So it seems like the tribal meeting idea hasn't really taken off based on the structure I gave. I'll unsticky this thread in the meanwhile.

Organized meet ups sound like a good idea though. I'd be up for starting them in Atlanta if any other Atlantans would like to join in.

@ Roosh,
How about creating a "forum directory" of sorts? Right now, there is absolutely no way to tell who is in your city or nearby aside from posting in the meetup forum and hoping people see and reply to your thread.
I think it would be a great feature to have a searchable database of members and their locations. So if I'm in LA, I could type in "Los Angeles," hit search and see which other RVFers are there that I can hit up via PM. This would come in especially handy for times when you're taking an extended trip and hitting up multiple cities and want to meet up with any members who may live there.
Of course, many people are justly concerned with privacy and may not want to share their location, so this would work on a purely opt-in basis. I don't know what kind of functionality the forum software gives you by default, but this kind of application would be trivial to write, even for a newb like myself. Basically just a single database table to store usernames and locations, 2 or 3 HTML forms, and some queries to input your username, set your location, and search for other usernames in a location.

^I agree with Fast Eddie. I'm not a web dev expert, but something like a Google Maps interface would work fine in my opinion. You click on a city you are about to visit and find out who is available there and agrees to post their location and specific dates when they are visiting. No private information will be disclosed, just the forum nicknames. Then you can PM the forum members.

Our 4th meetup is scheduled for 2 weeks from today/tomorrow. Originally I had planned to host once per month, but the interest in having them more frequently was there so we have been doing them twice a week for the past 3 meetups. So far we have had over a dozen guys show and interest is continuing to grow. Hope the guys in the other major cities can get things moving.

Sounds like a great idea, I see a lot of Canadian guys on here if someone in Toronto were to start one I'd be there.

I'd be interested in a meetup close to the greater Vancouver area. If I have to start one I probably will, though I'm not exactly the ideal guy for the job.

I've considered making the drive into DC again, but I'm not doing it in the winter.
I see earlier in the thread a guy in Atlanta, that's also 6 hours of driving but in the other direction. I'm in the southeastern US, I've had to drive for hours to reach events for as I've had a license, I'm in the middle of nowhere so 100 miles on a Saturday night does not bother me, but 6 hours in the car is a bit much.
If there's interest in Raleigh or Charlotte then I'd like to help make it happen.
