Thought some people might find this interesting.
Had a pretty fun solo night out in NYC on a random Tuesday this week. Actually tonight. Writing it fresh before I pass out so it's as detailed as possible.
I know we all talk about going out solo a ton, but it really isn't that easy. So whether you're a beginner living here, or an expert thinking about hitting NYC, I thought you could get some value from this.
I had a pretty solid Tinder date to start the night. Cool girl, and cute, but at 34, probably a little older than I'm used to. But it was kind of amazing how much better the conversation was. (Note, I'm also 34)
Hit back to my place after that around 10 and had a few beers. I'm in between jobs at the moment, so can pretty much do whatever I want. Figured I'd take advantage of being able to go out as late as I want and hit up some of the Tuesday parties that are usually off limits for me due to work.
Distant_Light has some great Reco's no doubt. Went over to VIP in Meatpacking around 12:30, but unfortunately it was pretty dead and about to close. I chatted with the bouncer for a bit and asked him where was hot. He said Le Souk was a solid Tuesday spot, so that's where I went.
Wow. Off the fucking chain. Talked with a bunch of people there, and they said it's always like that, but take it with a bit of a grain of salt. It was the owners B-Day. I've been there on a Friday and it was similar, but can't confirm weekdays are always consistent like that.
Rolling solo is never easy. Right when I got there I got a beer, and started scoping the scene. Probably 2 minutes passed before I approached the first girl. Didn't go well. But you have to be ready for that. This shit ain't easy. I got rejected 4 times before a girl hooked, and that was only for about 5 minutes.
Finally I saw a little cutie glancing my way, and I engaged, and it hooked in a big way. She was a college senior, and there with a bunch of friends visiting her in NYC for Spring Break. Big red flag logistics wise, but I was solo and wanted to meet some people, so I stuck it out.
We chatted for about 5 minutes, and I could tell she was super in to me, but I knew I had other game to play. In that situation, you have to get cool with the friends. So I asked her to introduce me to the rest of the girls. They were super cool. Most people would be surprised how easy it is to diffuse cock blocks when you plan ahead. Plus one of her guy friends who I made a point to get cool with was the man. We exchanged numbers and he's got connects across the nightlife scene so hopefully I'll be seeing him again soon.
It's so important to talk to guys just as much as the ladies. Never know who you're going to meet in a night out solo. That's the beauty in it and how you get places on lock down like we all talk about.
Long story short, my logistics were kinda shit. So I didn't get laid. But I made a couple solid connections, got a triple kiss with my girl and one of her friends, and have a number I can chase down with a cute college senior at NYU. Plus, most importantly, I had a great fucking time.
And that, is what it's all about.
