How to Dress in a Tropical Environment?
03-26-2015, 08:13 PM
Speaking from having lived in Kendall, Miami Florida for 13 years i'd check out Tommy Bahama. I usually like to rock tropical floral type shirts and polo's to match the tropical environment which tends to get a lot of compliments from chicks in the south beach area. As for shorts I try to stay away from the cargo shorts either rock board shorts or plaid depends on what I plan on doing for the day/night. I prefer slides like the Adidas ones over flip flops cause they don't violate your toes.

As per advice, since I'm really trying to change my life and getting myself together. I know this was a tropical weather thread but I just started off buying a few:
TOP
-v-neck plain t-shirts (black, smoke gray, gray, white, blue, red)
- button down shirts (white, light blue, black/gray, gingham/madras patterns)
BOTTOM
-2 pair of slim fit jeans (levi's 511, Guess)
-light weight pants (chinos, thin casual/dress pants)
-shorts (white/gray stripes, tan colored)
SHOES
- Hush puppies
- Boat shoes
- Nice leather sandals

In Belize we wear slides. Cargo shorts and tank tops. Joggers are blowing up too.
Personally, chinos for me all day everyday. Express has some photographer pants that are good to wear also.
The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

Bangkok is the hottest city on earth, and I still go out every day in pants and shirt and not manage to die. I only go out in shorts if I'm going to A) Play sports B) Doing a quick run to the 7/11 C) Swimming
Step 1 is a good shower lol
Step 2 Talcum Powder - this will prevent excessive sweating and stop you form chafing, also makes your skin smooth
Step 3 Anti-Perspirant Deodorant
Pants wise, go for something like Khakis or Canvas pants, you need to let your clothes breathe
Shirt - I go for light cotton
Socks and shoes - whatever you like
On top of this, avoid over exertion and the ensuing sweat by keeping your movements paced. Avoid walking long distances (especially if taxis are cheap ala BKK) and you willl be fine.

I grew up in the caribbean, it is hot as hell all the time. People are always covered up completely when out in the sun, long sleeve shirts, pants and shoes.
When the sun hits your skin at that temperature you dont feel like its hot you feel like its burning, so better to be covered up and it actually feels cooler even if you sweat a bit
People where I am from also value pale skin as a sign of attractiveness since everyone is already tanned as fuck

How do you guys who wear t-shirts and button ups in hot, humid weather avoid excessively sweating?
I would like to dress up in tropical climates, but that slim fit shirt ain't going to stay dry for long, and I guarantee a man in shorts and a muscle top is going to look a whole lot better than a man drenched in his own sweat with a stained shirt.
