Don't let anyone fool you, Colombia is a dangerous third world country but with proper precautions, you can mitigate the risks. Many people come down here for a couple of weeks or even a few months (my self included) and don't have any negative experiences and deem it to be "safe" but I think that the longer you stay in a place like this, the more likely you'll have a sketchy experience. I met a guy last week who was stabbed three times at the free outdoor concert Hip Hop El Parque in Parque Bolivar, he had a collapsed lung after a group of guys jumped him and he fought them off. I also traded war stories with a few fellow RVF members and they weren't pretty; myself I've been drugged and relieved of the contents of my wallet by two whores in Medellin and last week after exiting my hotel in Armenia, I saw a guy stab another fella in the shoulder about 10M in front of me. I've heard crazy stories of guys getting drugged and waking up three days later missing everything, guys witnessing brutal murders, random muggings, etc. Two years ago a US DEA agent was the victim of a paseo milenario or express robbery, he fought back and was stabbed in the leg, he ran half a block then bled to death in a bush. Violence isn't rare in Colombia but its still a country I love and despite the higher odds of crazy shit happening, I will continue coming down here.
Do you know how you got drugged? Did they slip something in your drink? If so how did they do it? Bring you a drink or you left yours unattended? or was it that devils whatever where they can just blow it in your face? OR some other way?
I'm pretty sure it was that scopolamine (devil's breath) stuff that they just blow in your face. Long story short, I met these girls, had a couple drinks then suggested we bounce but told them I had to run to the ATM first (big mistake), they said
"okay, we'll call our taxi friend who is nearby" (warning sign). I got in the cab, then don't remember much, I woke up the next day short of 300K pesos ($150), there was no violence and they didn't take my debit card or wallet, it could have been a lot fucking worse. Actually, looking back I'm kind of glad it happened that way as I was getting to cocky and trusting of people I didn't know, it was one of those times where
if it seems too easy, it probably is!

Scotian or Linux or whomever: Is Medellin safer than Cali?
Medellin is safer overall, but each city has its good and bad parts.
This could be debated, there's probably more violence against gringos in Medellin but that would be because there's so many more gringos in that city. Cali for sure has some very ghetto barrios, such as Agua Blanca, which are no-go zones even for the police and the murder rate is higher but I don't really feel any more threatened in Cali compared to Medellin.

@scotian & @LINUX
How much of success that LINUX had would you contribute to blonde hair and blue eyes?
Obviously he is white, from a developed nation, and has the physique down.
When I hear Colombia I think - speak Spanish, be able to dance, have time to go on multiple dates, accept flakes and very late girls. So just wondering if LINUX went in with black hair and dark brown eyes how much that could change things... I am guessing not much so if you have a solid online profile and game you can overcome all the main hurdles which is pretty great.
I have green / hazel eyes depending on who you ask. Is the blue eye contact thing really worth considering? I don't think they are expensive and can look pretty real.
I think Linux's strength is his physique; it's very rare to find a guy with a build like him here. But, like with anything girl related, it depends. I've met guys with black hair and brown/black eyes here that are doing very well.
I have blue eyes, but they're very dark blue. When I go out at night, nobody would know they're blue. I oftentimes will try to get a girl to notice they're blue by finding a light source and kind of gazing at it for a bit while she's observing me. It's kind of lame, but it works.
I wouldn't do contacts. Green/hazel eyes will get you points too. I've never run into a blue-eye groupie; you will need to run game no matter what.
More than anything, I'd recommend getting good at Spanish. I'd attribute at least 80% of my bangs to the fact that my Spanish is very good. I've had several girls tell me that they slept with me because I am smart/funny/different, which I wouldn't be able to convey without being conversational in Spanish.
Don't underestimate the lack of competition in Cali and all other Colombian cities. Competition there is a complete joke. The only advantage most local guys have is that they are local guys and probably aren't going anywhere.
The Calenos definitely have the dance advantage and that can be huge in Cali, depending on the club you go to if you're looking to meet other women at night, which can be tough, but if you go with a mixed group to a place such as Cafe Mi Tierra in Menga on a weekend night, you can mingle with other groups and get numbers.
As far as the blond hair and blue eyes, I would say that it will create an initial attraction, but its up to the guy to capitalize on it, as Linux mentioned, he didn't feel it gave him an advantage, but I can't imagine it hurts. Myself I can pass for a Colombian, well maybe a Paisa as I"m short and have dark hair, so walking down the street I don't get as many looks from girls as I see guys like Linux getting when we're walking down the street. That being said, Linux has tight game and is persistent as hell and he put in the effort before arriving to get the dates and numbers that he did, I was quite impressed with what I saw. Although he didn't speak much Spanish, his body language was strong (very touchy and Colombianas like that), he's in great shape and he dresses very sharp, he had decent logistics too which helps a lot.
Linux, I'm actually surprised that you don't like Medellin at all and are considering leaving, I'm not a big fan of the Paisas myself, they're probably my least favourite in the country for attitudes, but I like the city itself and after having just spent the past seven weeks in Cali, I think I prefer Medellin.
