I've got the traffic - How do I monetize it?
04-03-2015, 06:01 PM
Last month, 2 students in my town died in their dorm. One of the girls who died was fairly popular so I knew people would be googling her name to find more info.
I put up a 'memorial' website compiling info from the news reports, along with pictures I grabbed off Social Networking sites.
After a week, my website is #1 in Google's rank. I'm averaging about 100 hits a day, which I know isn't going to earn me boatloads of cash, but it's a start.
How would you monetize this type of site?

you could try selling generic "Love your friends " t-shirts with maybe a small line about the deceased . there won't be enough people into a non-celebrity for pure personalization, will there?
It's going to die off quick unless you keep updating obviously.

If you were to attempt to monetize this to cover operating costs and donate all proceeds to the family or drinking/drug awareness then thats fine.
Attempting to monetize the death of two people in order to line your pockets is beyond sleazy. You are trying to make money off the intense sorrow of others. Essentially your a parasite.
The worst thing is that I fear you are a representative of the up and coming general population. The ability to think outside of your owner personal desires is becoming an increasingly lacking ability.
