Officers should be forced to wear cameras at all times to document every stop. Imagine if the cop from the ferguson case wore a camera with a mic or in this case. A lot of questions would be answered.

Even when things are recorded people can have wildly different opinions. Although I agree all cops should wear body cameras, look at last Eric Garner's case where the video showed the chokehold yet some people say the cop was innocent others said he was guilty.

Cameras are a step forward but will not resolve everything.

Ok I agree now that there is a serious problem with policing across the country. If common sense can't keep a situation from turning into a rougher situation when it wasn't necessary, then that's a serious problem.

My job takes me past the back of a small inner city Police Dept and the parking lot is all souped up SUVs and pickup trucks. Actually the first thing I thought when I saw his ride was "that must be a cop thing".

There's some videos online of cops being trained and told that they should police the neighborhoods like war-zones, so I doubt the issue is training. Just like occupied citizens get treated like sh*t by soldiers, we shouldn't be surprised when cops do the same, while having similar mindsets.

Sadly even if the cameras were tamperproof the DA would say the recording is not admissible, it's happened before.

A black high ranking detective get's thrown to the ground by several white officers.

He's with his peeps and has been drinking.

The lieutenant shows up and is even more pissed at him calling him a "disgrace".

My suspicion is that he wasn't just nicely showing his ID and explaining he was also a police officer.

This is just a matter of a bunch of egomaniacs with power colliding.

I like how he has to emphasize that the department chose to side with the "three. white. officers" to the black reporter.

As if that really needed to be said, like that's not the whole purpose of the narrative.

Makes sense now. A cop here usually can't afford an escalade like that, without sacrificing on other stuff. Housing may suck for NY and Cali guys, but you guys can get nicer cars easier it seems. We have the opposite down here.

True..but many older cops who bought before the bubble when houses went up now own 1 million dollar homes. Problem is they live in Long island and pay 15k in real estate taxes.

Something else to consider...over 50% of the NYPD are minorities and they can live in minority areas. Often they got houses at half price though the HUD program and COP NEXT DOOR program.
