10 minute walk to the nearest MRT (metro ) stop. around $3 taxi away from the major clubbing areas. But in the nearby areas there's not too much expect a huge mall.

Strip away judeo-christian ethics ingraining sex is dirty/bad & the idea we're taking advantage of these girls disintegrates. Once you've lost that ethical quandary (which it isn't outside religion) then they've no reason to play the victim, you've no reason to feel the rogue. The interaction is to their benefit.

$1033 USD per month, all bills included.

Single bed, can touch both walls stretching one arm out fully and with the elbow pointing outwards on the other.

5 bedroom flat in ex-council house estate 3 miles out from London, one joint toilet/shower area. Wall separating rooms made of cheap plywood material.

Neighbours downstairs suffered leakage into their property from ours.

Most residents of estate on housing benefit, low socio-economic position.

Flat didn't have a living room. No space for a dining room table, just enough room for a kitchen bench to sit one person.

I moved out of there Jan 2014.

For the same amount in Budapest you can easily get a fully-furnished, 1-bedroom apartment with separate living room, full-kitchen, dining area, all bills included in the most expensive real estate area in the whole of Hungary (District 5); 2-3 blocks away from the Danube river, 5-15 minutes walking distance from all the nightlife hotspots.

2000 in Kimball Junction, Park City, UT for a fully updated 2br + loft, 3bath townhouse. Basically in a housing and mall development, but this townhouse at least backs onto the Swaner Nature preserve, so there's a big stretch of wetland out back filled with wildlife and a view (and a cross country ski trail). Thats a small hot tub out on the 1st floor deck.

calwinston: Shout out from Tokyo!

To give you a rough idea, just now I did a quick search using the popular Japanese home-hunting site SUUMO for one-bedroom apartments meeting the following conditions:

- located in Meguro Ward (目黒区)
- within a 10-minute walk to the nearest train/subway station
- area of 30 square meters (323 sq.ft.) or greater (I think this is a fair approximation of the "stir-crazy" lower limit for foreigners, lol)
- built within the past 15 years (so it doesn't collapse on your head during the next huge Kanto-area earthquake)

There is no way for me to quickly calculate an "average" monthly cost of the 1,047 hits that this search returned, but monthly rents with the above conditions start at JPY 92,000 (USD 736 at today's exchange rate of JPY125=USD1) and run all the way up to USD 5,000+. It goes without saying that you could find even cheaper places by easing up on the building age/distance to station/square footage demands...

Here are links to the five least expensive properties. The pages are in Japanese but they all have 10 or more photographs you can flip through, as well as floor plans.

JPY 92,000 (USD 736)
JPY 102,000
JPY 105,000
JPY 109,000
JPY 110,000 (USD 880)

In case you're wondering why I don't point you to an English-language site for Tokyo real estate: Yep, they exist but they contain about one-tenth the number of listings as the standard Japanese sites. Hell, you'd almost think the Japanese have something against renting to foreigners [Image: icon_razz.gif]

Thanks Joe

On the western websites I was getting minimum 200,000 yen and up. This helps tremendously. Haven't lived in Japan for 8 years now. Looking at keeping my place here in the Philippines and one there in Tokyo, traveling back and forth.

Yeah I already know about landlords not wanting to rent to foreigners hahaha. It doesn't bother me. Its their house their rules.

Thanks again for the detailed posting. Ill check the website out.
