum and whisky around for people who go in for those. Right now the whisky is Buffalo Trace, which I'd take any day over Jack's.

Honorable mention: when I want to look like I'm still drinking but need to keep the buzz from progressing into drunken oblivion I start ordering soda & bitters. It looks like a fancy drink yet has little alcohol and serves as a good pacer. I got the idea on the forum actually, though I can't remember who recommended it or I'd credit them. Bartenders consider it an "insider drink" as it's something they use for the same reason, and girls often don't recognize it and ask what it is, so it's led to some good chats as well.

If it's a bourbon you're after, I'd highly recommend Woodford Reserve. One of my labourers bought be a bottle for Christmas, it's very nice indeed.

I usually can't stand bourbon, but had some Woodford at a friend's party and ended up enjoying it. I'll pick up a bottle and add it to the collection.

Yep, around here it's the best buy of any bourbon I know of, unless you think Knob Creek is worth the extra $8.

I've never gotten the fuss about Goose. I've had $10 bottles that I thought were better.

If you like Jack you should try George Dickel. It's the other Tennessee whiskey and in my opinion it's a lot better than Jack Daniels.

Vodka - I did a blind taste test one time of vodkas, had the bartender line up shots and not tell me which one was which. Between Grey Goose, Smirnoff, Ciroc, and Belevedere, the Belevedere was hands down the best. Thats been my go to vodka now if I am ever buying a bottle. Grey Goose btw was terrible. The Smirnoff was actually miles ahead of it.

Tequila - 1800 Tequila is legit. One of the only tequilas that I like to drink neat.

Whiskey - Bourbon. I can drink Jim Beam all day. Jack Daniels as well but I normally just choose to save money and opt for the Jim Beam, since this is what I drink when I'm trying to get DRUNK.

Rum - Have you guys ever heard of Mount Gay? This stuff is nicee but damn I really wish it had a different name. Fucking emasculating buying it haha.

My go-to is Smirnoff 100 proof mixed with white cherry Gatorade.

[Image: 820100.jpg] [Image: 161150_1.jpg]

Might seem a little goofy, but I'm in college.

Most students go with cheap vodka. Smirnoff costs a bit more but is much better quality, and the 100 proof means it's 50% alc/vol versus 35%-38% like most others.

Gatorade because it keeps you hydrated throughout the night. And there's no fizz like sodas. (I don't like fizz.)

White cherry because it's the only gatorade flavor that doesn't color your tongue or face. Women aren't interested in men with a green tongue.

Throw it in a reusable water bottle that I've designated specifically for alcoholic drinks, so it's easy to pack up and take party-to-party.

The other alternative is beer, which most students drink. "I'M TOTALLY GONNA DOWN THIS 24 PACK ALL BY MYSELF THIS WEEKEND, FUCK YEAH!" That's cool and all, but
  • 1.) Vodka gets you drunk faster.
  • 2.) Vodka gets you drunk with less liquid, so less peeing.
  • 3.) Drinking a 24 pack-a-weekend is awful for you.
Would definitely recommend Smirnoff 100 proof. It gets you there fast.

Actually this might come across as self promotion but I did write a piece on the topic of booze and ladies, although not reserved exclusively to liquor, that is...
-----------------------------------

Whisky was the ugly girl everybody wanted to fuck.
How couldnt you fall for her?
A rowdy lass not to shy away she was. Certainly gave you a ride for your buck.
When you're alone in the studio, you call her over and turn up the volume on a Hank Williams vynil.

Tequila was that annoying ethnic chick in your class you couldnt help but to secretly fancy.
The chance came unexpectedly, several years later.
The assholes you call friends didnt invite for Taco Bell Tuesday that week and you wandered into the local biker bar. Much to your surprise, she happened to be there and came up to you when you finnished a game of pool.
One smooch became two became six and you were down on the floor getting it.
Now when your mates go for mexican on Tuesdays at that fancy spot out of town, you still wander into that same bar to have your way with her.
The aftermaths are always gruesome but the hangover lets you ignore whatever bullshit your boss is saying on his daily berate run.

You're not sure if Vodka was an exchange student,a refugee or a communist spy.
But what red blooded man could ignore that seemingly colorless body, those cheeks, the crassness and that strange rough yet extremely hot accent?!
To your surprise she took you on your proposal and boy!Her love was like kissing a battering ram sitting in a molotov jacuzzi.
When it was all said and done, you clutched her exhausted body and with tears in your eyes, sung the Internationale...

I should add, it's also a wheated bourbon so its very drinkable and a lot more approachable than some more high end bottles. That plus the low price make it a pretty good entry level bourbon. Solid B+.
