You might be scratching your head at the Filipino...I've never been to Phils or eaten the food in restaurants, which I hear is awful, but I've had several Filipino girls cook for me and it's been uniformly delicious. Always a pretty distinct gap between restaurant cooking and home cooking.
My last "boss" in the US had won a James Beard award within the last five years, and I would put plenty of food that I eat here in the Phils at or above most of what his restaurant served. I say that 50% because I think Pinoy food gets a bad rap, and 50% because I think most of the food served their was extremely overpriced and overrated.
People will say Filipino food is bland or unhealthy, yet so is plenty of the food in the Southeastern US (someone recently called Pinoy food "Soul food with a SEA twist", which I'd agree with), especially to someone who didn't grow up on it. Shrimp and grits is the definition of bland unless you coat it in spices and butter.
Also, most people that come here don't actually give the food a chance or try some of the better restaurants. I got in an argument in the travel section with a guy who's evidence that Pinoy food sucked was hamburgers
I've been to spots that are on par or better than the majority of places in the US, from the food to the overall atmosphere, decor, plate presentation, etc. In terms of chains, places like Hukad and Gerry's Grill are way better than fucking Applebee's, Olive Garden, etc.
That being said, there are a lot of things I don't like about the food scene here (lack of variety is at the top of the list) and they also do a lot of the weird or Western things you harp on the rest of East Asia for. They love spaghetti, barbecue, carbonara, etc.
But the homecooking is good, and I dated a chick who had recently graduated from culinary school who used to make all kinds of delicious shit. Her omelettes blew away any of the ones I'd tried in restaurants across Charleston, that people line up down the street for. Unfortunately she was bat shit crazy
As for the cuisine I'd date a chick for, that'd be tough. I wouldn't want to eat any one kind of food every day and would prefer a girl with a well-balanced repertoire in the kitchen, but I don't think that's what the question is asking.
So I'd probably say Mexican. Again, not something I'd want to eat everyday, but Mexican and Southwest food would be my go-to if I had to choose. I don't really think it's inherently unhealthy either, if you teach the girl right. I fucking love fresh salsa and guacamole.
