I never saw Brussel is processing anything so quickly! (it took only a week for them to validate and approve new laws) Seems there is the deep whish and deep motivation to let ukrainians without visa into shengen! If they are very quick ukrainians can travel in 2-3 months to Europe as they want!

All to piss off the russians! hahahaha :-)

Geez..the Ukrainians will help the EU economy with their abundance of cash to spend[Image: banana.gif].
Better they did this when incomes were rising . Seems like a win for the higher income Ukrainians..who probably could have bought a visa anyway.

Truth is by denying Russians they hurt themselves. Russians tend to spend a lot and I was reading that limiting them actually hurts the economy in some resort areas.

Also I wonder how many will leave and don't come back. For Moldavian's NOT a big deal since it is a small size population.

Here is a good article today..that explains the bad attitude. Sounds like sore losers to me.

If it drives to increased immigration, thats good for European economy! Usually the smart and young ones immigrate! And those is good labour! Therefore all good if they come. Yeah economically it would make sence to let the russians in! But i guess the have to replace first putin before they get the freedom! its all about politics...

And for their chinese pipeline! The deal russia made in shanghai is simply not profitable for russia. There will be only one effect: As chinese can meet their demand from second sources, the world market price for liquid gas will go down and Europe will be in much better negotiation position when it comes to new gas deals between europe and russia! That china deal also supports the drive for russia independent gas supplies ( as world market price for liquid gas goes down)
Economically and technological: Russia is simply not a partner for China! Russia might be an second class market for the chinese...nothing more! And politically: China would never go into an serious relationship with russia. Chinese are just to smart tfor that

At the end of the day it's helpful for Ukrainian people but no big deal, they can just apply for a visa currently, but this will save them paperwork and bureaucracy.

There will be a surge of Ukrainian Asylum seekers in EU, especially due to the war that's going on in the country. They will be allowed to reside within the EU until their claim is processed.

Although they will be able to freely travel to Schengen Countries, many wont be able to afford it, the UAH is worth 50% of what it was last year.

Hopefully more men than women will leave and make the ratios here even better [Image: wink.gif]

By the time Ukraine have a chance of joining the EU, the EU will have dissolved. It will be the European Union of Ukraine and Moldova!

When I read the thread title and the spelling (Shenghen), I thought of a city in China.

The visa liberalization program for Ukraine has not much to do with the current conflict. The agreements were already signed back in 2008. It also won't drive much immigration because Ukrainians can only travel and not work (unless illegally) in the EU.

The program itself no, but you will get a lot of asylum seekers(like there was when Balkans got a visa liberalisation deal) they will claim they are being threatened by Banderites or Russians etc.

EU had a problem with illegal immigrants when Balkan countries had visa liberalisation, many of those were gypsies. I know guys who will go to work illegally in a country like Luxembourg for 90 days and make as much money as they can, then go home for 90 days and then go back

this would be a long economic analysis!

Just few facts:

1.Chinese markets are in Europe and China! To russia they sell only the cheap stuff no-one wants to buy in europe or us anymore (Chinese would therefore avoid to get into deep bilateral relationships with Russia if they are worsening their relationships with us or europe)
2. China wants technology to secure future innovation and markets ( russia is not having any innovation, technology etc.)
3. China and russia having a large potential conflict area --the whole of eastern Siberia---/ Therefore russia will be very carefull letting chinese investors and esp. chinese immigrants into that area/ I actially almost sure the chinese suggested during the negotiations the make the investments of the infrastructure by themself and therefore even paying higher gas prices! But as russians are carefull they probably refused that! Hereby also very interessting: China is currently proposing several traffic infrastructure projects on russian soil in eastern siberia...!
4. Chinese have zero respect towards russians / They consider them as inferior ! Hereby i am suggesting to have a little walk arround ritan park in beijing / You will understand then....
5. concerning profitability of the gas deal: just google! there are many articels available ...even from pro russian newspapers
6. As china is having by itself plenty of potential territorial conflicts, they will never openly support russian policy in ukraine! They simply having not much strategic interesst in ukraine thats why they dont comment and behave neutral!

The china deal has been just a big PR show of looser putin! I would even not be surprised if there will never any gas be delivered! The chinese just joined the show as they could not loose much out of it! And thy may win marginally by an diversifaction of their energy supply!

The looser out of this deal is simply russia! And in the mid and long term Putin will have to pay the price for it! His russian fellow citizens will tell him

It is very difficult to take you seriously when you punctuate each sentence with an exclamation point. I believe this would fall under the forum rules regarding grammar/textspeak.
