For all you Obama haters, you can blame him for moving the wedding, but apparently all parties who reserve a location at this golf course know that if the president is in town that they may be moved. Apparently, according to the bride the location they were moved to was even better.

I am posting because of the fact that she is a West Point grad, as is her husband, and she has no skinny friends, well at least not in the wedding party. I thought the military was about staying in shape. Just ranting and rambling here. I am just shocked how fat they are, why didn't they go for sleeved dresses and longer skirts?

Hopefully, the dude was strong enough to carry her into the hotel room.

As much as I dislike the president, if you're president you're still the president and if some you want to use a property for business then you can move whoever's in your way because, well, you're the president.

I heard he did call the couple after the fact and wished them a happy marriage and they were enthralled, which is a nice gesture.

You'd be surprised at how many fat asses are in the military now. I thought it was just the chair force being that they are the most civilian like (I contemplated joining at one point) but even other branches have people who are clearly out of shape.

Also having your wedding moved in exchange for a personal call from POTUS is a deal many people would take.

I think Obama has now spent more time on golf courses than actually working in his office.

According to sources close to the president, Bush barely had time to rest during the four-hour visit. He first met face-to-face with several high-ranking U.S. officials, who briefed him on the situation in Washington. Bush then signed a number of documents, took a guided tour of the facilities, and in a symbolic show of support for the current administration, shook hands with the vice president.

Bush was also granted permission to sit in on an important Cabinet meeting concerning U.S. counterterrorism efforts. Those who were present said the president mostly observed, but noted that he did ask "a lot" of questions. Afterward, Bush sat behind the Oval Office desk and shuffled papers for 15 minutes while news photographers snapped photographs.

For most members of the White House staff, it was their first chance to meet the president. Many said they were "overcome" with excitement.

"When I was getting ready for work this morning, the last person I ever thought I'd see was the president of the United States," said Alexander Mistri, special assistant to the president for legislative affairs.

"I actually got to shake hands with the president," Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao said. "He seems like a very nice man in person."

While Bush made surprise trips to work in August 2004 and stopped by in July 2005 to pick up a paycheck, Monday's visit marked his first extended stay since last December.

For security reasons, the trip was shrouded in secrecy. Sources say the president was ushered out of his Crawford, TX home just before noon Monday, while his family and closest friends were under the assumption that he was sleeping in, per normal vacation protocol. Only a few officials were informed of the trip, including his chief of staff Joshua Bolten, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, and Bush's fishing buddy Dale.

Many claim the trip was staged as a "media ploy" intended to convince the public that the administration's occupation of Washington, D.C. is not a lost cause.

"President Bush wants us to believe that he is in touch with the Bush administration," political analyst Garry Wills said. "But this is too little, too late. Mr. Bush has staked his legacy on the success of the work being done in the White House, but if I were him, I'd be thinking more about an exit strategy than rallying the grunts on the ground."

Despite such criticisms, Bush's visit ended on a positive note. At 4:55 p.m. Monday, he gave a parting speech to staff, thanking them for their hard work, explaining that the future of the country rests in their hands, and promising that they would all be sent home to their families "very soon."

** I'm not a partisan, and think both parties are equally corrupt and that the two party system is merely a useful way for elites to divide and conquer and give people the illusion of democracy.

The golf course is basically an office though. That's where the real strategy & major deal negotiation happens. The office is just operations stuff.

You should've seen some of the Marine wives out in 29 Palms (shudders). Granted, I get what you're saying about West Point, but it's still the military. So don't except runway models as far as the women are concerned. And her friends are all probably from (insert small town U.S.A) and spend their Friday and Saturday nights having the locals buy them pitchers of Bud Lite. Life is good for them and they don't give a damn about their weight.

You'd be surprised. Even in my infantry unit there where some men who let themselves go. Granted deploying to Iraq in the early '00's for multiple tours will take a toll on your body, but I never thought of that as a valid excuse to become a fat body. Don't get me started on non combat units.

I know they are posing for a photo, but why do they have to make some over-acted gesture of joy and exuberance. I've noticed the bridesmaids doing it in other wedding photos recently.

Perhaps the photographer says 'OK, now look like you've just been given <insert vice of modern woman>'. I maybe a cynical old man, but what's wrong with a sincere smile or a genuine candid photo showing genuine feelings.

The guy getting married looks very apprehensive. It's possible the larger bridesmaids are already married and he is realising what he will end up with in 18 months time. Even one of his buddies is doing the fake 'wow' face.

Anon Bosch had some posts on this. It's the standard millennial female over the top fake expression, as they don't know how to be genuine. You see it all over social media in their party and big ceremony photos too.

I guarantee that anyone on this forum would score AT LEAST a 90 on the Men's PT test for the military. The girls PT test is even less than that. There are several overweight people in the military who skate by on PT due to the fact you only have to do the test twice a year.
