I have to say though, the type of girl pictured above is extremely rare in the Mexico I've seen thus far. Not to discourage anyone but I've only once seen girls that were above a 7.
Have you gone out in Polanco?

No, I really wanted to hit Polanco but ran out of time. I did go to Condesa, but I was on a dinner date and not at the clubs or anything. Getting sick slowed me down. Almost didn't make it to my own birthday party. But I did pretty extensively walk the streets and take the metro around a lot of areas. Granted, I've seen some head turners here and there and in a city of over 20 million you can't help but encounter some cuties. I just think compared to a place like Argentina, Brazil or Colombia the average level of attractiveness is way lower. And a lot of people here are fat. I hear a lot of good about GDL so I'm looking forward to seeing if it lives up to the hype. I also want to check out Monterrey soon as I've met some pretty cute Regias before.
Not dissing DF at all though, had an awesome time and I'll certainly be back. I think it's an amazing city that in ways has the same buzz and energy I felt in Bangkok.

But this country has a huge fattie problem. Even women that aren't obese per se will have sloppy bodies.
It's a problem of growing importance also in South America (incl. Brasil) and in Carribeans - french goverment announced recently that some 35% of the population suffered from obesity in french Carribeans departments.

Just got to GDL last night. I haven't done much or gone out of my neighborhood so my update is very preliminary. So far, I don't like this place. It started with being ripped off by a cab driver. The guy was friendly and we talked in Spanish the entire way to the hotel. Then he quoted me a price way different than his boss who summoned him at the bus station. It was partly my fault, I should have confirmed the price with him before getting in his cab, not with his boss. Or then again, maybe I just didn't clearly hear the boss right, but I'm pretty sure he socked with a huge gringo tax. That could happen anywhere but it hasn't yet until last night and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Then there was a bit of a mess at hotel check in time due to the conversion rate, and the price I booked the place for online, I had to pull up the website on my phone and show them that was the rate it was advertised for. It was a pain in the ass and coming right after the taxi incident I now had my guard up.
It was just after dark at this point. The hotel is pretty much right next to the Plaza de Armas in the middle of the historic center. In every other city I've been in in Mexico or in Latin America in general, you can usually count on being near action if you are by the center plaza. So a few hours later I leave out planning to find a restaurant to eat at and then maybe find a bar or some action. Street after street is literally a ghost town. The only thing missing were tumbleweeds blowing through. You might see some dude just randomly sitting by himself in the main plaza park. It was an eerie vibe. If you plan to come to GDL, do NOT stay anywhere near the Plaza de Armas. Big mistake on my part. I'll include all this when I write my post trip data sheet. I'd never seen anything like it. It was like downtown L.A. at night in the early 90s. Bustling during the day, but at night it flat-lined.I could find no open restaurants and certainly no bars. It was around midnight now so I just grabbed a sandwich, chips and beer at a 7/11 and called it a night.
Today, it was HOT AS FUCK. Like upper 90s, and it won't be much cooler for the rest of my stay. Couldn't do much walking around during the main hours. So I just stayed at the hotel and swam in the pool. As it got closer to evening I decided to go exploring and get a feel for the downtown area. Not really liking the vibe at all. It feels way more sketchy than DF I don't see see the heavy police presence I saw in DF either. I'm now for the first time seeing cholos in central Mexico, or guys trying to imitate the Chicano cholo look, tatted up thuggish dudes with sports jerseys and shaved heads. The people seem cold here and generally unfriendly. Which was not the vibe I got in the smaller towns or even in D.F. Being black, I'm getting a lot of looks as I was already used to, but in DF and the smaller town it was nothing but benign curiosity and it never bothered me. Here I feel like I'm getting a more off-putting vibe when people look at me to the point that it's making me uncomfortable. I didn't feel this way in any other city so far. Though it could be just my imagination.
Now, for the girls...I must preface this by saying that I haven't yet hit any clubs or bars, I'll try to do that tonight, probably around Chapultepec Ave. The women I've seen so far have been during the day in the centro district. I think the OP was kinda right from my admittedly preliminary glance. I'm not seeing all these Penelope Cruz looking chics walking around. Now maybe they only live up in gated communities in Zapopan and keep to that area and I'm just not going to see them downtown. The population in general from what I've seen doesn't look significantly different than what I've seen in DF. I'd say they are somewhat better than the other cities and I have rubber-necked a few times walking around here, but from what I've seen so far, I think the whole "there's something in the water around here" thing is a bit over-stated. I'm talking just the girls I see walking around in the day specifically in the historic center. Other Mexicans have told me how blown away I'm going to be by the girls when I get here. So this is something widely believed. Granted, it may be entirely different in Los Altos or the some of the wealthy suburbs. I don't have a fair sample size yet. Once again, this is just a preliminary update and my mind could change as I branch out more to see different parts of town.
Also from what I've seen, I'm not all that impressed with the historic area. Compared to what I've seen in Puebla and Morelia and even D.F., I think the centro here is a bit of a letdown. There are a lot of beggars here, something I've really not seen much of in central Mexico till now. This area really does have a bit of a downtown L.A. vibe, and not in a good way. So moral of the story so far, don't stay in the centro of GDL. The vibe is not great and at night it's a fucking ghost town. In the smaller Mexican cities, the centro is where you want to be, but not here. GDL also lacks the great public transit of DF so you are going to have to cab it everywhere. The 3 peso(about a quarter in USD) rides on the DF subway with unlimited transfer were truly the best deal in town. You could get anywhere on them and I only took taxis after the metro stopped running. There is a 2 line train system here but from the map, it doesn't seem to be of much use.

The light skinned euro preference is strong on these forums, I see.
So let me get this straight some of you guys visit countries where rare light skinned euro white looking women are worshiped and put on a pedestal with all the local men to their advantage, but then you get mad and talk down on a city or country when you can't find or score any of these said women???
Why not just go to Spain, Italy or Argentina they obviously have the euro/mestiza balance of looks some of you prefer.
Going to a country or city known for predominately "darker chubby rolly polly Mexican Marias and trying to score the needles in the haystack euro looking chicas doesn't seem too logical.

Update. Rolled out solo dolo. Just got home. So I went to Chapultepec Avenue. Walked into a few spots and was extremely disappointed. Not from the talent, but rather because all venues were based around tables of mixed sets. The clubs here are really not designed for mingling with strangers. Even when there is an actual bar, it will be empty because everyone is sitting at the tables. On another forum members recommendation I walked over to Lola Lolita. Now finally I found an American style bar where people are not all in mixed sets and there's some mingling going on and a big round bar area.
If you are going to party in Chapultepec and you are rolling solo, this is the only bar you need to worry about. The talent was awesome. Almost no fatties, and the girls were all leggy white and mestiza chicas. Ratios were balanced well. Some observations:
- Almost NO girls were using smartphones.
- Even hot girls were completely nice.
- No one speaks English, which killed me since I can't converse in Spanish beyond a few minutes.
- Girls are not ADD. I posted up at the bar and stayed there. The girls basically don't wander. If some hot girls is next to you when you post up, she'll still be there 3 hours later. She may go to the bathroom or go chat to someone, but she'll come back.
- The guys were cool too, no attitudes.
- I was dancing with this one girl and her friend encouraged me to dance with her, even though they were in a two set. No culture of cockblocking that I can see here.
- Guys were not haters, dudes were encouraging me to approach chics in their mixed set. But my poor Spanish didn't allow me to capitalize.
- Women are very sweet and feminine.
- There's no posturing, people are out to have a good time, and they damn well do it.
- Many hot chics are just standing around looking like they're waiting for someone to approach them.
- GDL bars close at 4am.
If you go to this bar, don't order mixed drinks. They are 85 pesos and have barely any alcohol in them. Just get Coronas, they are dirt cheap and you know what you're getting. There is no cover, just walk right in. Crowd is middle class. Maybe not high-end like Zapopan. No suit needed. Guys were casual, girls were mostly dressed in heels and skirts.
Well tomorrow I'm meeting up with a local girl. Hopefully I get the GDL flag.
If you have your language skills together, this place can be a goldmine. It makes me fucking sick to even think about going out again in L.A. So first priority when I get back is work on my conversational Spanish. I'll be back down this way. When I'm ready to wife a girl up, she'll be from down here most likely.

^bro, never go to GDL during this time of year. It's fucking hot as fuck there (muggy hot, not dry hot like California summer weather, which is really bad) and rains a lot as well. But I'm glad you found a place where there's good looking girls. You got to hit in those middle-class and upper-class venues, as the lower-class ones are getting increasingly filled with short ultra brown girls from south-central mexico.

DF had pretty much perfect weather this time of year.
A little rain though. Other than that, nice and cool at night and warm and sunny during the day.

I'd be happy to meet up with the G. But I think he's one of those "don't call me, I'll call you" kinda cats.

Observations on Lolita are on point. I just realized that none of the girls moved and most were friendly. All had heels and none were hipster. I opened on a few and most didn't speak English. Dance floor game would kill there.
If the tickets werent so expensive I would do a weekend trip. I loved it there.
The cycle of disrespect can start with just an appetizer.

speakeasy:
Have you been to Mala Noche yet? It should be good tonight. It isn't mentioned much on this forum, but I consider it to be one of Guadalajara's best venues.
What night or nights did you go to Lolita? It seems to be at least somewhat busy every night. They have a salsa night on Tuesday I believe. I went there once for the salsa night and there was a good mix of Guadalajara locals and Cuban girls. When I went there for salsa night, the guy who was sitting at the table next to me was involved in let's say "international business." He was using the tables to open bottles of beer (not only his own bottles, but those of everyone who was around him) and marking up all the tables. I think they really wanted to kick him out of there, but were scared to.
In addition to the salsa night, I have been there on a Wednesday and a Saturday and it is exactly like speakeasy describes it.
