I've been wearing cowboy boots for over 4+ years now. I like them. Make me taller. Feel good on my feet. Look good. They can get hot during the summer and some people hate on them pretty hard but usually they're faggots.
My boots are just dark brown throughout with a regular pointy toe. Nothing fancy. Snake skin ones are pretty crazy though.
I have a cowboy hat but only wear it if i'm going to a specific wester event such as the Calgary Stampeed.

Something I know a little bit about. To preface I worked ranches through high school and a couple years after until I joined the Army.
Boot wise I like the tall buckaroo style Tony Llamas. Good leather and replaceable heel. Spending $250 on boots I want to have them for awhile. If you wear away the outside of the heel and the boots roll over it will seriously mess your knees up.
Hat style is regional. I have always liked the Great Basin/Buckaroo style but we trained horses in that style as well so it crossed over. If you're not going to live under it then a low X count will be fine. The higher the X the finer the felt is and the higher the price. If it's going to be hot for most of the year check out palm leaf hats. Way more comfortable than those plasticized straw jobs and I think they look better.
Shirts and jeans. I like pearl snaps, just one of those timeless classics. I wear wrangler 13mwz's. Once they wear in and fade they look good, especially if you squat. I know when I have been doing well in the gym when the middle age women grab my bitt in the bar.
Dress more like the guys in the picture 3 from the bottom with the white shirts and tan vests and less like the clown in the bottom picture.

Midwest, I'll save you a lot of trouble and say.... Do not dress like that. Seriously man, you're better than that.
On the reals, dress like that and you'll be harassed by the popo mistaking you for a mojado. Not to mention you like gringas, and they do not look fondly at that attire.

All that cowboy gear looks ideal if you're planning a "Brokeback" themed Cis-hetero-hetero man marriage!

Ahhh come on! I heard you cats down in Texas are hitting the bars dressed in cowboy/Mexican gear and spitting game at the gringas
.
That was funny, I almost spilled my juice over that one.

man, dress like a normal, cool guy. Those boots you posted are horrible.
What about these? These would be excellent for pea-cocking
I just checked, they're expensive, almost $300 bucks for a pair of the crocodile ones.

At most I would consider a hat. I've been in Texas for a long time and CattleRustler is spot on about the mojado look.

Are you trying to look more Texan or more Sinaloa style?

I didn't even know there was a Sinaloa style. I like going to those coleaderos and things like that.

I bought an old pair of boots at a vintage store. It was one of the best purchases I've ever made. They make me taller and it helps my posture, I don't wear any other western themed attire. I like the contrast when I throw on a henley and some boots.
