The whole point is that it's a minimum-energy expenditure. Put up an ad on CL and go on with your life. I don't think anybody said this should be your primary source.

It's unbelievable how high the scammer/fake account-level is on Craig's list: The Netherlands. I honestly haven't seen such a high level of scam before on a dating site. I have throwed two ads, and now I am waiting. That's the disadvantage of living in a small, conservative country. Internet dating(even Tinder) sucks very hard here.

I'm living in a very conservative area of the Philippines and had the idea to post an ad about a week or two ago. I'm getting the occasional hit and almost no spam/scams. I have a freak who claims she "identifies as a pain slave" lined up for this weekend. Not the cutest face but she's thin. It's nice because I rarely have to renew the thread since the section gets so little traffic here.

Can you provide a bit more of a break down? Primarily, how do you sell yourself as better than these women just going out to a bar and hooking up with a guy? From looking at the ads in my area it seems like the only guys that get traction are bi/gay, hung, or massive.

Think about it: If they could just go out to a bar and hook-up they wouldn't be trolling CL personals and I specifically phrased my ad so that women that are already in LTRs/married will take interest in it (no chance for attachment). My ad talks about how I'll "give them what they're not getting at home" followed by an explicit-but-not-too-explicit description of what exactly that "what" is (see VincentVenturi's example for ideas).

This lets her hamster do the work; "Well, I'm not getting fucked like I want, this guy understands exactly what I'm looking for, it looks like he's got a decent body, nobody I know will know what I'm doing and who I'm doing it with, and all I have to do is respond to an ad".

NOTE: of course, different cities will get different results.

It's really a crapshoot. I've had (and seen) ads with pics plucked straight from porn sites stay up and had others taken down with nothing offensive at all.

Maybe you can provide some kind of more-detailed description of what you are posting in order that we could get some ideas about what kinds of words you are using and/or what kind of pictures you are using.

I have had quasi-commercial ads removed in the for sale section, and when I changed the title (without changing the body's content), and reposted, they were NO longer removed... so sometimes little tweaks can help... I think my ads that were removed had listed a brand name in the title, and I changed the title to a description while keeping the brand in the body, and that seemed to work.

So far, knock on wood, I have NEVER had any of my quasi-personal ads removed.. but usually my ad descriptions are fairly tame to just describe the kind of "cooperative" girl I am seeking... hehehehe.

@MidniteSpecial: It becomes easy to spot the spam after playing with it a while. I have also sold plenty of stuff on CL also and it becomes fairly predictable.

If you know an e-mail is fake, don't reply because that is part of their scam. Your e-mail is hidden by CL until you reply, that's why they try to entice you into it by being really over-the-top in their message "oh my god my pussy is like niagara falls right now oh my god I want it in the ass please reply".

Once they get that address, they add it to their database and will send you shit forever. Always use a throwaway e-mail account through Yahoo.

Wanted to say that CL for the last year+ has been anonymizing email addresses both ways. This definitely wasn't the case until fairly recently though. Give it a shot some time, reply to a legit for sale ad asking them a question and the header on their reply will be anonymized as well.

I was able to get an almost-notch back in 2008, but since then it's impossible.
Statistically, over 80% of the ads posted in the w4m and casual encounters section are from scammers. And the males section has between 800-1000 posts every single day. Even distinguishing with pictures and seductive content, I've only had 2 replies over the course of the last week from guys wanting to hook up. Sheesh.
I might try adjusting the target audience and re-phrasing, but I don't see anything coming from this. Not with the deck this stacked.
