How to get flights from California or U.S. to Europe for $ 200

UA is selling fares to Japan from AA hubs from $650, although this won't last more than a day at best.

This is a bit out of the ordinary, but do you have anything from ATL to Japan? i can go a good bit above $200 for this and any time before August is good.

The software that I use has all the European airports and all the European airlines, all the United States airports and all the United States airlines,
and only some destinations and airlines from South America,
Africa and Asia, not all the destinations.

From what I can see, flights to Japan are expensive, above $ 350.

I really appreciate the service. And personally I do not have the time to try and find a comparable price.

Time is my greatest asset and I appreciate it.

Rep point from me for trying to help people. All in the spirit of RVF.

Are there restrictions on these low fares and excessive fees like was mentioned earlier? Such as baggage and seat fees?

Also are these flights upgrade able such as to business class without the price going through the roof? Some of the flights are really long.

Thanks man.

There are no seat fees. You get full normal regular seat included
in the price, one or two cabin luggages, and all the airport taxes included
in the price.

Of course if you want to take 10 luggages with you, for some of them
it will cost extra, as with any airline in the world.

Once again, I underline: most people are used to paying 2 - 10 times more
for each flight because of the very large profit margins mark-ups
that travel agencies and online travel reservation websites have.

It´s all business for them, this is how they afford to be known by everyone,
and to have multi million dollars business profit every month.
This is how the world works.

Most of us have been anchored and brainwashed that it is normal
to pay over $ 1000 for a trip by plane to Europe.

It´s the same with any product in this world. You can buy it
from your local shop near you, for let´s say $ 150.

Or you can buy it directly from the producer (factory) for $ 20.

Norwegian charges a seat selection fee. If you want to confirm not being stuck in a middle seat it will cost you about 50$ per trans-Atlantic flight.

Norwegian charges for the first checked bag, 58$ Each way.

Many airlines allow 2 free checked bags on international itineraries, and most allow 1. The airlines that have these remarkable fares do not allow a free checked bag.

Just to mention it, the fares from Europe on full-service carriers from Oslo and other Scandinavian cities are pretty much the same price. Sometimes the airlines will also match these fares from the USA as well at a slight premium, but usually only to Oslo.

I'll put on my helpful hat and add that a site like kayak.com searches all the fares from online agencies like expedia and travelocity as well as the airlines fares. The profit margins for the online travel agencies is only a few dollars, they make their money on hotels. This link provides a somewhat simple breakdown of how it works. http://www.quora.com/How-much-does-an-OT...ket-booked

Use a site like kayak to find which airline has the cheapest fare and then go to that airlines website to buy the fare. If you can't find the same flights then use what you found on kayak, but 95% of the airlines website will have the best fare, plus there's no middle man website.

Also anyone flying from SFO, LAX, JFK, or Orlando to Europe Norwegian is almost always going to have the cheapest (the same way Spirit always has the cheapest fares in the US). Just go straight to Norwegian's site and search their fare calendar, but like elcidcampeador said just make sure you don't check a bag or pick a seat.

Is this some like hardcore stand-by type flights? I just purchased a stand-by flight round trip from Daytona Beach, FL to London and back, for $750. These prices sound ridiculously cheap. Is it a sure seat type thing, or a lucky stand-by seat?

Very good question.

Because of the large budgets of advertising that "travel" websites
and travel agencies have, the majority of people have been brainwashed
(anchored) to believe that $ 1500 price is a normal price for a quality flight
Florida - London.

You can read more about the effect of anchoring and its
huge importance in marketing:

Awesome, thanks for your response man. I will definitely PM you soon! This could have saved me a lot of money. Since I have a buddy pass deal with United Airlines and Delta, I thought I already had good deals.. which they actually still are. Heck $750 round trip from Florida to London and back is not bad at all. But then I had to book a flight for $200 from London to Budapest. On the return, I have to do that again.

+1 from me for trying to help everyone out, but more importantly for exposing how much travel agencies and aggregators mark up airfares.

Florida to London roundtrip with all the airport taxes included
can be for just $ 300 for many dates throughout 2015,

and London to Budapest roundtrip can be just $ 70 as well :

While online search results will recommend you prices of $ 900 - $ 1400
for flight Los Angeles to Budapest as being normal,

the truth is that you can get those exact same flights
for under $ 200.

Example of the second flight (connection) from London to Budapest price:

Currently the 10 cheapest flights from California to Europe are around $ 160.

Yes, July and August are the most expensive months to fly
because these are the summer holidays months when
a majority of people take their times off their jobs
and go travelling around.

The lowest prices in the month of August you will get
on one of these dates:
19, 20, 22, 25, 26, 27 and 29 August you have flights
from London to Los Angeles, California and San Francisco, California
for $ 230 - $ 255
(the prices that I can see now)

( By the way, as anyone can see, the online searches with the tools
that were advertised by others on this thread, are giving prices
almost 10 times more expensive for this exact same flight: )

The Kayak website, as anyone can see, has only
a limited number of airlines, and the prices
are very high when compared to the prices that you can find directly
on the websites of major airlines, without any middleman.

Of course Kayak have their own PR department which claims otherwise.

Kayak searches all major airlines except Southwest. Heres a random date in Dec. Kayak shows Expedia to have the cheapest fare, which is surprising.

And aSimpNamedBrokeback troll [Image: troll.gif] is back again,
even after getting suspended for his hateful and insulting posts on this thread,
he simply cannot stay away from this thread,
he can´t help himself... there are thousands of threads on RVF,
but aSimpNamedBrokeback troll [Image: troll.gif] can´t start his own thread,
he has to advertise Kayak over and over again in this thread... :|

I knew it some of these prices are blown out of proportion, it's all about the money. Our local tv station did a report on this. They took a group of 5 people who all payed with different agencies or online and the differences where huge.

The cheapest was around 250 and the most expensive was around 500, I always try and avoid the middleman and go direct.

I am having a look at this thread for a while now. I am clearly not a beginner in the world of flight booking. In the last few years I sat mostly in First Class Cabins when I was traveling international.

What I dislike about this thread is the fact that you make very bold claims and claim to be the only source for cheap flights. Every RVF member will be able to find the same prices when he puts in the work. It might take him longer, due to lack of experience, however he will be able to find it when he is willing to learn it.

So I would kindly ask you, can you not teach the RFV crew to find the cheap flights by themselves and not claim that you do some magic here?

I will begin and share some knowledge I have:

http://www.kayak.com
This is still one of the best search engines on the market. The site has also a "flexible dates" option, below the search button, which will help you to find cheaper flights when you are flexible.

When you have not decided where you want to go and you are flexible with your dates, try http://www.kayak.com/explore/. The pages allows you to browse the map for finding a cheap location worldwide.

On routes with low cost airlines, kayak might not be your best option and it always makes sense, for all airlines, to check on the airline homepage directly.

The airlines WOW and Norwegian have run nice promotions in the last few months. If someone is interested in traveling cheap, he should check their websites directly. In addition, I recommend that you read the following blog posts: WOW! How Low Cost Carriers are Changing the European Travel Itinerary Experience and July 2015 USA Europe travel on low cost airlines.

Within Europe, don't forget Ryanair and Easyjet and check with them directly.

In addition http://www.skyscanner.com is a good search engine for finding cheap flights.

I would like to provide all RVF readers with additional links which can be useful for finding cheap fares, not only for US - Europe. For deals worldwide:

The Flight Scene – Airfare Deals

The Flight Deal

FlyerTalk - Mileage Run Deals

obviously because the margins of profits of travel websites
and travel agencies are H U G E

from the $ 1500 price that you usually pay for a flight Florida - London
actually less than 20% goes to the airline.

Please show a source for this information. This goes against the common industry knowledge that travel search engines do only earn a very small commission for every booked flight. Sites like booking.com and so on earn their money with hotel bookings, not with flight bookings. Everyone interest in the subject should read up on this thread: http://www.quora.com/How-much-does-an-OT...ket-booked

It is honorable when you help other members to find a cheap flight, however it is wrong to present this as a totally secret knowledge.
