Music challenge - 2014

Purely by chance I have come across a bunch of great music over the past week. Until then I was in a big rut when it came to music. Pretty much forgot what it is like to hear a song for the first time and to fall in love with it straight away.

So - with that in mind - I am going to set myself a goal. For the rest of this year - I am only going to listen to music I have come across for the first time this year.

I am sure alot of guys do this sort of thing. But it seems like a great way to get the synapses in the brain firing away and forming new patterns.

The only thing that comes to mind is Bill Drummond who was the founding member of the legendary pop act The KLF. I remember in a book once - he said that each year he would bin all his CDs and only listen to new music that year.

I've been using TuneIn Radio for android - it plays a lot of world's radio stations over the internet, just type the genre in search and select which station to play. It's a great way to find new music.
last.fm is also a good way to find a lot of artists and songs, and of course, there's an android version.
The third way is to open youtube and listen to related videos or find playlists and then copy them to your youtube account so you have the playlist saved to your account.

Check out my thread Essential android tools for modern players and alphas to find out how to make your android phone your wingman, or click here and scroll down if you only need to root it.

I find GNOD to be useful for discovering new stuff: http://www.gnod.net/

I've discovered a lot of random cool music with GNOD.
