I see nothing wrong with having a good variety but a collection is a waste of money

I don't think it has any relation to alpha or beta. I do however think it's stupid if you collect them and don't wear them.

Just because you frown on something doesn't make it beta, beta is not the universal insult for everything lame.

Why? Is jay lenos car collection herbish?
Is Jay Leno very successful and a man who I have a great deal of respect for? Yes. Is he also kind of a herb? I think so.

The thing I don't understand with sneaker collectors is how they go for these new special editions, which aren't really rare, but just by intent made in small numbers. It's a manufactered rareness that doesn't have any story to it.

I can easily understand those who collect stuff with a story, lets be real, a lot of people also collect vinyl records and it can be equally obsessive or it can be cool.

I also think it's stupid to spend a lot of money collecting stuff if you aren't financially well off. Put that money to work instead.

There are some collections that can make you shit-tons of money, but sneakers likely won't. There have been fortunes created by men who collected antiques or paintings by promising new artists.

The classic car collection by Jay Leno makes much more sense economically, since most of them can be resold at higher value.

If you can hardly afford it, then better put your money in a hobby which has the likelihood of a lasting collector value - not just some fad that can be over within 2 years. Sneakers can be such a fad.

I collect unique, usually modern or abstract art from the countries I travel to. Here's the line:

"How about we go back to my place, have a glass of wine and check out some of my art from BrazilFranceVietnamChinaThailandSpain."

How many bottles of 17 year old scotch am I allowed to have before it stops being a good variety and becomes a collection?

If I have crossed the line into a money wasting collection, will I have to pour out the offending surplus bottles of scotch?

Is my Japanese whiskey considered part of the same collection as my scotch? Does Jack Daniels get lumped in too?

I'm hoping that you can help me be less of a herb by defining these intricacies.

I used to collect sneakers when i was in high school.
I am trying to get rid of it but its taking forever since people are not willing to pay fair price i think.
After having 15 years. I made $20 $50 $100 or $200 per shoes. For some shoes, i have to lose money. I feel really stupid about this. I shouldve bought gold.
Back then, there was hardly any limited edition. Now they release Limited edition all the time.

If you wear nice jordans, you might get some attention from black kids or other thug type kids (When i wore jordan i grey silver in high school, black kids were looking at it while white kids didnt care)
But im too old to care about those attentions anymore.
Certain type of people like those sneakers, i usually dont find them cool to hang out. (Only rappers brag about their shoe collection on tv. Not hollywood star everybody likes)

If you laugh about some guys comic book collection, he will say 'you know how much that thing cost'. Its his money and argument will go nowhere.
Do whatever you like.
Generally collecting sneakers is not considered cool for grown man.
Having small wine fridge filled with $20 bottle wines (total cost $500) is perceived as a lot classier than displaying few jordans ($$$$) on bookshelf, Obviously

Of course collecting sneakers is stupid and indefensible. But so are a lot of things men like to do.

There's nothing inherently beta about collecting sneakers, it's more about your attitude toward it.

Are you somehwat ashamed about collecting sneakers? Do you feel the need to defend and justify your hobby to others? Do you collect sneakers because you think it makes you cool? Do you post pictures of your sneakers online to make other "sneakerheads" jealous? Beta.

Do you genuinely not care what others think about your collection? Do you collect sneakers because you really just like sneakers? Not beta.

By the way, this principle applies to basically everything.

Never owned a pair of Jordan's and laugh at people who spend money on this crap.

People might think I'm crazy for spending $500 on English made dress shoes.

What if...

You NEED a sneaker collection.

Let's say you and your crew are going to break dance battle some fools and everyone is wearing burgundy jumpsuits and shell toe Adidas. Are you going to be the only guy wearing shell toes with blue stripes? What if it's green and suede pumas are what's gonna happen that day do you show up with classic blues? You'd look like a fool.

A good friend of mine used to collect comics. I don't know if he still does or not. He made some decent coin selling some of his collection, though.

Some of those comics have some amazing artists.

I view it like any other addiction namely gambling or porn - Too much of anything and you can become disillusioned and it becomes ritualistic in nature

That being said, a man's shoe game should always be versatile enough for any occasion. Be that a night out at the local watering hole with the fellas or escorting Miss Hawaii USA to the fucking Mayor's Ball

Personally, I like to have options

If I were to ever have a collection, it'd be watches or ties.

That said, I wouldn't classify collecting sneakers as beta, though it's not really my kind of thing. I guess I understand it, but.....

FUCK NO it's not beta.

Especially if you hustle them.

I focused on Nike's SB (Skateboarding Line). I have an inside connection with a reseller where I'll get first dibs, before they release to the public.

Quickstrikes, Hyperstrikes, General Releases.

Think of it as a stock, buy low, sell HIGH. Yes, you might have sit on some shoes for awhile, but guess what ? You do the same stock.

If you can grab shoes at MSRP, you can flip them for 2x or more.

I don't ever wait in retarded lines, I'll buy a whole run of shoes the reseller has, sometimes at a discount.

Get an ebay, paypal, and craigslist account and you're golden. Hell even put them on consignment. (Fire and forget)

It's stupid how much people would pay for shoes.

These were MSRP at for around $200, now being sold at $1100+

http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/11134220028...=82&chn=ps

I sold my collection years ago, but I'm always willing to make cool 100's if the opportunity presents itself.

Being broke as fuck and buying sneakers is retarded, but if you've got disposable income and collect thinks. Have fucking at it, it's your money, do what you want with it.

Some men collect knives, guns, booze, others collect shoes, comics, trading cars.

Your situation is different since you are doing it as business.

Is it gay if I buy purses and sell them for profit? NO

By the way, that Dunk looks really gay. It's for urban thug dudes and it has teal color? I can't understand why people are paying for that much.
Maybe I am just bitter since shoes I collected can't fetch that much.
I have OG jordan i white grey in good shape. I can't even get 500 bucks out of it.
I have 20 years old, Air force high that's in gold swoosh, nobody has seen it before. can't even fetch 350 bucks out of it. Sigh....

Personally, I think it's pathetic when grown men collect sneakers but would like to hear other opinions/

The only clear BETA sign is around women. That is by definition what makes you Beta. You can be the hardest motherfucking soldier around men doing 2 tours in Iraq and standing on a mountain of skulls - but if you return home and live under the frame of your wife, you are by definition only a Greater Beta.

I don't collect and would never do, but if you are into it - who cares? I have heard of guys having teddies in their bedroom - I think Tuthmosis here - and they use it while Gaming girls with brutal effectiveness.

You have to realize that if you are Alpha in frame and behavior, then you can do plenty of Beta stuff, that is endearing to women and there are no absolutes here.

On the other hand - if your frame is Beta - no Alpha accessories and "Alpha" car or apartment will box you out of that hole.

Personally I find collecting pussy & porn pics way more interesting. I personally met a guy who made instant pics of the girls he fucked and put them up over his bed. Any girl that he banged saw those pics when she entered his bedroom. Strangely enough it did not deter them - maybe he used it as a pre-selection tool. "Wow - that girl is beautiful - I am honored!"

Gotta think of something like this carousel rider:

^That's one disturbing pic. Is it that a legit deal/ real situation or just an internet joke?

It's called the "Tiffany's" for a reason, every basic bitches jewelry of choice. Alot of the SB line comes in bright colors and weird patterns.

SB's have alot of hype with the youth, older guys get the jordans etc.

It's a Norwegian girl who collects them - she has almost 2000 used condoms - men send her the stuff. But I think some part are coming from her personal fucking - she is also single because of her hobby - the smell of used rubber and sperm is certainly not great.

Description below is translated with google translate.

Quote:Quote:

Tonje (27) from Harstad is not like other people. It began in 2010 when her ex-boyfriend came home with a pack of condoms. There was something about the smell, says Tonje, who believe that rubber smell from condoms is the best smell in the world.

After we finished sex, I asked him if I could get the condom from him. He then replied if I was nasty, I said why I'm nasty then?

It is also one of the reasons why Tonje today are single.

I did keep it, but throughout our relationship hit rock bottom because of my fetish for used condoms.

I remember I had a party at home. Some friends of mine had drunk some alcohol, so they ended up in my bedroom. That made me happy.
I went in to my bedroom for a little while and asked if they used a condom. They did, so I said they could just put the condom on my nightstand, saying I could throw them away for them. But they didn't listen.

My boyfriend broke up with me a week after the party.

I get more and more condoms all the time. It is the best feeling in the world. I feel so happy when I go to the mailbox. People were sending used condoms to me. It's like Christmas every day for me.

Tonje says that sometimes she can acquire 20 used condoms in a day. Sometimes she pay up to KR 500,- ($77) for a used condom. She also says that she pay an extra KR 100,- ($15) if they send a picture of themselves.

I do not care what others think, some like cars and sports, I like to collect used condoms. Everyone have their own hobby.

Tonje had many friends, but her weird collecting craze has created strong reactions. Most of her friends have chosen and denounce her as long as she is doing what she does.

When I go out on the street, I am known as condom-Tonje, it's not very nice. I am a perfectly normal human like everyone else.

When Famez ask her a question where she obtain condoms elsewhere besides friends and people at the party, she said that the family are supportive.

My father has many friends who send used condoms to me in envelopes. Otherwise, I have a lot of sex myself, with people I do not know.

So far Tonje have 1,921 condoms throughout her apartment, hanging on the wall in any room.

"One day I'm going to clear 10,000, that I look forward to."

Famez Thanks for the interview and wish her continued success.

If you want to earn some money, you can send mail to Tonje. [email protected]
