Sony cancels the release of "The Interview"

I actually liked Mitt Romney's idea: Sony should stream it for free online and ask everyone to voluntarily donate $5 to fight Ebola.
The fact that some theaters had physical copies of the movie means it's going to get out eventually. The question is whether Sony will get any profit and/or good will for its release.

The people blaming it on the American government or the US as a country need to realize that the hackers completely demolished Sony. They have all their payroll information, all the internal records of communications between the execs, and god knows what other secrets. I am surprised people are missing this part. I believe Sony execs are hiding behind "terrorist threats" excuse because the hackers probably have some really good (bad for the company) dirt on them. Think about it, their entire systems were compromised, information, trade secrets, future strategies/tactics, and so much corporate information was stolen. I am sure behind the scenes the hackers told them if you release this movie we will put up all this information on the web Wikileaks style. That's the real reason for the shelving of this movie, not because "the government is weak" or the execs/cinema owners are worried about terrorist attacks.
Unless the hackers have something incriminating on the company, Sony should get its shit together, bolster its online security and stream the movie for $10 per view. Hell even I would pay that and stream it. This should be used as an opportunity by Sony to bypass the middleman (theaters) and try-out a new business model. Make movies and stream them online for a modest amount. Going to the movies is not even that cheap anymore if you buy popcorn/snacks and the tickets alone are $12-$13 for regular (non-IMAX) screenings in Canada.

^I doubt they would upload their trade secrets, but so be it. This theory makes sense.

^ I meant i doubt Sony would upload their trade secrets on an online platform. If hackers got a hold of them, they would sell it whether sony pulled the Interview or not. Those things are too valuable to be kept in the same place with employee records, because not even the IT department is supposed to have access to them, and they are too valuable for the hackers not to distribute in exchange for sony pulling a movie.

I sense that there is going to be trouble coming from the release of this movie.
I don't think many people realize just how fanatical and serious the North Koreans are when it comes to the Kim family. They are venerated as virtual gods.
I'm not saying that the movie should not be released. I'm just saying that people are seriously underestimating the fanaticism of the North Koreans. They take this stuff very seriously.

North Korea does not exists in a bubble. IF North Korea internet gos down it is because China cut it off. Simple. Likely China is slapping the wrist of its rouge little brother, likely from the fact Chinese interest may have investment ties with SONY Pictures. Alibaba has $3 Billion it wants to pour into entertainment and has had close talks in partnering with Sony and Lionsgate as its chief partners. The goal is to make Chinese-English media products to be distributed globally just as how American products are.
This is China flexing its real power while the USA just sits back and talks fluff. The reality is the USA is helpless in this. Any type of cyber "retaliation" would have to route through China which isn't going to happen. The opposite is true in that China had to have seen the traffic route through from N.K. towards America. It would be dumb for China not to monitor what N.K. is doing since it has such limited channels to actually connect to internet, but China, it likley did not give a shit.

Seriously, how many people would have given two shits about this film if not for the publicity generated by this non-story?

This is a definite New World Order full-on vaudeville show being played on the masses.
First, it's declared a threat to the public. Then you have Obama saying Sony should have released it - although it's technically been deemed a public threat. You'd think the left would be trying to have it not be released, but they don't care. Kim Jong-Un isn't high on their list. SWPL's are probably looking forward to this movie more than anyone since it's going to appeal to their type of sardonic humor with lots of loud fake laughter after each punch line.
Imagine if a film was made about an immigration program that only brings in attractive foreign women - the feminists would literally hope there was some sort of an attack on men who watched it.
If anything, it shows that the left has gone all-out SJW the past few years and that relations with so-called "rogue nations" are irrelevant since they hold absolutely zero bearing on the SJW agenda. Off topic, but whatever happened to old SJW fascinations like free Tibet?

How many films have you seen that were written and/or directed by Rogen?
