Raising a family in a foreign county while living in the US

Raising a family in a foreign county while living in the US

I had some friends visit me from Dubai (natives of Dubai). They are very content with their marriage and quality of their lives. A few of them had 7 children, multiple wives, live in maids and frankly live like kings. They made it clear that over there the man runs the house and the women are subservient to them. I broke it down to them the cons of marriage here in the states and how men give up most of their rights when they sign the marriage contract. They highly encouraged me to come to Dubai to settle down or to get a wifey there, still live in the states and visit every few months.

There are a million factors to analyze but I would like to see if anyone has heard of a similar setup. There are tons of pros and cons to the situation, putting the financial aspect of this setup aside, what are your thoughts? Eventually I do want to have children and that would be the only reason to settle down.

Visit every few months?

Sounds like abandonment to me (unless you're in the military which would be understandable on deployment). I don't think I'd like living in a Muslim community however. Sounds dangerous.

Having a normal family life with a sweet loving wife and kids is best done in a sane country where things are more traditional. This is the only way to pull this through nowadays. You'd have to be out of your mind to get married and saving kids in the feminazi infested western world.

They are suggesting for you start your family in Dubai but live in the states while your family is in Dubai? That makes no sense at all. You should live with your wife and kids, should you decide to do so, otherwise what's the point? Of course you can bang on the side, but your home base should be where your kids are at the very least. A child is not a dog or cat. Once you have them, you will want to be with them...and who will raise them? I think a lot of folks on here who don't have children do not appreciate the feelings you will have for them...you will love them far more than any woman...it just doesn't even compare. It's so much more pure.

You kinda set it up in your first paragraph.

These guys are living like Kings @ home

You think a king is into

Changing diapers?
Kissing booboos?
dealing with potty training?
A father who goes to all the baseball games?
A confidant in his wife?

These cats ain't even old school, they're old Testament.

Kali,

Please understand that your friends have a very distorted view of the world. As you said, your friends are natives Dubai, they get their house for free from the government (free land and interest free loan to build). They also have free healthcare, schooling and subsidized utilities. They get about $50,000us per year in handouts. 80% of the citizen works for the government, 10-15% works for state companies, rest works for private companies (most hired under a quota system). Very small amount of people actually works. Most don't consider showing up to be the job requirement.

If you decide to setup house in Dubai, you will not get any of those benefits. A small villa will cost you 3-5,000 per month, utilities another 1-2,000 (AC run 24/7). A villa your friends live in will cost 10-15,000 per month and 5,000 for utilities. Help is cheap but you will still need 2 or 3. That's another 2,000 per month. You said kids, right? Tuition in UAE is about 70,000-100,000 AED per year (yep, 20K-28K US per year per kid) that doesn't included uniforms, trips, books. Trust me, private school have lots of extra fees. These are fixed cost, don't forget living expense, and they are not cheap.

You will need to provide about 150K us for your wife and 2 kids in Dubai.

I know you said "financial aspect of this setup aside", the reason I bring all this up is because finance have lots to do with why you said you want to setup oversea household in the first place, "how men give up most of their rights when they sign the marriage contract."

So, for you to have an oversea household, you need to pull in $350K ($200K before tax for oversea, $150K for yourself). If you are pulling in that kind of money, you will not be giving up most of your rights when you sign the marriage contract.

Prenup and asset protect trust before you get marry will take care of it all. Men only get rape over marriage if they are stupid about it or is poor. Yes, you will giving up 10-15% of your income/asset but is still cheaper than an oversea household (you do want to provide for your kids, right?).

You have all the power because you have the income/money. You just have to know what to do.

ie. My favorite divorce Scot and Michelle Young. After wife refused £300 million in settlement, husband "bankrupt" himself in property deal in Russia. Live high in London from "loan and gifts from friends". After 6 years, have to pay £20 million in a divorce settlement by court. (he can still not pay if he want, no money in UK for court to seize. It just carry a 8% interest.) It is not hard to Fuck your wife over after you don't want to fuck her anymore.

Most country around the world will recognize marriage oversea. US, Canada, EU, Japan, Singapore, HongKong, Australia will all recognize a legal marriage in any country. This is why lots of Israeli people get marry oversea as they don't have civil marriage in that country but will be legally married if done oversea.

So, if you get marry oversea and keep a residence in US, she can fly over to sue you for divorce and get support/assets. Don't know how that would works if you have multiple legal wife in Dubai. You can always marry a Saudi Arabia woman, since you will become her legal guardian and cannot leave the country without your approval (but she can always forge your signature or sue and have you replaced).
